  • Moeller's teams always underachieved in my opinion. I thought the 90 & 92' teams were the best in the nation and he couldn't get it done. He was a profound gambler and when you have the best team in the nation you don't need to gamble to beat a lesser opponenet. Hence we lost games we shouldn't have... or in the case of the 92' team tied 3 times.

  • Michigan got lucky

  • I was at this game, GEAH!

    GO BLUE!!!

  • Ever since the early 90's, CSU has had a pretty good program

  • mr historian sir how did we end up in the holiday bowl that year

  • I really miss Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson doing games together.

  • Toomer touchdown looks similar to Manningham touchdown vs Penn State in 05

  • thats EXACTLY what I thought when I saw it!

  • 48 degrees in San Diego???? I know it was December, but wow! Also, this was Gary Moeller's last game at Michigan and he doesn't know it. He never should've had those last two drinks that summer. Sad to see him go. In fact, when Lloyd Carr took over, he said it was the worst day of his life because of those circumstances he had to face in those last few days. His first game, a great comeback win over Virginia with a game winning touchdown from Scott Dreisbach to Mercury Hayes.

  • If Gary Moeller was allowed to stay as our HC, we definitely would have won more NCs than just 97, plus I doubt Moeller would have gotten pwned by Tressel. Im sure if Moeller stayed we would have been a dynasty.

  • I think your right!

  • @killercy13org IDK about that, Moeller had some God-awful defensive teams.

  • You know, reflecting on the years that Michigan did not do well like in 1994. They seems to rally at the bowl games i.e. the Hail Mary (I hate mentioning this) and they win the Holiday Bowl. The Applicahan State win last year and Michigan ended up winning the Capital One Bowl. A bad season turned into a good ending. Go Blue!!

  • It's funny watching the Holiday Bowl without a Big 12 or Pac 10 team not being in it.

As for best non BCS Bowls, here is my list:

    1. Capital One/Citrus Bowl

    2. Cotton Bowl

    3. Peach/Chick Fil-A Bowl

    4. Outback Bowl

    5. Holiday Bowl

  • what about the sun bowl?

  • The Holiday bowl has to be the best non-major bowl of the year, countless memories in this bowl game. Thanks Andy for posting this.

  • Capital One bowl is better.

  • Capital One/Citrus Bowl is a damn good game dont get me wrong, but the Holiday Bowl had had a lot of great games, BYU/McMahon comeback against SMU and Mizzou, Ty Detmers huge game where I think he passed for like 400 or 500 yards, 04 and 05 games were classic, plus this years Texas vs ASU.

  • todd collins with some speed on that scramble at 1:15. i hate how our quarterbacks would absolutely never scramble late in carr's career. that will change.
