I can answer that! :) My daughter just got cast as JoJo in a local production, and I was very surprised to learn that they're having her play JoJo as a girl (I had assumed they'd pin her hair up under a hat or something). I asked the director how they're going to do "The Military" song, and she said that every time the general sings "That's what makes a boy a man!", my daughter will protest "But...I'm a GIRL!" but he's totally oblivious and ignores that. Hopefully it will be funny!

Our community theater just did "Seussical" with JoJo as a girl, and (like this young lady) she nailed it. I think JoJo actually works better as a girl, in fact, with the cat being a boy.

I know that JoJo can be played by a girl, trust me I've played my share of male characters myself, and plus my name is JoJo aswell. but the thing is, is that they put her in a dress and pig tails.

They could have atleast made her look like a little boy, but none the less her vocal range is quite enjoyable and she is indeed very talented!
