  • Great album... any questions??

  • Had this album when it came out, was 10 years old, thought "Eh, it's ok" Bought the CD a year ago and just recently listened to the whole thing again and thought "Ya know, this is pretty good stuff". It aged well and is better than so many of the "rock bands" that are plaguing the radio today. As far as it being a "disco" record, well, in a sense it was close to it. But The Stones had "Some girls" and other bands had similar albums. Just the sound back then. Like today's sound of no talent.

  • Wow, those 70´s commercials were cheesy, lol...

  • My favorite kiss album....dynasty baby

  • Thought Ace stood out here, Save Your Love and Hard Times were both great songs. His cover of 2000 man was as if meant to be.

Paul dominated the record, he clearly was on he same wavelength as the producer, Vini Poncia.

Liked Gene's two songs as well.

Peter, well Dirty Livin' sums up his intention to leave the band.

  • Sure Know Something and Magic Touch are my 2 favs off of Dynasty. Some KISS fans may disagree with me, but I think Dynasty is one of the best albums of their career.

  • @lurch321 Despite the "misguided direction" of Dynasty, "I Was Made For Lovin' You" was the song that got me into KISS.

  • @lurch321 I liked Dynasty then & I like it now. I thought Kiss's worst era was the 80s when they tried to be like the hair bands with mindless guitar solos & somewhat tuneless songs. I don't buy the 'Dynasty was Kiss doing disco' claim either. To be it's a rock album & a bloody good one. Infact I'm going to put it on the hi-fi this evening.

  • I swear that same guy did all the 70's concert commercials.

  • i was made for loving you sucks balls the rest of the album is good though

  • I didn't know a single kid in the late 70's that had EVERY KISS album, between my friend's we had them all. On the other hand I never knew a SINGLE kid that didn't have KISS ALIVE 2. That came two years after ALIVE so.....KISS my ASS!....it went down hill from the time they finished LOVEGUN. 6/30/1977...then came those fucking solo albums, then Dynasty, Unmasked, Music from the "The Elder"......No Peter....No Ace.....=( no love.

  • after ALIVE! it was all down hill!

  • @sjdss

Yeah, because Destroyer, Rock n Roll Over and Love Gun sucked......that was soooo downhill.

    Get real.

  • @debgibsonfan musically it was downhill! first three records about 90% was really good! 76 - 79! maybe 50% and that includes the best album ever by KISS! or one of its members! ACES! solo record! you have to admit great expectations! then she kissed me! almost all of destroyer sucked! most of dynasty! most of the solo records sucked!

  • I love Paul's "manly" strut - oy vey....

  • my gut feeling on the kiss story late in 70s, they were not getting along! esp, ace and peter! those two always hung out !! to party!! i am not putting them down! thats why they all did solo lps!!! i think in a way they were a little constricted in kiss!! look what happened during dynasty, unmasked ...hardly a tight knit group!!!

  • I was at the Animalize tour-the arena was packed, that was 1984-so the Creatures tour may not have done well-but Animalize rebooted the fans.

  • @13visions The Creatures tour did lousy business in the US. Most of the shows the arenas were half-filled at best. Taking off the makeup and the Lick It Up album & tour were considered to be the rebooting point for Kiss.

  • Fuckin' Mini Dome was only 4 feet tall!

  • Kiss' relatively big success is just as much a testament to their skills as business men as to their skills as musicians in songwriters in my opinion, or even more.. They don't have any HUGE albums (and I mean Use your illusion/The wall/Back in black/Hysteria/Get a grip huge), they just put out a lot of albums just at the right time.. They have an enormous ammount of gold records, but that's because they released 1-2 albums EVERY YEAR at their peak. Smart move, but what goes up, must come down..

  • @starionpatrol Well, if "Alive!" and "Destroyer" were not big, I don't know what is.

  • @gabstanace2 Alive was their breakthrough album in the States, so it obviously has some status there, but everywhere else, where they broke through later on, it was just another album. Destroyer was reasonably big, but while this is now 3+ months ago, I guess I was talking about REALLY big albums, such as the ones I listed, the 25+ million selling juggernaughts. Kiss got as big as they got by releasing albums all the time, as well as merch that went well beyond the music.Way too far, eventually

  • I saw them at the Pontiac Silverdome ("Mini-Dome" for this show, meaning they set the stage in the middle of the venue and cut the place in half), and IIRC there was ultimately only one show due to poor ticket sales (the Friday show). It was general admission standing for the floor and I remember getting there at 11AM and waiting alllllll day and night (Kiss hit the stage around 9PM, and I was in what would normally be the second row were there actual seats).

  • I was suppoused to go on the 13th but it was canceled

  • Is this album still in print in any format? I want it....

  • All of Kiss' records are still in print.

  • I just bought this LP Today...it had the original poster in it!!!

  • Awesome!

  • i want them all !!!!!

  • Who's the announcer, sounds familler!

  • Totally tubular to the max!

    xoxo

    The Clarences

  • the costumes were very differnt then what they are now. coooooool video!! :)

  • Kiss used to get new costumes every other album. At this point in their career, they wanted their costumes to look "super-hero" like. Instead, they looked like something out of Vegas.

  • Saw the Dynasty tour in Moblie, AL, Lake Charles, LA and Houston!! hahaha

  • i loveeee love love i was made for lovin you. its one of my all time fav kiss songs. my favorite part is when paul hits the high notes... :D

  • KISS is my favorite band ROCK ON!!! AND REMEMBER ROCK AND ROLL ALL NITE AND PARTY EVERY DAY:)!!!!

  • ah,the good ol' days.

  • i saw them on this tour, it was awesome! gene simmons flew to the top of the forum ~ it was the first time i ever smelled weed ~ good times

  • yeah i saw them in 96 & someone near us was smoking weed.

& they Git THROWN the Fuck out!

we watched the concert without a shitty smell.

    ah the GoodTimes

  • We want a hit of that shit

  • dont forget Music from "The Elder" even though sales were bad but it kinda grows on ya

  • iam getting a ticket XD

  • it wasn't their worst album. the thing that KISS fucked up on is that they let Cassablanca (who was going Dico at the time, they had the Village People on the label) convince them to do a Rock/Disco hybrid and they made it the single on the album. The record gets publicity as a disco album and KISS fans are shocked and in disbelief. Record doesn't sell well. To cope w/ this KISS releases a more poppy album (unmasked) to boost sales. That doesn't work. They then release the Music from the elder.

  • I thought this sold very well--around 2 million.

If you compare Dynasty to the crap that is released today Dynasty is a Masterpiece.

  • yeah it did sell well. i should say that it wasn't received well. With the negative connotation that it still has i don't understand why KISS plays "I was made for loving you" live to this day.

  • 'cause we fans go crazy when they do!

  • They do play IWMFLY live. Not on the last leg of the Alive 35 tour, but it's still in the live set rotation.

  • yes. but don't you think that it is a little strange considering that was the single that sped up the down turn for KISS?

  • You're right but it was a long time ago and many older fans love Dynasty and the song still. When they brought it back in the later 80's live the crowds went totally nuts. It is a great song. Their biggest worldwide hit. I think they play it less now because Paul's voice is starting to get shot.

  • Alright. Fair enough. Thanks for giving me a ligitament answer on why KISS plays it today.

  • Because it made the Top 10 and was one of their biggest songs. They broke it out about halfway through the reunion tour and found it got a good reaction from the fans.

  • Amen to that!

  • @trevor40 Crap today and crap 30 years ago have one thing in common, they both stink.

  • @bfnputz wat a dumbass u r

  • @trevor40 Only 2 million? Seems a bit hard to believe i thought it would be more.

  • looks like kiss had heavy costumes on the dynasty album

  • Epic! Glorious! One of the strongest (and weirdest) KISS albums ever, containing the biggest KISS pop hit ever (I was made for loving you), the best cover ever (2000 Man), the most self-adoring Gene's song ever (Charisma), the most desperate call-it-quits song of Peter (Dirty Livin') and two gems from Ace Frehley: Hard Times and Save your Love. Oh! And displaying one of the most iconic KISS album cover photos ever. I can't understand those who hate this masterpiece of 70's excess.

  • I agree, couldn`t have said it better, I love this album.

  • KISS doesn't never suck! It always rocks!

  • I Loved this album, Ace's tracks rocked. Yeah "I Was Made For Loving You" was shitty.

  • your mom was shitty

  • Dynasty wasn't their worst... Asylum/Crazy Nights/Hot in the Shade was one bad string of albums.

  • dude dynasty is awesome

  • what song is that there singing

  • I was made for lovin you - Dynasty 1979

  • A KISS-CO album...AAAARRRGHHHHHHHHH~

  • See KISS at the MINI-DOME! Yep,they were done by then. They probably would have been better off just playing Casinos by that time.

  • Actually, they could still play arenas at this point. By 1982-83, when they did the Creatures Of The Night tour with Eric Carr and Vinnie Vincent, they were playing arenas that were half-filled at best.

  • Where's Peter Criss at.They just edited a poster in instead of him. Maybe he went on a coke run.(LOL)

  • He stood still?

  • The one on the 14th was canceled.

  • This is good

  • i love this commercial!man i was only 3 years old when this commercial came out.i love those dynasty costumes!they are like rock gods!

  • haha! that commercial was so different from the ones we have nowadays..funny.

  • 1979 guys ur 29 years late

  • i already got my ticket that shit is gonna be tight fuckin kiss

  • Same here, Section 132, Row 16, Seat 104. Its gonna be SO AWESOME!!!

  • Where I can get the tickets???

  • should be cool...im there!

  • haha! XD mini-dome XD

  • Oh my god i love the picture at 0:12, you can see the twin towers in the back. Its a beautiful picture :(

  • damn terrorist´s : /

  • yeah, its the religions. they did it becuase they came to "paradise" :(

  • You can see the Twin Towers in the back..:(

  • Alright! I am going to buy some tickets to this show!!! WAAAHOOO!!!

  • your´e a bit late xD

  • hahaha awesome voice overdubs haha

  • The year I was born!!!

  • "Music from The Elder" is one of the most well thought albums in KISStory. Conceptually and musically, it's very complete. "good" or "bad" are very subjective concepts. This album has riffs, beats, lyrics and high IQ performance.

  • haha i got this ourbook and a few others 4 like 5 bucks =)

  • I was at the Silverdome for the Friday concert. I'd gotten there at 11AM (because it was festival seating) and sat outside for hours before they finally let us in. I ran down a zillion stairs and found a place in what would approximately be the second row, had there been actual seats. (There weren't; we had to stand throughout the show.)Kiss finally hit the stage around 10:00PM and put on a fabulous show!!

  • Unfair to say anything KISS did was disco. During 1979-80, some of KISS's songs went a little softer and were more pop-oriented (i.e Shandi, I Was Made for Loving You), but overall the music retained its rock edge.

  • nah actually an early day in 1994 was the day music died

  • i still get goosebumps when i see this. i was 14 and knew disco sucked but this was kiss, how could they suck?! but then after the elder i found out how they could suck.

  • KISS never sucks!!!

  • Right !

  • The elder is their best one..

  • o.k.?!?

  • I love how when they show the individual members, they're all moving around, except for Peter...who's shown as a still picture. He was probably too drugged-out to stand-up.

  • That is not a still of Peter Criss, they just used a zoom where he wasnt moving.

  • LMAO!!! You're probably right:)

  • Paul is obviously the cuttest one on that commercial. I luv paul as u can tell!!! LUV YAS PAUL!!

    ~allison

  • That was a great year. KISS was still pretty cool but they were not at their height.

  • I was made for lovin you is actually pretty fuckin cool for a song with a disco beat....yeah it let's Paul be his most flamboyant and is laughable..but you can't fuckin take Kiss too seriously..they don't take themselves that serious, but they are good business men.

  • KISS went Disco - and that was the day the music died...
