You've explained the word cult wrong. It comes from the word occult, meaning dark and it's also described as a new religious movement or other group whose beliefs or practices are considered abnormal or bizarre. Another way it's described is as a quasi-religious organization using devious psychological techniques to gain and control adherents. Cults also tend to lack organizational structure and also to do more harm than good.

Mormon's or missionaries don't refer to the Bible. And it is stated in the Book of Mormon in the Introduction stating that "Joseph Smith said: "I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book." My mom has them, and shes not allowed to tell e what they are, not even me or any of her children. Mormon's or missionaries don't refer to the Bible. And it is stated in the Book of Mormon in the Introduction stating that "Joseph Smith said: "I told the brethren that the Book of Mormon was the most correct of any book on earth, and the keystone of our religion, and a man would get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book." So what about the Bible..hm? That's like saying the Mormon book comes first before the Bible.

@slyjokerg How do you know if the Bible is made up? There were historical events that took place. There were witnesses. There were messengers of God. God himself manifested in flesh and they still didn't believe even when he did great wonders. His Disciples died for His name's sake and his Gospel. Now I know know one would die for a lie. @7FaithInTheLord7 ummmm. common sense tells me the bible is made up. this stems from both the fact that many of the claims in the bible are literally false, and many others are childish nonsense. the claims of supposed witnesses are not authenticated by anything BUT the bible, btw. everything you are stating requires the presupposition that it is true. when you don't operate under those baseless assumptions, the beliefs are cartoonish and beyond the realm of rational contemplation.

@slyjokerg Jesus has rest for the weary and the burden. We love sin because we don't know him. He is the mediator between God and us humans. He died for our sins and he loves you. Why live nasty and mean if you can live loving? God is love. We love him first because he first loved us. I'm sorry that is how you feel about the Bible. Give it a read. No foul or hurt since you don't believe it right? Give it a try. I used to make my own decisions. My mom kept praying for me to come to Christ.

Mormonism is against drinking tea but not against drinking Coke or Pepsi; but Coke and Pepsi are far worse for the body than tea, so there is no rational reason why the one should be forbidden when the other is not. It is ironic that Mormons can enter the Temple even if they are morbidly obese due to excessive eating, but they can't if they have had even one cup of tea or coffee. So, the word of wisdom is not about health as such, but mindless legalism
