  • SPOILERS

I'm so happy he didn't die during the red wedding. I hope Martin will bring him back- one of the best supportive characters.

  • It make me feel so sad to watch this scene.

  • I still get a sense of dread when i see this scene

  • The Greatjon, a dangerously insane human being

  • @unclebreezybum Epic blend of Game of Thrones and Family Guy references there :L

  • RAHAWHAWHAWHAW

  • This scene is freakin' awesome

  • Lord Umber is the biggest badass ever o_O

  • What other crazy bastard can crack a joke and then start laughing when they just got two fingers bitten off. And that is why Greatjon is easily on of my favorite supporting characters.

  • @blackdot550 Glover is one of mine. ... ... :p

  • I love how Bran is in the top 2 comments and he didn't even say anything.

  • Davos: Now you know how I feel.

  • Dont mess with Grey Wind Lol

  • Never go to a fray wedding! thats all im saying wink wink nudge nudge ;p

  • "So green he pisses grass."

    That's awesome.

  • I fucking love Greatjon Umber.

  • I FUCKING LOVE THOSE DOGS

  • @FanMaster1000 You're such a cunt, why ruin it for people who haven't read the books? :/

  • Way to ham it up, Umber

  • It really sucks how they have to use normal dogs for the dire-wolves. It really keeps them from looking threatening or scary. they're supposed to be twice the size of the biggest wolves.

I guess there's not much they could do about it, apart from making them CGI

  • @Theriot6592 They producers said they used normal sized wolves in season 1 in order to for the audience to develop feelings for them and make it look like they were still growing. Notice how Grey Wind is absence in the last episodes when the war starts, but is mentioned by Lannister generals killing horses. They producers went on to say they would use full CGI in season 2 to show the wolves actual size.

  • Bran: What . the . actual . direwolf . fuck?

  • Tough endeed that is one tough bastard that Umber

  • that dog is always bitting people

  • severe blood loss and shock can do this to you

  • @nevermoonawolf People in medivel days were much more tougher

  • @alexpascu2785 no they werent they were more deluded

  • @nevermoonawolf It was just on opinion

  • @iamForze you, my friend, are an ass.

  • Only true men just laugh if off after they've had thier fingers ripped off by a dog.

  • @ninjaguy1995 Thats no ordinary men thats Umber the scurge of Hores LoL

  • this is so wrong.. in the book robb actually commands grey wind to attack the greatjon.. way to good ridding robb out of his coolness

  • I imagined greatjon umber being bigger, with a beard to his belly button. Their sigil and signature is a giant.

  • Fuck the Freys

  • Oh Robb, Robb... :(

  • @AronofskysKumo

    I know your pain.

  • @MrCamperCarl When I read that part I still had hope on Greywind, but oh boy... oh boy...

  • Couldn't they find any really big actors? The Greatjon's supposed to be immense!

  • I know a certain house that is FUCKED when the Greatjon breaks free... and it will be glorious.

  • my favorite scene in the whole season

  • It's OK - it was his left hand; generally swordsmen (and people in general) tend to use their right hand, and Umber is no exception. Besides, he lost two fingers that aren't that importrant anyways; he still has his thumb and two fingers beside it.

  • It's a good thing it was his left hand, if it was his right he'd be hampered for combat duty.

  • fucking greyjoy i hate him

  • @ardaxoy It annoys me so much that they even show him being the first to rise here when the Greatjon tries to go for Robb, Theon says himself how he cares for Robb - but... he's just such a fucking scumbag deep down it makes things like this hard to watch.

  • @AncileOmega I think they deliberately made Theon more sympathetic, erased Jon's negative opinion of him and made him closer to Robb just to make it that much worse when...Theon's actions...occur.

  • @ShadowSonic2 I agree. They didn't have much screen time for him in S1 so they had to get as much mileage out of him as they could, to lay the groundwork for S2. The book doesn't exactly make sense on that front anyway: Both Theon and Jon Snow were the odd men out in Winterfell, so wouldn't they be friends? There are things the book does better, but there are also things the TV show does better.

  • @ardaxoy don't worry he gets his

  • cant wait to see Robb's meal with the freys

  • I love how Bran is like "wtf is going on?"

  • I love Bran's look of "WTF" when everyone starts laughing

  • The insane maniac laugh really sells it

  • Northern finger food...

  • gotta love how batshit insane the northerners are

  • @PropMonkey87 Just like in real life!!

  • best scene in the first season (in the book my favorite scene was when lord tywin meets the mountain clan leaders)

  • Kind sad though how Theon was so protective of robb

  • @JimmyChiffels was thinking the same.. :D

  • john umber dont like this.

  • the Greatjon is awsome and so is Robb.

  • And this scene is the reason the northerners seem to win alot of battles

  • i love how tyrion drew his blade before grey wind even reacted. kinda sad, actually, in my opinion.

  • @EnteiWolf tyrion wasnt there

  • @TheDeserthunta yeah, i know. i was thinking theon, and wrote tyrion instead. :/

  • @EnteiWolf How does the Great Jon even compare to Tyrion? He 5 times Tyrions size.

  • I used to have 5 fingers. But then i took a wolf to the knee

  • @eXCepti0n6 to the hand*

  • **MINOR SPOILERS**

I'm a giant robb fan but i couldnt help but catch him saying oathbreaking was punishable by death...

  • @teh117 It was deal, not oath.

  • @teh117 Well, he didn't recite any laws about oathbreaking in this scene either. He's just expressing that it would be a good excuse to waltz in and kick someone's ass.

  • fucking spoilers on the comments just made me want to die

  • @CSLrage lol, you never read comments if you dont want to be spoiled. it's like cutting yourself all over, jumping into shark infested waters naked, and being surprised when they viciously tear you to pieces.

  • @4LackOfaBetterNam3 I have only myself to blame, i'm young and naive :/

  • I see the Banner of Bolton at :15, but no Roose Bolton. Just a mention or a cameo woulda been cool. HBO, Y U No give me Roose Bolton in season 1?

  • @CallMeVox Where the hell do you see the flayed man? I don't see anything even resembling it.

  • I actually laugh at the fact that I recieved so many negative votes to my comment :D It wasnt ment to be serious or else I just read about it so often in your comments its just annoying to see literally everyone posting the same thing :)

  • gotta love that British humor.

  • Greatjon Umber used to disrespect House Stark, then he took an arrow er... I mean a direwolf's bite in the hand!

  • Meanwhile in the north...

  • Awesome scene.

  • @SlothGamer60 sorry i didn't get the joke could you please tell me?

  • Greatjon is by far one of the most bad ass characters. Next to the Hound and the Mountain.

  • Bran's reaction sells this completely!

  • Lord of the North!

  • @BIRISHPM King in the North

  • "hodor?" said everybody at the feast.

  • I love how Theon is all ready to shank Greatjon.

  • WTF???!!! he just got his fingers bit off

  • The Greatjon is my hero.

  • Bran is like WTF? Is this what men are like?

  • Roose Bolton leads the vanguard, thanks.

  • the 1 dislike is lord umber

  • erhmm *scratch back of neck* heh.. heh, hahha.

  • @Anarchizer he's one of the main characters

    also, SPOILER ALERT

    he outlives rob

  • @Anarchizer I DO !

  • @Anarchizer well, this scene in the book was written from Bran's point of view

  • @Anarchizer Are you a derp?

  • @Anarchizer not me for sure, i personally hate all the chapters he headlines (except those where he witnesses the awesomeness of other characters), i've been reading them in diagonal since a storm of swords.

  • AHUAHUAHUAHUAHUAH

  • hilarious

  • Like if you ever want to have Thanksgiving with the Starks.

  • Comment removed

  • Isn't that House Bolton's siil in the background ? Argh....

  • @Angarwaen Bolton' sigil is a flayed man

  • Bran's like: "Wtf just happened..."

  • I love Robb's Gendo Pose.

  • he really is a king.... the first is ''and when im done with the lannisters.. i will march north... root you out of your keep... and hang you for an oath breaker..

second ''tell lord tywin... winter is coming for him... 20000 northerns coming south to see if he really does shit gold'' SUCH A BOSS

  • LMAO? lol. XD this guy is fucked up XD laughs after losing his fingers? -_-?

  • Ahh Northmen, 10 seconds after getting two fingers savagely ripped out they have a laugh about it.

  • The only thing I didn't like about this is how they cut the moment afterwards which shows that even tho Rob is acting so badass with his bannermen (didn't even blink when threatened by man three times his size... and with three times more men), he was actually deadly scared the whole time and inside is really unsure about the whole campaign, but hides it, like the true lord should.

Really gave depth to his character, made him more than some random badass

  • Haha, wouldn't it be funny if Robb Stark pretty much dominates the Lannisters on many fronts, but makes a dumb decision and pays for it later. Oh what a laugh that would be eh!?

  • @shearoberts Damn you and your spoiling!

  • @vhamp who says that's a spoiler? Believe everything you read on the interwebs?

  • @shearoberts I don't believe what i read on the interweb, but i remember what i read from the books.

  • @vhamp Then I guess it's you who confirmed it as a spoiler :P

  • @shearoberts yeah alot of us also read the books.

  • @Xantheus07 Then why complain if you already know? Should I also spoil what happens to the rest of the characters?

  • Bran, WTF look

  • @outforsushi

I know, many gifs should have come out of that scene...

  • Sigh this show doesn't air in my country, probably never will.

Is that supposed to be a wolf? Looks like a puppy...

  • @DeathtoRaiden1 Well, he was still a puppy.... he is supposed to be a direwolf, 2 or 3 times bigger than a normal wolf. Maybe, half the size of a horse.... hopefully in season 2 they will finally look right

  • @Bayard1503 Good luck there. Considering that even in this season they showed the wolves only when it was absolutely necessary, I suspect that they aren't exactly likely to cough up even more extra dough for convincing CG effects. They set up the standard pretty high with those dragons, and they'll have to pay for them as well.

  • @Lightice1 Yeah, they announced (maybe a month ago) that the direwolves would be CGI'd... they'd have to in order to show Grey Wind fucking up Lannister bannermen and horses.

  • @CaptainPengu Well, here's for hoping that they don't fuck up the general quality of the show with sub-par CG then. My guess is that they'll limit the wolves' apparances even more to keep up the level of the animation.

  • @Lightice1 Yeah, I doubt they'll emphasize the grown dire wolves' battlefield presence... I think the only 'big battle scene' they're going to implement is Blackwater anyway.

  • Anyone who can laugh about a wolf turning their fingers into snausages is a man I would want leading my Vanguard, true story.

  • fucking freys..

  • @SRStrollisSRS They sure do know how to plan a wedding!

  • @shearoberts LMFAO

you are a legend, thank you for making my day

  • Greatjon Umber is the man.

  • oh my Christ Robb is soooo fucking sexy!!

  • Brans just like: I dont get it

  • Great Jon is badass. He is very crazy in books too!

  • You know someone is fucking beast when he gives someone respect for having his fingers bit off.

  • Ultimate troller, this guy does not give a single shit about his fingers.

  • I never understood the joke though... Can someone explain whats all about that meat?

  • @StillOnMars if the greatjon pulled a sword on his liege lord then the punishment is death,so hes saying well let it slide because you where just cutting my meat wink wink, and he cut his fingers off in the process,

its part joke, part not being exectuted (y)

  • Bran has that look on his face at the end like 'what the f**k just happened?!' (LMAO)

  • BRAN'S FACE AT THE END

He's just like "Wow this dude is freakin nuts"

  • Good Dog!

  • @viewernewest

You dont need to give him a treat though.

  • Pff . And Joffrey cries over a little Dog-bit. Lannisters are way no men, (except maybe Tyrion , he is the coolest)

  • @killerrj8

Watch out for Jaime, he will surprise you ;)

  • @Eckendenker I didn't read the books yet. And I please you not to tell me , BUT can u tell me if i can see what u mean in season 2 :-)

I just started reading Book No.1 Even though I saw the series. It's kinda boring now , because I know what happens from the series but I'll give it a try

  • @killerrj8

Unfortunatly Jaime isnt that present in the books until Storm of Swords. The scene "There are no men like me, there is only me" for example is moved from book 3 to series season 1, to introduce him better to the TV-audience.

Believe me, all the background you get for all the characters and the seven kingdoms themselves are totally worth it.

  • @Eckendenker Okay, dann lese ich das mal. Königsmund ist Kings Landing , stimmts ?

  • @killerrj8

  • Pff . And Joffrey cries over a little Dog-bit. Lannisters are way no men

  • Bran just had no idea what was happening.

  • my god, this scene is so epic. the akward laugh, the confused bran, the gregarious bannermen, the manly rob.

  • Poor Bran. He looks SO confused!

  • Am I the only one who thought of "That's what she said!"?

  • Bran's just sitting there like "WTF?"

  • i love the greatjon, haha

  • Bran looks so cute and innocent in this seen ,wondering if he should smile or tremble

  • @snedden27 Scene*

  • fuck robb and all of the starks. the lannisters are the coolest motherfuckers to walk westeros. all of the starks are stupid and they need to build bigger crypts at winterfell. oh shit, I forgot, the boltens own winterfell now and Theon (reek) turncloak helped put an' end to those cunts called starks. northmen suck ass just like you yankees up in the north of the states. us southern men and women have no equals in you. You all are a bunch of peter griffins.

  • @sandblasted88 I beg to differ, considering two of the Lannisters are guilty of INCEST...and I'm pretty sure that almost all of them are guilty of murder in some way, shape, or form. At least the Starks are HONEST, HONORABLE people. There are some Starks still around, and 'The North Remembers'. If anyone is 'stupid', it's Cersei and Joffrey.

  • @eternasapphiremoon81 Oh no, it´s just Cersei :D Joffrey is a psycho. She´s dumb bitch who doomed her kids.

  • @eternasapphiremoon81 Yeah, modifying Robert's will, executing Karstark, participating in the devastation of the Riverlands, and a lot more I can't reveal because it's spoilerish, is definitely honest and honourable.

  • @Angarwaen

    *WARNING SPOILERS*

    1. Ned knew Jofrey in truth wasnt the rightful heir, but rather Stannis

    2. The Karstarks willfully disregarded Robbs orders and rebelled against him. His honor demands they be executed.

    3. I'm not so sure the Northmen or the Rivermen were responsible for any pillaging of the Riverlands. It was Tywins doing by unleashing Gregor Clegane's forces and the Brave Companions to run wild in the Riverlands.

If anything the Starks show just how bad TOO MUCH honor can be.

  • @m1grant1987 Spoilers ahead.

    1) Yeah but as the rest of the story points out, the question isn't who is the *rightful* heir, it's about who you support to stay alive.

    2) Actually agree on the Karstarks, just thought it was a hell of a bad move.

    3) In Arya and Brienne's chapters, it's pretty clear from what the common folk say that "the Wolves" are as destructive as the "Lions".

But yeah, agree with the last sentence. Noting that the most honour-bound character is Stannis...hmmm...

  • @Angarwaen those are mostly Bolton and Karstark wolves, some of the Tullys particularly the Pipers and Blackwoods and Bracken are pretty brutal to their own people, but thats their right, Stannis is ..irritating he could have easily gotten the knights of the vale on his side by shipping off his daughter to the Eyrie, or he could have made an alliance with Robb earned his respect and eventually his allegiance, Renly was just as bad in that regard and worse considering he knew he had no right

  • @sandblasted88 The only cool lannister is Tyrion.

  • @sandblasted88 I disagree, the craziest motherfuckers are clearly the Greyjoys. C'mon, Balon who rebels no matter what, Euron the mad viking, Victarion the Badass of Badasses, the Damphair who goes on and on about drowning people to make them stronger, Asha who played with axes when other girls played with dolls, and of course Theon....Crazy-ass bitches, the lot of them.

  • @Angarwaen Oh I don't know the old Greyjoys have always been crazy to take on the other 6 kingdoms (that's tactically stupid) but looking back Asha and Theon turn up right or somewhat right. I think its because Theon was fostered in Winterfell and has always wanted to be one of the Starks. The boy wanted to be loved and be apart of the pact. Asha though she flirted with her own brother is also quite sane and more preferable than the old geezers.
