It's a custom system. The only modules you can't find in a basic system are the A188 BBD delay, the A106 extreme filter and the A199 spring reverb.
This MIDI/CV interface however, is different (much more complexe) from the one used in some basic systems. And unfortunately, it is discontinued... but there are other midi/cv interfaces you can use to do the same and Doepfer will soon release another one to replace the MCV24.
It can sound like whatever you want it to sound like as the modular synth possibilities are endless. This is a demo so I tried to use the gamepad as much as possible but in more musical applications, I don't use it that way. I believe in many cases (EG driving filters or triggering envelopes) it is much more musical and intuitive than the standard electronic instruments controlers that are potentiometers, joysticks or keyboards.
there really is a market for this kind of thing. If someone would program a modular synth for wii kinda like korg ds10 the homebrew scene would blow up with music software...
I seem to recall someone getting by without those computer things (everyone not too long ago) and someone notable getting by without being able to play the piano (Aphex Twin)
Hehe. Wiimote is a really good controller for live performances. We will be experimenting soon with 2 wiimotes and 2 synths. A live show based on this line up could be really lots of fun, like those guys with nanoloop on gameboy =) It will require lot of programming and preparation though.
Well... that depends on what you're aiming at (preparation wise..) I think a whole bunch of jaws would be dropped just from making noises like that. .....but don't prepare for too long!!
Fantastic demo!

funny, creative, artistic, "technologic", complex and nice, but i think it's just to have fun, not actually to create music.
specially coz it sounds like crap.
anyways nice music.
hope some nintendo developers make this on a game. it 'd be really cool
maybe a dj'ing software would be really cool too

Wiimote is great for DJing and VJing !

Wow, this kicks absolute ass. You should try this with unpitched, percussive sounds. It would sound great.

lol kinda, techno involves a little bit more, you need piano experience, a computer with the right software, and a midi board :p

This is great, I got to play with this doepfer at my school recently and it's neat to see someone sending it more than plain midi notes.
