Ooooh, well done sir, well done. He's my favourite incarnation of Rattrap too. Rat mode: utterly beautiful. Bot mode? Interesting. Unique. Questionable... And that transformation! Luverly. Beast Machines, Beast Machines...the oddity and inconcsistency in the line makes it interesting. This one's a bit of a gem. Ah wuvz him, and ah must reviewz him. Whenz ah can be arsed. Great work!
As much as I do like Beast Machines, some of the toys were a huge hit and miss with Rattrap being one of them. I've never really been ok with the fact he is a mega size toy when his previous toys were alot smaller, good points though he has some damn good detail and as weird as the hunchback look to him is I think its there for a good reason. Only downside was this toy has terrible hands.
@BigTransFan Yes. In fact Hasbro really needs to take a good long hard look at itself in the mirror and pay hommage to what essentially saved Transformers for a terrible death, that being Wars and and Machines.
@exillionXLR The best part about knee-wheels are when you spin on the spot. Now, if your head can be on a free moving rotational joint you'll never get dizzy as your body will spin while your head remains in place! Easy.
@DrewsiferXXX I'm not sure where I stand on the shows. BM is a better whole show, but mainly because it was shorter and they'd already had BW as a working point. BW is let down by most of season 1 and lots of filler episodes. But, BW has Dinobot. I can't decide.
SWEET Rodimus collection !!!! As for BM Ratrap , alt mode is wick'd sick dope but for robot mode WTF ( indeed !!! ) , still I got'em , keep'em coming Viga !!!
So I dont mean this in a shitty way, but which awesome beast machines molds are you refering to? I'm honestly curious. Maybe I just havent seen them? The other side is pretty inarguable (ahem, silverbolt cough cough)
As for this figure you got here...
I like him! A cool cyber rat, and his robot form is sweet, just doesnt scream "rattrap" to me. I think you're right, the bulky upper body is what does it..
@mantis999999999 some of the bigger vehicons, the massive Primal that was released in the RiD line (but which was a BM toy), the Megatron head thing. Not many, but there are some!
it is a good rat mode, 1:1 scale alt modes have something awesome about them indeed. Like you say, he is a bit odd, a bit weird and awkward like the rest of the line. Beast machines is almost sort of very "euro" contrasting the japanese/american super hero or combat focussed aesthetics, they don't look like fighters as much as they look like people wearing the experience of fighting in a challenging way.
@damnyouhussies Rattrap's really the only one that is clearly not the fighter, he's the science guy where Primal leads, Cheetor is assault, Night Scream scouts etc. I was very put off by the change in his character and it's only really by watching the entire series that the changes were justified.
@waspshot23 it's an interesting twist in his character but by the end you realise he's just as cool as he's always been. Beast Machines is a tough show, it requires faith to see it all the way through.

I have 2, and there BOTH amaaaazin.
clever transformations, imaginative. But, they dont conform to what a "Transformer" usually is?
I guess the ability to see what the toy is supposed to look like in our "minds eye" has gone.

@smsno1 2 BM Rattraps? Why!?
Very true but I'm starting to like the non-transformers transformers.

i liked BM better.... sorry
the toys are not as good...
I found night scream at the thrift store.... he was too broken to buy but I liked the over all impression. which was CREEPY AS HELL.
I would give just about any toy I own for a screen accurate Jetstorm.
nice review as usual.
