I was never a big fan of this song until a couple of weeks ago. I always preferred the Frank Sinatra version. Now I am liking this version just as much.
frankie vallie is going to be down here in melbourne fl on the 17th of march hope i can get to the show last time my wife and i seen him was at radio music hall and boy did we have good seats so i hope to se this show
You can say you like this version better than Sinatra's, but to say one is better than another shows ignorance . Two complete different arrangements for starters. Sinatra does it in his big band era style while the Four Seasons do an up tempo 60's cha-cha version. And their voices, well are not even comparable. Just enjoy the one you like without insulting others who love the other version. :P
WE EACH HAVE OUR DAY IN THE SUN, ONLY THEN EVERYTHING WAS NEW, INNOCENT AND DREAMY. LIKE EVERYDAY YOU WERE STEPPING FROM ONE CLOUD TO ANOTHER. MEMORIES, HOPE I NEVER LOSE THEM..NEVER WAIST YOUR YOUTH , ENJOY YOUR YOUTH IT DOESN'T LAST. ALWAYS DO GOOD AND IT WILL FIND YOU ALSO..GOD BLESS OUR YOUNG PEOPLE !!
Thanks to @onsop and all of the great downloads that give us flashbacks of our lives and our youth, with the gift of a 3 or 4 minute hit record. @mysterytrax aww...you are making me imagine and wonder about those times...it must have been wonderful.I was born in '84 but I totally LOVE oldies.I would love to sit and chat with someone that lived those wonderfull times because sadly,I haven't .Awesome.
Sorry Sinatra fans.... IMO this is better. However, it's all opinion and for everyone to get in a debate over it is pointless. Arguments over opinion are pointless.
Frank Sinatra, C'mon, he was Cool, he had his moments but to compare his version, in EVERY WAY, to that of "The Four Season'S & Frankie Valli, I don't care, about the NUMBERS SOLD. The people who REALLY HAVE an EAR for the BEST SOUND, will tell U, THIS VERSION, STILL SELLS, cuz folks can APPRECIATE Their MEMORIES' of this version, & it's From the 60's, of MY GENERATION!!! Right, "Baby Boomers'?"
This great arrangement is by Artie Schroeck, not to take away from Charles Calello's arrangements at all. Artie also arranged "Can't Take My Eyes Off You". Artie also played the electric piano accompaniment and solo on "Summer In The City" by The Lovin' Spoonful. I agree this is Artie's and the 'Four Seasons' musical masterpiece, and outshines Frank Sinatra from a musical standpoint.
Sinatra doesn't have these brilliant harmonies behind and ahead of Valli's voice: there are at least 3 fugue combo's, and the pipes, 2 dead silences, guitar instrumentation all render it a more complex orchestration than Blue Eyes managed.
Sinatra's work with Axel Stordahl, Nelson Riddle, et. al. often concentrated, for his standard covers, on more intimate, sparse arrangements anyway. Each is good in their own way, but this kicked into the stratosphere as far as a pop-rock re-imagining.
yeah, I have listened this track so many times too. The instrumentation is brillant, and the voices are sweet. So, this is the best version ever of one of the greatest bands ever!

Beautiful song ! This song was sent to me June 18th 2011, by my friend from 1960, that was my dancing parder from many ago, we found one another after 50 years,
John died June 19th 2011 the day after he sent me this song!
This was one of our songs we dance to in the 60's!
My Dad use to play this to my Mother when they would have argued. He knew how to push her buttons so well. She was so easy when it came to my Dad. He was such an alcoholic and she was so frustrated with his drinking. But he could win her back so much. She would have never really have left him. He left cause he knew he was a mess and he didn't want us kids to be messed up.
Rolling Stone didn't pick a single Four Seasons song in their Top 500 of all time. Artie Schroeck arranged this song for the Four Seasons. Oddly enough, Artie Schroeck also played the unforgettable electric piano solo on the Lovin' Spoonful's "Summer In The City", which did make the RS Top 500. Bob Gaudio recruited Al Kooper for his first big break with the Royal Teens. Kooper played the organ on "Like A Rolling Stone", and "Positively Fourth Street" by Bob Dylan of RS Top 500 fame.
@FingerboardCorners Rolling Stone SUCKS!!! How could this and other 4 Seasons' songs NOT be included on ANY list? Their songs are CLASSICS. Shame on them. It's a BOGUS Top 500 list in my opinion.

@jim102353 Yes, Jim, at 61, I remember. One or two Sundays later, the Four Seasons appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show and performed this classic arrangement of "I've Got You Under My Skin"...
This guy's voice is great! I've been studying male sopranos and falsettos, and as far as I'm concerned, this guy kicks ass. He really knows how to use his voice, which is amazingly flexible and has many facets: a high, penetrating falsetto without vibrato, a deeper falsetto with a bit of "raunch" or grit, a very sweet tenor which he uses only sparingly, and a kind of expository voice with which he tells you the story. Hey, the Jersey Boys are OK, but nobody can quite come up to this guy.
Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God!!! I haven't heard this since I was a kid. No words can express how beautiful this is. Those Jersey Boys guys don't do this one because they CAN'T!
well,we can thank sinatra for this beautiful cut by the seasons, because the group heard sinatra do it somewhere in miami, and gaudio called valli in the middle of the night and said he had a Great idea for this song. And he was right!
WOW....Can he sing......So much more classical than the bs of todays music. Youth needs to learn about reality. thank you for posting this. Classic not like todays youths crap
What can I say? They are the best of the best, and having seen them in person, I say Thank You, God. I love this song and the music of my generation. Nothing like it.
What can I say? This is the best of the best..I saw them in person, and I'll will always love this song. What an era my generation lived in. Thank you, God.
On You Tube, I can relive my life. My Lost Love, family, the house I grew up in, Mom and Dad, school dances, signing year books at the end of the school yr. Buying a new "45" record as soon as it would come out, close friends, teenage tears. God, I could go on and on. Music, the heart beat of my life.
@Ilvcamusic - I cannot agree more ... we lived in some wonderful times and this is just a great place to relive it ... between the nostalgic tv shows, news events and mostly the MUSIC ... I can sit here and drift away to teh early and mid 60's to just dream of how great we had it ... thanks for posting it so well ...
Greatest arrangement ever of this Cole Porter classic -- the Chairman of the Board takes the runner-up prize to this wonderful Four Season performance...
@christinecassin Respect Eminem. He is the most talented songwriter to ever live.Just because you don't like him doesn't mean anything, considering you cant even spell. Frank Sinatra is my favorite musical artist of all time, but I still respect Eminem…and he has more talent in one hair than you probably do in your whole body.
@th3Arisaka i gotta ask you, do u think that eminen will be preforming his craft at the age of,say,50? os 60? or 70?. ill answer it for you, 30 years from now the four seasons will still be heard and eminen will be taking a dirt nap! now stick that in his crack pipe and smoke it!
@beggin1967 yes he will cause he has sold about 20X more songs then the 4 seasons, look I'm guessing your a grumpy 80 year old man. I like all kinds of music, which is why I watched this, unlike your old shriveled up ass. And he is 38 so lye he will still be performing….bitch
@th3Arisaka nope,not80,70,60,50,40.try 38 jerk, and i doubt very seriously that madcon has sold anywhere near the ,about 250 million units the boys have since 62 to present. you are just so jealous, and cannot fathom in your teany tiny brain, and other parts, why have the seasons been so long standing? just ongoing.this puzzles you, just like simple math, you moron! take that back to madcon, what ever the hell that means.p.s are u a person of color?
@th3Arisaka FYI, The Four Seasons sold over 100 million albums in their singing career together, that does not even include 45's. They are still selling well. pretty hard number to beat, don't you think?
Suzi it's been 28yrs since I last saw you and I miss you more than ever now .Why you left I guess I'll never know, but how it hurts still all these years later.Where ever you are I wish you the best. When I'm alone sometimes I can still hear your voice and I look for you in crowds. That smile ,those green eyes and that raven hair will stay with me forever. I will always love you.
Untouchable music the fabulous 60's and the fabulous Four Seasons....Frank Sinatra sang this song beautifully.. Four Seasons blows it away big time! Love it.. it certainly gets UNDER MY SKIN..and DEEP IN THE HEART OF ME! Sighs!
Thank you 70smusicman for sharing.. Don't resist! (wink)
@2009Denisem .. hey you SAID IT ~ this classic arrangment is very hard to top ~ Frankie was in disbelief when he heard they were to record it ~ but the arrangment 'blew him away' !
For PMOYER20 y FORZQUILA: in Latin America the Four Seasons was very heard and the group had a big success. The language is not an obstacle for appreciate the good music.
FORZAQUILA: this is not an italian band. They are italian-american from the United States of America
I'm double dipping here. I loved it when this song came out in the mid sixties. This is a truly great rendition of a classic song. What the Seasons did with song is magical. Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons were part of my mainstay aural vocabulary back in those days. Special and strange days they were. They got much stranger after 1967. Other doors to escape with came with Jim Morrison. By then my tastes were forever altered in different states. Understand? But the Four Seasons were great.
I am an English speaking dude. Couldn't help but notice the comments aqui all in Spanish. Habla Espana muy poco. Es is numero uno. Mucho bueno. Si! Si! Si! Mucho gusto.
Listen to this with headphones on. It sounds amazing on speakers but I think most everything sounds better with headphones. The stereo is used very creatively. :)
For me, this is the best version of this song, I love the way Frankie Valli sings this, with the 4 Seasons, and the ending is just amazing! A favorite...
This is great. Vocal groups are the best pop music especially this group.

This arrangement is genius. I don't know how I wasn't familiar with this. I've known the Sinatra version for a long time, and love it too.
The different harmonies, and changing the feel of the song back and forth, with the dead silence, and so forth, is breathtaking.

@th3Arisaka i gotta ask you, do u think that eminen will be preforming his craft at the age of,say,50? os 60? or 70?. ill answer it for you, 30 years from now the four seasons will still be heard and eminen will be taking a dirt nap! now stick that in his crack pipe and smoke it!
beggin1967 10 months ago
@beggin1967 yes he will cause he has sold about 20X more songs then the 4 seasons, look I'm guessing your a grumpy 80 year old man. I like all kinds of music, which is why I watched this, unlike your old shriveled up ass. And he is 38 so lye he will still be performing….bitch
th3Arisaka 10 months ago
@th3Arisaka nope,not80,70,60,50,40.try 38 jerk, and i doubt very seriously that madcon has sold anywhere near the ,about 250 million units the boys have since 62 to present. you are just so jealous, and cannot fathom in your teany tiny brain, and other parts, why have the seasons been so long standing? just ongoing.this puzzles you, just like simple math, you moron! take that back to madcon, what ever the hell that means.p.s are u a person of color?
beggin1967 10 months ago
@th3Arisaka opps, i meant eminen, not madcon, i hope u like them as well.btw, is mandm still on drugs?
beggin1967 10 months ago
@beggin1967 what in the hell…..are you talking about?
th3Arisaka 10 months ago
@th3Arisaka FYI, The Four Seasons sold over 100 million albums in their singing career together, that does not even include 45's. They are still selling well. pretty hard number to beat, don't you think?

@cagepondroad Thats impressive, but i dont wanna start a fight..but Sinatra is clocked at 500 million BUD

For PMOYER20 y FORZQUILA: in Latin America the Four Seasons was very heard and the group had a big success. The language is not an obstacle for appreciate the good music.
FORZAQUILA: this is not an italian band. They are italian-american from the United States of America

Gracias .

Listen to this with headphones on. It sounds amazing on speakers but I think most everything sounds better with headphones. The stereo is used very creatively. :)
