Even though I now have a Crown Vic, I still remember my 2005 WRX. These cars are sweet for turning laps at the track (they usually stick them in the same class as Corvettes and Vipers, and the laps aren't that much different, as the Subie handles much better).
If they built a Legacy GT with about 350-400 hp, I might just get back in the saddle for Subie...but I love my CVPI :)
I did the same but on a freeway at 2am. Cars rear spoiler actually plants the back end to the ground very well at that speed. All my car wanted to do was go straight. Very smooth ride to say the least.
it was probably about a 1.75 mile run. i should go back and do it again now that it's stage 2 protuned, zero the miles, and see how long it takes. id say about 1.25 miles to 154, but i'm not sure exactly how fast she will go now. probably 165+ now that it doesn't have the governer

the power band peaks around 6200 rpm. if you keep going past that, you'll just be going slower than you would if you changed gears and kept in the power band

i also think 155mph is the limited speed in this car.. i'm sure you can go faster. 155mph is a common "limited" speed on production cars. nice vid tho!

@MrNekits You typically don't want to go past your HP and TQ peak. You'll just make your engine do more work for less output. It's all about thermal efficiency of an engine (or any machine for that matter). Stock STi will produce max HP at 6k and max TQ at 4k.
@someguy217 True, but it's beneficial to rev to just past the peak power output level, so you have slightly higher revs coming into the next gear. Maybe 6400 - 6500rpm.
@someguy217 idk about that, because then when you shift, you end up low in the powerband, and have to work your way back up. if you shift a little past it, you'll end up closer to peak power but still in the powerband. it's all about maximizing the area under the power curve really

it was in 6th gear. i shifted to 6th right around 130 because thats where it tops out. the RPM in 6th at 154 was about 6100 so there was definitely room to go faster
its a porsche turbo. this is an STI. if your car cant do 0-150+ stock, please leave. my car now probably has as much power as that car after being tuned and can get to 150 in a little more than 35 seconds.
as I've said in previous comments, i wasnt going for the fastest 0-top speed time. i was just going for the top speed and not trying to get there as fast as possible.
well corvette and porsche cost substantially more than an STI. and the genesis is nice, but isnt as performance oriented like STIs or Evos. its more like a G37.
Ha even a stock neon srt can do 160 and alot faster. STI's have 0 top end as seen with my buddy's 07 that ran a 12.3 @ 108... It would take a 115+ trap before a fwd car would run that.
as i've said countless times before, do your research before running your mouth. SRT4's have top speeds around 149. not only do all car magazines say this, but I myself have previously owned an SRT4. i decided to upgrade to an STI and stock for stock the STI is much faster, low end and at top speed. unless you have owned both (and no your buddy's doesn't count) then stop talking. AWD > FWD anyway, noob.
i've made the mistake of owning 3 srt-4's lol... but your sadly mistaken there is NO i repeat NO speed limiter on a factory srt - 4 whatsoever. My first one with only intake exhaust wastegate using a gps went 164a little above 6000 rpms... Now my second one a fully built 50 trim srt can do well over 170 with a raised rev limter to 7000 rpms thanks to diablo and tuning at realtune.

The limit is set on your ECU -- if you have a Tactrix cable and something like ECUFlash and/or RomRaider, you can set the limiter to anything you want. The top speed stops pretty close to your Redline ... you may be able to squeeze a bit more out, but I wouldn't take the car past 7000 k (my redline on a '06) at that speed ... if you have a rebuilt engine or after market cams, etc... you can go faster.

@someguy217 True, but it's beneficial to rev to just past the peak power output level, so you have slightly higher revs coming into the next gear. Maybe 6400 - 6500rpm.

@someguy217 idk about that, because then when you shift, you end up low in the powerband, and have to work your way back up. if you shift a little past it, you'll end up closer to peak power but still in the powerband. it's all about maximizing the area under the power curve really

well, first off, i really think you need to add more question marks and exclamation points next time you reply. also, i dont think its necessary to put that. as ive said before, the title is "Top Speed in STI - 154 mph", NOT "The fastest top speed run in an STI with the fastest shifting evar". support the subie community, don't bring it down, especially since you OWN an STI.

it was in 6th gear. i shifted to 6th right around 130 because thats where it tops out. the RPM in 6th at 154 was about 6100 so there was definitely room to go faster

well corvette and porsche cost substantially more than an STI. and the genesis is nice, but isnt as performance oriented like STIs or Evos. its more like a G37.

Ha even a stock neon srt can do 160 and alot faster. STI's have 0 top end as seen with my buddy's 07 that ran a 12.3 @ 108... It would take a 115+ trap before a fwd car would run that.

as i've said countless times before, do your research before running your mouth. SRT4's have top speeds around 149. not only do all car magazines say this, but I myself have previously owned an SRT4. i decided to upgrade to an STI and stock for stock the STI is much faster, low end and at top speed. unless you have owned both (and no your buddy's doesn't count) then stop talking. AWD > FWD anyway, noob.

i've made the mistake of owning 3 srt-4's lol... but your sadly mistaken there is NO i repeat NO speed limiter on a factory srt - 4 whatsoever. My first one with only intake exhaust wastegate using a gps went 164a little above 6000 rpms... Now my second one a fully built 50 trim srt can do well over 170 with a raised rev limter to 7000 rpms thanks to diablo and tuning at realtune.

yea? I own a mid-to high 11 second neon srt how horrible. I also own an unfinished 1969 barracuda fastback orig. 383 formula s now on its way to be pro-street toy... man I remember when I did a bone stock top speed run in my 03 WRX 132mph and bam ECU said ENOUGH OF THAT SHIT lol. Damn govenor kicking in like it does if you ask me it can make you wreck it needs to just not let the car go any more not try to slow you down like that. But now it's gone and idk what it tops out at now definately more than 140 lol. I have 400whp so I definately have the power to get that fast lol.

it does, but this was when my car was still stock and i hadnt reflashed the ECU yet. now the speed limiter has been taken off, so it could reach around 170

The limit is set on your ECU -- if you have a Tactrix cable and something like ECUFlash and/or RomRaider, you can set the limiter to anything you want. The top speed stops pretty close to your Redline ... you may be able to squeeze a bit more out, but I wouldn't take the car past 7000 k (my redline on a '06) at that speed ... if you have a rebuilt engine or after market cams, etc... you can go faster.

OK i just seen it was on a lake bed.. so part of the top speed/ mileage is prolly due to the tire spin, dude you need to do this on pathment then i bet those number get closer to what i'm talking about..the wind+ lack of traction from sand will cause the tires to spin faster than the car is moving giving you a speedo reading of 154, you were prolly doing about 145 ish...( i know that sounds nuts ) but thats why the have timeing lights for top speed at those types of advents. wish i had a lakebed

I'll say it need about 4 miles for 154 ( i've driven one to the limit, altho i didn't bother to look at the mileage..and that is a guess ) but they do hit 154 like a brick wall...vette vs sti i'll take the vette but wouldn't be pisted off about the sti. now 60ft times i'm not going to talk about cause i have a SRT-4...and wel when my tires stop spinning i'll let ya know what the time is to the 60ft lol...NICE RUN AND NICE CAR...hope that wasn't sand..( can a vette do 154 on sand?????)LOL

OK ok ok you in a desert or something...when the cam shows like the path of the car all i seen was sand i think..( kinda short to see that ) Anyways...I have a hard time buying it does 154 in about 2-3 miles ( prolly closer to 3 miles it was move'n damn fast so there for covering more ground ) on sand...I'm thinking tire spin if on sand or maybe the odomitor is off...ok anyways..for those of you who don't think this thing is " stopped" at 154 has never bothered to look up the true numbers

haha sir, if you will look at the very beginning, the odometer says 4762, and at the end, it says 4764. So, in actuality, i probably went something like 1.5 or more miles during my run
