at concerts you cant hear yourself and your to excited to control your voice. i have a decent singing voice but i recorded a few songs at the last rk concert i was at and i could here myself butchering good music
"Failure To Excommunicate" is a criticism of the judgmental and exclusive nature of society. It says that the way of the world--with a shot at education (MT didn't go to/finish college)--is designed to fail you if you're different, judging you before seeing what you're really about inside. ("his gavel's gone down before he looked in your heart, finished this race even before you reached the start")
The title "failure to excommunicate" is simply a play on the phrase "failure to communicate."
The concept is based on the (former?) Catholic practice of excommunication or "kicking out" certain people from the church because of things they did or who they were. Matt Thiessen suggests that Jesus does not excommunicate people, even if they are hated by the world, because Heaven is open to all who accept Him.
