@ninetakesten I see your point as someone sympathetic to the trans experience and I definitely took notice of the fact that Chantal was referred to as still a man, which is not how I would have referred to her. But I still appreciated that this story modeled a realistic exchange between a straight man set up with someone he discovers is trans that ended civility and an attempt to be nice. @Jerzeeloni I think that some of the straight men I know would respond in similarly. People can be kind.

As for Transgender, yes that may be the correct term, but not the term that this character would use. He's not savvy like that, which is why he used the term pre-opt transsexual, which would be something he's heard. When I write, my words are very specific and true to the character. I hope you understand this.

However, Parrish realized his words hurt Chantal, therefore he went to apologize, especially since she wasn't trying to deceive him. What % of heterosexual men would do that? Not many, so my message is that there is no need for violence. I understand this is a sensitive topic.
@12stepswebseries I did appreciate the non violent way he handled the situation. His ignorance still irks me though (I know, he's an average dude). It would have been nice to hear Parrish or his friend acknowledge that Chantal is a woman, even if she still has a penis. Thanks for your response.

@ninetakesten i dont think people should be labeled as ignorant for failing to believe chopping your penis off makes you a woman. in my opinion, Parrish' character was slightly unrealistic with the way he handled the situation. I am glad it wasn't violent, but the average male would have high-tailed it out of there. And no, that does not make the "average male" ignorant.
