nero is vergil's son..it was confirmed by the manga. The place nero is living is where vergil went to. There is some background info that suggest that nero's mom is a prostitute which is why he was laughed at as a little kid. The town was full of prostitute when vergil was there.
Vergil even talked to sanctus the main antagonist of DMC4. He told him its funny that he worships sparda. And asked him who would he worship, the god or the son of the god who surpassed him. There's no more denying it.

I don't like Nero very much. His story was great, but his weapons sucked (especially the blue rose) his lack of styles and moves made me grow bored. His devil bringer was fun, but it didn't make up for the enormous flaws his character had. I respected the love story, as it reminds me of Eva and Sparda, but Kyrie is incredibly annoying. I don't understand how anyone could love her. Overall a good game, but Nero did not impress me.
@zombiesite1 I agree. Also, I think Nero doesn't require quite skill as you need with Dante, just put him some abilities and automatic and you would easily get SSS. Dante is other history, I have a pretty hard time trying to control it. Overall, DMC 4 is a pretty good game.

There are soo many plot holes in the dmc franchise like the origin of Nero the story of Sparda the adventures of Vergil till he becomes posesed by Mugnus and transforming into Nelo Angelo(Neros devil triger)how Yamato was found and WHY it got fixed when Nero was near death and now ninja theory deletes everything and starts anew with a new crappy Dante....I wont buy DMC5 unless it is CANON and in any way asociated to DMC(1,2,3,4)
DMC4 is a strange creature. Take DMC3, strip out all likable characters, dialog, and story, then throw in Nero. Take away all the extra weapons, over-specialized stances, add in a few extra moves and improvements, and give him the ability to grab enemies from far away. Way less appealing to watch, but way more appealing to play. Then have him yanked away from under your feet halfway through and start over with Dante. NOOOOOO...
I hope DMC5 gives us a compromise. I'm looking forward to it.
I wish DMC4 would've completed the original DMC series or at least got us closer to finishing it. Nope, they gave us a new character riddled with plot holes that we didn't ask for and did nothing but add on to the numerous amount of questions DMC already had. Also as a last slap in the face to fans, Kamiya decides to leave Capcom, leaving the series forever unfinished. I hope Ninja Theory doesn't treat their fans and story as badly as Kamiya did.

Actually, as I said in a previous comment on this video, it's not good. Nero's simple versatility and Devil Bringer adds such an enormous capacity for massive air combos, that when you lose him, it's like getting handed a less impressive DMC3 Dante despite a couple minor improvements. You're forced to relearn an entirely different and inferior moveset to keep through the rest of the game.

@MindCalamity Their is gameplay footage on Youtube and you can hear, between some Japanese people's excessive talking, that he still sounds and act like the old Dante. It's not much but it's better than the no proof at all that haters use to call him emo. Gives us a ray of hope that the only thing they changed about him is his appearance.
Just over the new appearance of dante? Don't you think that's pretty stupid. I mean, the director ditched dante for a hooker who in my opinion sucks. Dante deserves more even after dmc4's choice of nero over dante. Ninja theory are great developers and they know what they are doing. And that is bringing dante back. Besides, from trailer perspective, its still the devil may cry we come to know and love. Just more advance with its combat.

@MindCalamity That's the problem. You haven't played the game and you're judging it way too soon. Its not that I don't like Nero, I'm more of a dante person, that's all. By view of gameplay footage, the new dante is even more extreme and still pulls off the same stunts. And as you said, people will complain, but that's the internet in a nutshell. When the game comes out, everyone will get over it. And since the developer is Ninja theory, the story will be epic!
Dante is extreme, but Dante isn't defined just by being extreme, sarcasm is one thing that's missing, and the guy always wears one face, he doesn't smile, doesn't joke, and doesn't offend his enemies, that's not Dante IMO.
Say what you will about Ninja Theory and their epic story, but so far, the trailer has not showcased even a bit of that, is "What's your name ?" "My Name is Dante!" an epic story ?

@MindCalamity Dante was serious in the first two DMCs and the anime. Of cuorse it didn't, ITS A FREAKING CG DEBUT TRAILER. Maybe if you were to calm the #### down and wait for a level walkthrough, you will see that Ninja Theory knows what they are doing.

Ninja Theory's way is different from Capcom's, we aren't used to it. so we criticize them for apparently not being Capcom.

You know, people hated Nero at the beginning, but Capcom proved all of us wrong by making Nero awesome, while still making him rather different, and more emotional than Dante, he still has sarcasm, a decent personality, and still is badass, which I can not say for Dante from DmC 5.
Nero was new, and everyone was skeptical, but Nero did not cross the border desperately between lame and badass.

Actually, as I said in a previous comment on this video, it's not good. Nero's simple versatility and Devil Bringer adds such an enormous capacity for massive air combos, that when you lose him, it's like getting handed a less impressive DMC3 Dante despite a couple minor improvements. You're forced to relearn an entirely different and inferior moveset to keep through the rest of the game.
The game should have kept Nero all throughout.

@MindCalamity Their is gameplay footage on Youtube and you can hear, between some Japanese people's excessive talking, that he still sounds and act like the old Dante. It's not much but it's better than the no proof at all that haters use to call him emo. Gives us a ray of hope that the only thing they changed about him is his appearance.

Just over the new appearance of dante? Don't you think that's pretty stupid. I mean, the director ditched dante for a hooker who in my opinion sucks. Dante deserves more even after dmc4's choice of nero over dante. Ninja theory are great developers and they know what they are doing. And that is bringing dante back. Besides, from trailer perspective, its still the devil may cry we come to know and love. Just more advance with its combat.

@MindCalamity That's the problem. You haven't played the game and you're judging it way too soon. Its not that I don't like Nero, I'm more of a dante person, that's all. By view of gameplay footage, the new dante is even more extreme and still pulls off the same stunts. And as you said, people will complain, but that's the internet in a nutshell. When the game comes out, everyone will get over it. And since the developer is Ninja theory, the story will be epic!

Dante is extreme, but Dante isn't defined just by being extreme, sarcasm is one thing that's missing, and the guy always wears one face, he doesn't smile, doesn't joke, and doesn't offend his enemies, that's not Dante IMO.
Say what you will about Ninja Theory and their epic story, but so far, the trailer has not showcased even a bit of that, is "What's your name ?" "My Name is Dante!" an epic story ?
Sorry, but badass moves alone don't make a game...

@MindCalamity Dante was serious in the first two DMCs and the anime. Of cuorse it didn't, ITS A FREAKING CG DEBUT TRAILER. Maybe if you were to calm the #### down and wait for a level walkthrough, you will see that Ninja Theory knows what they are doing.

@MegaBadger24 Dante was not emo-serious in the anime, sorry, I've watched that, even though I haven't played the games, I'm sure he wasn't serious in the way that the new young Dante is. And it's not just a CG Trailer anymore, as gameplay footage has been released. Sorry if you got me wrong, I'm not mad or anything, I was just criticizing the way Ninja Theory does thing.
Ninja Theory's way is different from Capcom's, we aren't used to it. so we criticize them for apparently not being Capcom.

@MindCalamity And neither is the new dante. The gameplay footage does not show cutscences or dialoge, so nobody has a clue over how the new dante acts. Goes to show, you can't judge a book by its cover. THE END!

@MegaBadger24 Also, this is a trailer, it showcases the story, how awesome the main characters are.
You know, people hated Nero at the beginning, but Capcom proved all of us wrong by making Nero awesome, while still making him rather different, and more emotional than Dante, he still has sarcasm, a decent personality, and still is badass, which I can not say for Dante from DmC 5.
Nero was new, and everyone was skeptical, but Nero did not cross the border desperately between lame and badass.
