  • @hanros98 you have answered your own question, but to clarify I suggest you do some research on where he is from in Naples then you will have a better idea of his origins. It is all in the clip but you have to research it yourself. Thanks for your comment.

  • i'm sorry but how can the guy be italian while being an anglo indian and having english names

  • Sad story. angloindian1, I hope you help him out

  • Next time when you comments gets your facts right, moreover intellects don't and cannot understand humanity, he would sit in his economics class and would say give a poor man fishing net and not fish, not knowing that if he does not eat the next moment he dies...

  • After going by the comments of many a human intellects, my two cent worth: Lets go by an assumption,(because it cannot be true) that the video is a all lie and it holds no truth, question: where is humanity gone...to the drains... a man in his quest to know his roots helps somebody on his path, you all are out to discourage him, I have known the struggle of anglo indians, not only in chennai, but in Bangalore, Mumbai, Kerala and other parts of the country.

  • I wonder why he left Italy? May be his parents suggested t him because they were having a hard time in Italy after emigrating there?

  • @Iradapp thanks for your comment. Can't tell you first hand if Phillip has received any assistance or visits as I live in Australia. I am back to Chennai in 2012 and will definitely visit him and Elizabeth if they are still in the same place or find them some how. If you go, please let me know. Talking to people like Phillip is humbling. As far as Relatives, I doubt if it is a priority. All the best, Nigel

  • The silence between his words are very painfull to watch. Would like to know if there is any progress in this issue? Was anybody able to trace any of his relatives? I wish I could help this person in some way. Though I am an expatriate Indian, but would like to know how I can contribute in helping this person find his siblings or relatives.

  • does it matter where he was born or what his name is? he says he is an anglo indian and why is that such a puzzle? how many anglo indians have any indian blood in their veins? none of my family as far back as my father and mother, have any indian blood but we were all born in india and as far as we are concerned, we are all anglo indians and proud of that fact! for gods sake man, our race is dying and we arent doing enough to prevent that happening.

support your race and your community!!!!

  • @st9riker You are an idiot, typical of Anglo-Indians o the British era. the word "Anglo-Indian" largely refers to people who have a mixed blood

  • it does not matter, if he i anglo or Italian. I think Nigel has a very kind heart and out of his good Samaritan heart if he made this video to help him, then why not support him or just any poor man. if mother Teresa would have chosen saving people between anglos and Italians, then you today we would have a few well doing Anglo and half of calcutta would be full of lepers. u get my point.

Nigel you are my hero. great work

  • mrasansol, Please search the net for his surname in Naples. You will be surprised at the history surrounding his surname, suburb and church. Glad you were moved enough to comment. Regards, Nigel

  • His identity is puzzling: he is probably not Italian as his sister's and parents' names are English. HIs surname is also not Italian and he does not have the lilt and rolling pronunciation that Italians have. But all that does not matter. He has dignity despite his poverty and that is something to be admired.

  • @mrasansol Exactly. He has dignity despite his poverty and that is something to be admired.

  • @maxgalstaun, He is certainly not an Indian which we can see from his appearance.... I dont find a single reason for this video to be fake. When his arrival to India in 1955 remains mystery, he cant return back so easily. Do you think there is a rickshaw service from India to Italy? and regarding his remembrance about this birth place, its clearly mentioned he was born in naples , Italy

  • Dear mister Galstone, my my, you seem to take pleasure in deriding a defenceless rickshaw man. Lets see...you believe I went to India from Australia to fake a video about an Italian man living in India who owns a rickshaw and lives on the street with his wife and is well known by people in the area for the last 40 yrs. Perhaps Wikki-Leaks has an email on this amazing deception and will explain it's construct. Thanks for your comment and I look forward to meeting you one day, Cheers.

  • THIS VIDEO IS FAKE..there is no such person as an ITALIAN.

He does not remember where he came from in Italy ?

Why is he suffering in India, he can return to ITALY anytime.

But he is not ITALIAN.. just some local drunkard they got to talk total shit.

    FAKE VIDEO..FAKE VIDEO...

  • Herinderdrew, as Phillip earns about 3 US dollars a day, please do the math for him to buy a return ticket to Italy...thats if he wanted to go to Italy. Thanks for using capital letters and I hope to hear from you in the near future. Cheers, Nigel

  • BULL SHIT HE IS ANGLO INDIAN YES BUT IF HE WERE PURE ITALIAN HE WOULD HAVE AT LEAST TRAVELED TO ITALY TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT HIS HERITAGE WHAT A FAKE LIE

  • imelda, please listen to his story then get on the web and research where he comes from and why he has his name etc. This is why I made this short video, to move people to respond to Phillip's story to see if it makes a difference where is from, his name. What are people focusing on and how it changes their compassion towards this wonderful man who does not beg but is still riding his rickshaw every day and earns a few dollars. I hope you may meet him and his great grand daughter. Thank you.

  • @angloindian1 ok, no problem. thanks.

  • Imelda, I strongly suggest you remove "jesus" from your name as He was compassionate...unlike you. Again, I suggest you strongly insert "ignorant" as this surely suits you better. Thank you.

  • @angloindian1 Just because I think the man is fake does not mean i hate him or have anything against him. Stop being such a baby...i.e assuming someone hates you because they dont agree with you is childish. If i see the man i will help him , give him what i can give, but i dont believe him at all. Just like we got alcoholics in the streets, they ask me for money and lie they want to buy food, i still give them money though i dont believe their story. that doesnt mean i have no compassion.

  • @angloindian1 I believe the video maker paid this man to make up this story, that is my opinion.

  • im sorry but i dont believe this story, i think its fake. First he has an indian accent, he should be speaking english with italian accent. Secondly the names he gave us for his sister are english names, not italian names. I believe this man has a mental problem and is living in a fantasy.

  • @imelda4jesus dude don't bother commenting on stuff you just don't know anything about.

  • @luddoo0 respect peoples opinion and stop being a control freak. That is what i believe and i am entitled to my opinion. If u disagre with me then explain your point, but telling someone not to comment is being a control freak. So what is point? Give ur reasons and stop bossing me. thanx

  • @imelda4jesus im sorry i came across that way, it was unfair of me. But regarding the video, everything this gentlemen was saying that you did not believe is typically Anglo indian,( background, name, accent, this varies obviously) So your first comment was not only saying that he is a"fake" and but that Anglo Indians are . There are a few web pages which give information about the people as a race, if you read through them i am sure you would understand this man story a lot better. thank you

  • @luddoo0 its okay.

I am not sayin anglo indians are fake. This man is not even anglo indian, he said he is italian. I felt he is fake because he has no italian accent. I came to london when i was in my early twenties but i still have my african accent.

Also Italian names end with the letter O eg.. philipo, mario,. And some end with letter IA eg maria, The names he gave us including his sisters names are very english( british/american).

anyway dats my point n sorry 4 if i offended u. tnx

  • @imelda4jesus hi, All the points you have found confusing and difficult to understand are simple facts about the people as a race, The publisher of this video also commented saying about finding the necessary research on the web, this is essential if you wish to understand this mans story. it is probably a simple mistake people make, they see the word "indian" in "anglo-indian" and forget the anglo part, Simple research would correct within a instance. thanks

  • @luddoo0 ok, but anglo asian means...half british half indian..? this man said he is italian.. how can he be anglo asian.?? anyhows i will do the research you have suggested. Cheers xx

  • @imelda4jesus Not necessarily ONLY British. "Anglo-Indian" is a loose term that encompasses all European nationalities. Eurasian is probably more accurate. My own family, going back to the late 1800s, are part Indian, Portugese, French, Spanish & Scottish. My grandfather was from Marseilles.

Inspite of this my family were termed "Anglo-Indian".

  • @taildragger53 Because your family was apart of the sub cultural group in India called "Anglo-Indian". Read some history will you?

  • @citizenOfNowhere777 So you know me do you? You can tell what someone is like from one blog? You are one arrogant , pseudo-intellectual prick.

  • @taildragger53 But your grand-parents (and may be parents too) are mostly Indian. Accept that reality.

  • @imelda4jesus In the UK there's a pop music manager called Ivan Marrazzi. He's on the web....i knew him back in the 1980s. Real sweet guy. He's part Italian, British & Indian.

  • @imelda4jesus Believe me, WE are NOT fake!

  • Y didnt he try going back to the embassy? I'm sure if he spoke italian he could have gotten back home

  • @sasham3non May be he didn't want to go back to Italy.

  • Ravi, thats great to know, thanks for telling us that. I hope to be back in Chennai at the end of the year and will visit him again. He is still a striking figure and is fairly fit.

    All the best, Nigel

  • I've known this guy since I was in medical college. His Rickshaw stand was opposite Rippon Buildings, where they tie the horses that pull the hearse carts from the GH Mortuary. He used to look dashing and handsome . We used to call him Clint Eastwood. used to have an Italian accent then. Now rides a fish cart and speaks like an Indian

  • @DrRaviSantosham r u serious or just joking?

  • Why doesn't Mr Phillip Thomas contact the Italian embassy and ask them to help him ? I'm not sure if he held an Italian passport when he travelled in 1955. If he did, he can get some help from the Italian embassy to trace his family and get some help from them.
