its about 9 times more likely that a person NOT on the registry has committed this crime! Did they question all Black people,,,,for years black people were labeled the perpetrator,,,, until Civil rights came into affect,, then Society had to find another scape goat!

Yep, the abductor was caught, but he wasn't a sex offender. So the harassment was a waste of time. Most do not re-offend because there are so many non-violent people on the registry, including kids. Police waste our tax dollars tracking low-risk offenders while the real predators are ignored, like in the Garrido case and this one. Registries should only list those who are really dangerous which was the original intent of Megan's Law.

The sex offender registry is a joke. There are thousands of consensual statutory cases,teens dating,public nudity on there. The legislators have ruined this service,and the media stood by and let it happen . Only 6 percent of registered offenders are considered dangerous. The registry is useless!!! Elvis married Priscilla at 14,try putting The King on there.

Yes, the local media has been pointing the finger to a sex offender without evidence. To my knowledge, the killer is still unknown.

Also, asking local sex offenders about the girl is a waste of time because statistically, 90% of new sex abuse crime is committed by someone not on the registry and by someone the victim already knows (source : Department Of Justice). This killer is still not found which proves harassing former offenders was useless.
