Ohp...No clue how I missed your 2011 update on the handguard. Didn't know they made a newer version of it. Hehe, I see you didn't like the newer tool as much either. I forgot to mention I was really impressed with those little rail segments. I didn't know they were metal or aluminum. Was thinking they were polymer or maybe rubber, it was a very nice surprise.
@EverythingisFire ...yes the newer version has the longer attachment rail piece bolts. I complained to Troy and they sent me a whole new rail with all the acc. Kudos to Troy!!!

Your rifle looks great! Loving that handguard(not a fan of any vertical grip but no worries). Stuck between this and the one with the more oval slots.
@EverythingisFire the one with the slotas are also made by Troy, but I like that style too, but they are a bit more money than this one. You can find this rail for $150 shipped if you look around.
When I finished your vid last night, this stock was winning haha. It just looks sooo good! That's good that it's cheaper too, makes the decision easier.
Troy had a great price on this for their black friday sale. It was 30% off most Troy products so I think it brought it down to $120-130. Also bought their fixed sights to put on it :)
@EverythingisFire .....you are correct sir. I bought the Alpha 9" no sight, and there version of a BAD lever. I hope the lever will fit on my billett lower, cause the Magpul rubs. Free shipping too. Awesome deal!!!
Received my handguard and iron sights. Really, really good quality, I'm very happy with them! The TRX is soo slim and light weight! Slightly bummed on the Troy tool. It's not like yours, it only has the shape for tightening their barrel nut and the square for a torque wrench. Not having the standard D-ring option is no big deal at all because the Troy is the only one I have. Wish it had the flash hider notch =/ The tool is thick, though, still good.
@aaronready1 ...I would call Troy Ind. direct and say you bought it and the wrench was not it box, more than likely they will send you one for free or just shipping cost.
@mrpicky510 ....good call, but it was the other way around. Allen was metric and I needed a SAE. Funny thing was that the allen key included in the kit to attach the rail pieces was the size I needed. How Ironic...LOL
on my ar I have a nc star 3x9 which is actually accurate for the price thats on a 16in. barrel on the 20in varmint barrel ordered a Falcon menace 4x14 w/ffp but for the any thing over 200yds I break out the Mack Daddy Falcon Menace 5.5x25x56mm on my 308 WindRunner touch'em at 800yrs.it all depends on application and budget
@dogbutter69 or anyone that can help.. So how do you know if the gas block hole and barrel hole are perfectly align? Obviously you can't see it.. I did the same thing( removing the end cap) and replacing stock gas block with low profile gas block. Thx
if at 35lb torque and your gas tube lines up.. no need to think that it's not tight enough.. the barrel nut will not back out as the gas tube will keep it from doing so. i have seen people tightening it too tight.. i am assuming that barrel was already on the receiver.. or you should torque or and loosen it 3 times before putting the gas tube in. your hand guard is great..
part2. you mentioned the barrel nut won't line up for your gas tube.. it's important that your gas tube is straight. if you tilt it to fit into the gas block.. that puts the gas tube in a bad angle and will wear our your gas key on your bolt carrier, if your bolt functions at all. so that should be looked at. the trick on the barrel nut is that the nut does not have to be super tight.. it should be between 35-80lb torque.. so set with with 35lb torque then torque more to line up.
hrm.. i glanced through the comments and i did not see any advise on your gas tube, block, and the gap... so here is. first.. when you put the gas block on, you don't put it by just wedging it against the step down on the barrel. your gas hole on the barrel and your gas block must line up. if it does not, you will have cycling problem. so when you said you tilted the gas block a little, that's a bad idea because the gas hole will not line up that well.. so you should fix that. part1
hey man I need your help I just mada a vid about and your the only one thats has both I have the MRF troy rail and I like it because it solid but I'm thinking about selling this for the new TRX I dont use my side rails and I never seen or messed with the TRX and I wanted to know your opion ((is it better than the MRF is it more or the same sturdy)) hope you can help also is alot more lighter can you tell i difference thanks man take care
you can grind down the little tit that was in the way. You really should align the block so that it is straight. if this has been said sorry, i didnt read all comments.
does that rail attatch like a hogue free float tube a have a ruger sr22 and i had some generic quad rail and swaped to a free float tube but miss the rails my 22 even though it looks like a ar there is no gasblock or piston just a thread that is attatched to my reciever just like the delta ring
@jebustheone ....Ive been looking at that same upper from BCM. Always out of stock though. The upper in this video is way to heavy. I'd rather have got a 20" barrel than this 16" heavy barrel.
@pock8size ...the rail is one of the lightest on the market, due to it only having 1 rail on top and the otheres are pieces you attach where you want them. I got this one from Dynamic Armament. If you join there website you get a discount all the time, as long as your signed in.
@Oxstayne ..I thought about it, but since it's a heavy barrel I went with the lighter 11" rail. Not much weight savings, but every little bit counts when you start adding a bunch of acc. to your AR. It gets heavy real quick.
I saw a different guide on how to install the barrel nut and they said 35 ft lbs. I don't know jack about installing barrel nuts but it sounds like you have it too tight.
@Plur307 actually my problem was I didn't have it in the vise very secure, so I used wood and rags and got it in the vise better. As far as the torque goes you really have no choice cause you have to have the notch in the barrel nut aligned for the gas tube. The notch before the one I have it to would have been way to loose. I got it all perfect now.
The reason I checked out this video is because I'm thinking about buying an ar15 and I want the rail you have, I'm trying to figure out if I could install it myself or not. I've seen a few guys who cracked their upper trying to use a vise and improper tools. I think I'll just pay to have it installed if I end up getting one.
@Plur307 ...to be sure you wont damage your upper it's highly recommended to get a vise action block, which secures the upper in a clamp and the vise clamps to that and not the actual upper. They are expensive for a one time barrel nut change.
How about a shout out to Goindeff for getting your ass to build an AR? Naw im kidding dude. That thing looks bad ass! And you shouldnt have any problems with the gasblock. Really it all come down to the test fire.....so if you have problems with feeding then you know where to look. And let me guess you put the upper in a vise with a towel didnt you? haha good stuff good luck with it.
Looks awesome!!! I just got that same forgrip/bipod. Still deciding on an upper and how I'm going to order without the wife taking notice. I'm going to buy another LRB lower this week. My shooting group has a deal with LRB because they're local. I get the lower for $60 and the LPK's for $55

You should be ok as long as the gas port is on spot and the gas tube is lock in the port. The Triangular part is part of the assemply for the front sight/gas port, The barrel nut can be a pain to get to align. I have a custom 24 kreiger barrel that wouldnt go back into the right hole of the nut. You need to make sure the gas port is on the right spot on the barrel and the gas tube is secure everything else can be played with. Bolt carrier has to seat too!
Thanks man. The tube is secure in the block and pinned correctly. I didnt remove that part, so it is set from the armorer I bought it from. The charging handle doesn't rub on the tube and the carrier seats perfectly. nice and smooth, so I'm just gunna shot it and see if it cycles, if not, it's back to tweaking on it.
Thats what I figured the gas would just blow out the front and not cycle. I just wasnt ok with tightening that barrel nut any further. I need a better action block.
You dont need to put that handguard retaining cap back on. Its only there to retain the standard plastic handguards and since they're gone, you won't need the cap. Plus, I dont think if it would even fit under the Troy forearm anyway. So you're good to go.
As for that little gap between the gas block, when I put my Troy forearms on my uppers, I removed the retaining cap and left a little gap (as much as there would be if the cap were still there). I doubt it matters but I did it anyway.
@andrewjarvi Thanks dude. I hope I dont need that gap, plus like I said it's not exactly staight either so I need to be sure on this before I fire it. It doesn't say anything about the gap in the installation instructions???

You should have not turned the gas block. The gas block gas port is most likely now not aligned with the barrel gas port.
