I met Frakes one night, in Coconut Grove, he sat down next to me and three friends at an outdoor bar overlooking CocoWalk ...nobody even recognized him. It was oddly quiet that night, and while he was looking away I bellowed out in my perfect Picard impression "Surprisingly slow in Ten Forward tonight, Numbah One !" He nearly jumped off his barstool. "Don't DO that!" he laughed. But he sat and talked to us for about 20 minutes, nice guy, was waiting for his wife Jeannie Francis.
What HAVE THEY DONE TO STAR TREK??????? It is time to stop making episodes. THIS IS A DISGRACE to the original shows. OMG!!!!! HORRIBLE WITH A CAPITAL "H"!!!!!
@GillesGerais ...The original episodes had a type of mystique to them...They had a "futuristic" flair to them... The present episodes seem to have become a satire to the old version of Star Trek...The new is definitely missing something. An example is...In the old versions..you would NEVER see anyone playing an instrument! It would be totally out of the characters of the crewman and women to behave this way. The way they acted reflected projected thinking into the future.
@rockdiva888 TOS was only futuristic if you were a child in the 1960s. By the standards of anybody under the age of 50, it looks about as "futuristic" as the Jetsons does. Everything from the film resolution to the set to the costumes to the dialog shrieks "the Baby Boomers' outdated dream of the future."
TNG, by comparison, presents the future as imagined by the 1980s, with digital CPU computer technology. Robots of the 60s were clunky and stupid. Data is the new frontier of humanity.
@EntropicMisanthropic Indeed! Plus if we accuratelly represent a (posible) future of the 24th century we wouldn't even be able to grasp it. It is incosivalbe to us. See how Data has no feeling and all? This is the thinking of computer tech in the 80s and 90s. Presently we KNOW that different achitectures of computers (like Artificial Neural Networks which is what Data's positronic brain should be) will in the near future be capable of human emotions and androids will be all human if we wish it.
@stylianyt Data's creater Dr. Noonien Singh removed his emotional chip willingly. He didn't want Data to be too human like Lore (who with a really good makeup artist could pass for human). In a couple of the Star Trek movies, he has his emotion chip in and there's a huge difference.
@rockdiva888 ...they have stopped making episodes. This show is from the 80's. How big is that rock you've been hiding under?
Also, violins and pianos have been around for hundreds of years, and we still play those. Why would people give up instruments in a couple hundred more?
Are you new or something? This was filmed in 1988. TNG went on to be one of the most popular Star Trek series ever. There's been 3 spin-offs since then, of varying quality.
You need to catch up, They stopped filming TNG in 1994. On top of that, this is BLOOPERS. Not the actual, final episode. Damn.
