Nick Clegg has pulled nothing more than a coup, but probably and thats a big probabilty at the expense that Lib Dems being a twenty seat party in 5 years that wouldn't put him in a position of making another coalition again if we have another no overall majority. Tax credits has given a lot of single mothers the chance to afford to go to work, sadly they may come into the Tory genralisation of being spongers when they have to leave their post of employment when they can't afford to be there.

@drofheim: Hardly. The recent poll shows that just 3% of Liberal Democrat votes have gone to Labour - which puts the Liberals at 21%. Considering that was 24% at the poll just before the election, I'd hardly say that means that the Liberals will be slayed at the next election.
Besides does anyone really consider that Labour under the Millibands in 5 years will be any good? Labour require a good 10 years, perhaps 15, in opposition to sort themselves out. In that time, lots can happen.

What you forget in a hung parliament is that the Lib Dems are the ones who get to decide what happens next. So Nick Clegg does have some clout in matters. Anyway a lot of Labour MP's are calling for Brown to be replaced if there is any hope of a Lib Lab Government.
