Moreso I'm happy that we have a nation that stood up to all the pressures of socialist change and, so far, we have stalled them out. Socialized medicine is being defeated, a handful of the czars were forced to resign, and with every passing day the socialist agenda is getting weaker and weaker. Thank goodness that people have let the nostalgia wear off and have spoken up for themselves. So yes, I'm man enough to admit that my fears were wasted b/c i had lost hope in the people, but was wrong!

But, let's talk about this. Do you suppose that the reason why this 'socialist agenda' has not properly materialized is because it was never there in the first place? Or was it the tireless work of Republican champions who have voted against their own policies to prevent the Democrats passing legislation that has prevented the march of Communism across our political landscape?

Definition of socialist agenda refers to spreading the wealth and crippling our capitalist motivation. This is not the same socialism as karl marx but is and can blossom into a full blown socialist system if it is granted it's existence now. Obama just doesn't know what he's getting us into when he starts legislating our freedoms. Because we dont know what crazy person could get elected 10 yrs from now that could build upon the socialist ideals and create something diff then our constitution

Well, see, I disagree with out on a number of points there.

1) What freedoms is Obama (or the Democrats) attempting to curtail through legislation? None that I can see thus far.

2) The very nature of our political system means that if any crazy person did get elected, they do not have sole control of the government, and this is something unchanged by anything proposed by this Administration. There is no door being opened to anything, far as any legislation goes.

3) In terms of crippling capitalist motivation, what is more crippling to that motivation than an unregulated free market where unofficial monopolies are allowed to grow too big to fail? There can be no real competition against such entities, unless there are laws governing fair play to give the little guy a chance. An unfettered free market creates more potential for corruption than a regulated one; an irony that many those opposing socialism often miss. This recession is proof of those dangers

4) Even discussing socialism is problematic when looking at the legislation being proposed. The very reason it's come up is due to the fear of 'socializing healthcare'. Even the Public Option bill did not propose this. It merely sought to provide an alternative coverage system to those too poor or too ineligible to get it privately. The hooplah came from the existing insurers, who did NOT want any competition. What they were scared of: what if it WORKS for people? Their profits might slip.

5) Finishing up on the redistribution of wealth notion. The problem for anyone trying to claim that Obama is trying to steal everyone's money and give it to the lazy, does not match up with what he did, and what he always said he was going to do: lower taxes for 95% of America. Hardly Karl Marx incarnate, let alone Stalin.

This leaves the question of the top 5% who saw a marginal (like, 3%) increase on their taxes. What's that? Another Lexus? And why? To save the economy which props them up.

In other words, to stimulate the private sector which effectively shut down after the banks collapsed, and suddenly stopped processing cash through our economy. Without spending, without a cash flow, there IS no economy.
