@fngrscr8dstroui Yes everything is "relative" and "theoretically possible". But I'm talking about facts. Aside from all of that, you seem quite defensive about the Saturn and are not able to be objective. Like I said before I love 'em both despite their flaws.
It's funny that you got you're info from Eidolon's Inn, as Eidolon is notoriously biased against Sony. And that one sided article you're referring to I read quite some time ago... Love Eidolon, but biased as hell sorry.
@fngrscr8dstroui PSX 500,000 texture-mapped and LIGHT SOURCED polygons/sec.
Saturn 200,000 texture-mapped NON LIGHT SOURCED polygons/sec.
In fact Saturn lacked light sourcing completely! And hardware video decoding, which was a big deal at the time. And quads, don't even get me started. Needless to say quads were a bad Idea... Tombraider...
Don't get me wrong I love both systems and still play them today. But face the facts, 3D on the Saturn was clearly an after though.
@fngrscr8dstroui The Saturn was not "capable of every graphical trick" as the PSX, Saturn's HARDWARE is lacking, that's a fact. And even in software there are thing that you simply can't or wouldn't want to do because it uses way too much possessing power. And both systems did not have same real-world poly count, not even close.
The Saturn was actually more powerfull than the PSX overall, it's just it was harder to unleash that extra power thanks to it being harder to code for
@segano1 I heard that the Saturn was nototoriously hard to develop for so many would-be developers were turned off by the difficulty adapting to it.
BUT! To be fair, the learning curve and compatibility are all very important parts in game console development, not just the power. For example, look at computer programming languages: Assembly is technically all hardware needs and can be optimal, but its much harder to learn and much less portable than say C++ or Java making it less preferred.
@segano1 Thats not entirely true. The Saturn had some serious 2D capability's But in the 3D department is was trailing behind the PSX.
The Saturn lacked alfa blending and the PSX could push more polys. Look at Resident Evil 1 side by side on the two systems too see an example of this. You can see the same on quite a few other multi-platform games released for the two systems.
I am selling my copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga on ebay at the moment.Iv just put it up on ebay for a 3 day quick auction for anybody interested in buying this rare classic.(free shipping worldwide aswell by the way)
The item number is 220467476749...so do a search in ebay and it will come right up!
uou... wonderful O_O i remember when i was a kid i was the only italian guy wanting a Saturn, that was cuz noone by the time read videogame magazines... and i was the only one knowing about the existence of such gems...
*lol* listening to the Japanese I'm pretty sure Azel doesn't say anything about love only "but I..." (dakedo watashi wa) (and that she doesn't want to be alone)
I remember desperately trying to learn/understand some Japanese with the game and I didn't even understand all the subtitles back then (always taking notes and then checking the dictionary XD)
ah T_T I want more Pandra games, esp RPG...loved Saga
not the best game on sega aturn but man what a burst of a story i would play it aggain but on the other hand i wouldnt,it is one of the best games ever and no 3D,this is better then all the quick play Finalfagasy games or other games on psx this has dept and not some pretty girls faces on dudes like in FF.
Great game! I watched this movie and I remeber when I plaid it. That is a pity that till today Sega has not produced a version on console new generation or better...for PC
i spent days tryin to get ssf workin just to play this game ..i get the intro up and wen i press start? it crashs on a white screen then says cd open :( .. its like its just not ment to be :(. help! anybody plz
I'll always feel stupid for not getting my hands on Saga. I've never been a big fan of RPGs, so my initial thoughts about Saga were 'eh'.. but from all I've read since, there was a good dose of shooting too, it seems.. I still play Zwei, but I so just shoulda got Saga too.. grr.
if you still have the game, it emulates ok using cassini. if it locks up at points, theres a program called turbo you can use to slow down your processor. gets you past those glitches :)i keep my saturn safely tucked away, and this video means i want to play PDS again. guess i should go get cassini :D
SSF actually does it better. I couldn't even get Cassini to run, but SSF ran like a champ. Also, as far as I know they're not even updating Cassini any more. Isn't it just a hacked version of GiriGiri?
the graphics on the saturn are unbelievable, the console was originally not even suposed to be a 3D console, a year before it released, Sega added their own arcade graphic processors into the console, and look how good it is... this thing eats the playstation for lunch.
Dude this is a Sega Saturn game, the console before the Dreamcast. Also, Dreamcast really wasnt programmed to it's fullest (except the shenmue games) where this game pushed the Saturn to its FARTHEST potential.
If anything, what cyclindk said was a compliment to the Saturn, and Team Andromeda for getting so much out of (what was) a machine that was a bugger to programme for.

It's the best way they could have thought to end PD Saga - Fighting every type of dragon, like fighting your own dragon, then fighting the God-like, dragon-like creature which throws every other thing nightmare from the dragon's past (from past games) at you...(e.g. 'Shellcoof', the ship from PD2: Zwei). Ah, the memories come flooding back...
I always found it strange that no matter what type of dragon you currently had, that same type of dragon would always appear in the CG before fighting Sestren.

i played the entire pzd sets xbox needs help lol but i did unlock from what i could tell every thing in pzds the key was the dunits and saving to see diferent responces to to game it was cool but the disk now are lost i love the game
I remember playing the final boss over and over to power level my dragon to lvl 100 to see if anything special came out of it. I got to 90 something then got distracted by another game. I gotta bust out my saturn and continue the journey for old times sake.

I plaid it and it is a pleasure to watch this movie.
I have been hoping for a version of this game on a new console or better on PC; it may be better if programmed by the engineers of Andromeda Team!

'I have been hoping for a version of this game on a new console or better on PC; it may be better if programmed by the engineers of Andromeda Team!'
It's TEAM ANDROMEDA and they cant program a new game because they disbanded after the release of Saga back in 1998.
