Bellows blown pipes seem such a waste of energy and focus on the notes.. I mean can't they perfect a mouth blown system that keeps moisture off the reeds of these smaller instruments?
@apologeticsman I think the opposite is true. What a waste your opposite arm is when not using bellows. I play Highland, Uilleann and Small pipes. Sadly my Small pipes don't have a bellows intake. I can play bellows blown pipes all night, and never have to worry about my mouth getting tired. I think your arm muscles are better at stamina then your lungs, lips, and cheeks.
Heilsa Pipervix, I had to sell my Kilberrys due to asbestosis, but I can't stay away, and the beautiful way you play, has this old man buying a set of smallpipes, may you continue to bless us all.
The tune is wonderful, I play myself the France Cornemuse, and the elctronic Highland pipe, witch has also the possibility to play the scottisch lowborder.
Is there a possibility that you can send me the sheet music?
excuse me but is there a differance between how you play those pipes and great highland pipes?....and is there a diff in the hand holds of a irish uillean pipe and the high land pipes?....
The fingering is the same as on the Great Highland Bagpipe, but they're smaller and have a different reed. I don't play Highland or Uillean, so can't say if there is a difference or not.
@pipervix the only difference between the great highlands and small pipes (apart from the reed and tone and what not) is that it's much more open to interpretation and ornaments are not so heavily used or focused on. it's much more musical rather than technical i think.
Wow!!! ...Good Look'n, AND... Plays the pipes!, I'm in LOVE!, I Play The Highland Bagpipes, Flute, and Accordion, we can make some beautiful music, Love the choice of song Played.
can you explain the differnce between scot. small pipes and border?? please not the physical difference; but the difference in origin. is it true that the 'modern day'version of the scot. smallpipes is actually based on (englsih)northumbrian pipes? are the border pipes closer to the pastoral/union/uillean pipes?
Just absolutely wonderfull... Very relaxing song
