Yeah we meant to edit the video down but just haven't found the time as we're always building something. Great idea on the overflow emptying into a larger cistern- when the monsoons come there is a LOT of overflow
You could almost edit out the first minute of this video and probably cut the time down. The rest of the video is awesome, great build.
You could have the water over flow empty into a rain barrel tall enough to get the 5 gallon bucket under.
To keep things cool in the summer perhaps you could go a bit underground, cooler ground temperatures beat out breezes. But that might be too much work.
Thanks Timothy & Star Explosion :) Star- we think it's a useful design for not only homeless people, but as inexpensive shelter & facilities for those displaced by environmental disasters (hurricanes etc). Planned to try to get the word out to FEMA etc, but we've been too busy with other projects to even get the materials list posted on our website. Soon though :)
Also, it's just kind of cool to have in your backyard as an alternative bathroom :)
Terrific design. All the parts come together so seamlessly! This sort of structure could become truly useful in a variety of situations. Heating water using the sun should be a staple in people's houses as it is, especially in hot climates.
ruff = roof? lol

Nice setup there! I bet a little hand pump could work to get the water in the tank too... No heavy lifting involved.
