when we were little-45 yrs ago,my dad put us kids on a platform he built so he could level our ground,Up on the All American Canal, outside of Yuma,Arizona,we leveled our spot with a old old box springs matras (springs only left)And we all did the same thing, rode it for weight.Worked good too by the way, plus it was fun.
man i wish i can have a garden .but i cant even keep nieghbors kids out of my yard while im gone to work, never mind deer.guess ill have to keep farming the old way. step one ..get in pickup.
step two..go to walmart.
step three..buy veggies.
step four..return home and eat veggies.
its complicated i know but its the only way i can get veggies where i live.this working 3 weeks on and 3 weeks off is great except while im gone there would be no one to tend the garden cept critters.
Now I just feel stupid, it's a lot of work making my kids rake the garden. (it really is, lol) I could just be dragging around a big chunk off a sky scraper instead.
we been setting poles all day to keep the dogs out of the area that was dug up in the front yard . Its not that big but I have more rocks then I know what to do with now ..
When I was gardening in Alaska I used to drag a heavy 4'x8"x1"chunk of angle iron, with a 4'x10' chunk of chainlink fencing hooked onto it behind my tiller (BCS walk-behind tractor). Worked great for grading & raking out the clods in one pass. I also loaned out the drag to folks putting in lawns.
Down here I don't garden in one huge area, I use several small gardens so that I can get my separation of plantings for saving different types of same-species heirloom seeds...
hey if it works and its not broke why fix it use what works for you we built one kinda like that only added some chainlink fence for the middleschool to use on the baseball field they pull it with a utv unless they make the kids pull it for punishment
you are the man

I'm still partial to the straight rake upside down, but I am mostly doing short rows. Good vid as always.

Great way to do it. Now I need to find a large beam to do mine, and maybe someone else to pull it.

I thought I was working but after seeing this, I was lounging. lol. I'll stick to my raised beds for now. Work my way up this later, much later. :)

Here in the Lower 48 I haven't needed that setup.

@ironhead41 - I'm still in the minor leagues. I find it difficult to juggle work and beer. You make it look soooo easy!
