A lot of people think the Opening Music sounds like 1920's silent film music. Actually I've been hearing a lot of Scott Joplin and it's clearly modeled after RAGTIME, which was before the 20's in the 1900 to 1912 period. A lot of this music is like ragtime piano rolls. It's very charming. I thought it was interesting the only time the Super Mario Bros 1 Theme is heard is when you go through a POTION DOOR to get a mushroom.
