Never heard this before but found it because I was doing a search for a classmate of mine (Gregg Arreguin) who played guitar on this album. Interesting. I didn't know he was into this kind of music...when I played with him in high school he was definitely into rock. Unfortunately Gregg passed away shortly after appearing with KD Lang on her "Live" dvd. He was a great guitar player!
When I got to college I had been playing trumpet for about 10 years, and I was starting to wonder whether there was anything innovative that could be done with the instrument. Yes, Miles Davis, yes, Lester Bowie, Don Cherry, but then I stumbled across Jon Hassell. Man.
