Yes referring to his former Taumako ancestor from Atafu. In the Tokelau group Olohega or Swains Island was discovered by Quiros on 2 March 1606 naming it Isla de la Gente Hermosa. He discovered golden/red haired people and this relation to Atafu tracks back to the possible movement from central Polynesia to West and East ARCHAEOLOGY OF ATAFU INITIAL RESULTS FROM 2008 David Addison.
Quiros was accompanied by Luka a navigator from Sikaiana an atoll with links to Atafu (ref Fienberg, R.1995).
wow!!! seriously? Is he talking about the other chief,Te ariki Taumako? or is he referring to some other chief from Tokelau? sorry I can only pick up bits and pieces...my grasp of both languages is very little:)
