yeah, excactly! BUT, unfortunately the scale is called the "spanish" scale, or complicated: Phrygian dominant. it seriously should be egyptian, but check out the real egytpian scale, it sucks ass.

B phrygian, E Aeolian, G Ionian, A Dorian ...are all the same scale - G Major.

G, A, B, C, D, E, F#, G. It just depends what your root note is.

I'd say it's more Bluesy But When I'm in it it's only one note off from the minor pentatonic box. I move around the neck because I know the connections and go with the flow. But It's hard to keep from starting in Dorian. I'm just not there yet. It's only been 1 year 10 months and 16 days since I started though. I'll get it I hope.

man dont even worry about scales when writing music. just stick to your creative vision and do what your heart and ears tell you is groovy. scales are just the categorization of that grooviness after the fact. diatonic modes are cool, but theres also thousands of non western scales that give a huge middle finger to the modal system. point is let creativity dictate your tunes, not scales.

Satch Get's it so well that he can just start playin now and make it sound like what he wants. That's what's so amazing about him.
