Their liquidity dried up.When the store near me in SoCal was going out of business, they advertised markdowns of 30-40% to delete inventory. When I looked at the prices the salesman stated the company accountants marked items down by 10%, what a bunch of idiots!

In my experiences at both stores, you could walk around Circuit City for days without anyone acknowledging you. At Best Buy, they're all up your ass every time you walk to a new department. I preferred CC, as I didn't need help with anything unless it was behind a glass case that needed a key to open. CC is missed.

I work at CC right now in MI and one of the biggest things we had going for us was are customer service. People who are saying best buy actually helped them is full of it.

If you haven't noticed, BB and CC stores vary greatly (due to lack of consistent training). One store might have awesome Associates and techs while the other managed to pick up some half wit who just happens to know how to turn one on. Our CC stores does great. We get a lot of BB customers just like I'm sure some BB stores get a lot of cc stores. Depends on your associates.

Best buy might be good over all because of its business strategies but TVs and Audio is owned by CC. Honestly, having worked both places, Circuit City has been much better to work for. Not only do they pay a lot better, the conditions are nicer, and a lot less stressful. Circuit doesn't make a point to remind everyone on a daily basis that if you fuck up, they'll replace with you with one of the 50 16-year-old applicants they get a day. And up until recently, they weren't hellbent on gross margin like Best Buy was.

CC does suck I worked there three weeks b4 I put in my notice. I hardly get any hours and they try to get me to convince people they need all this extra crap with their computers that they really don't need, I don't recommend anyone work or shop there.
Actually I sold roughly 8 computers during my three weeks there, the problem is they fill the employess heads with info on extra crap (warranties and firedog) and not actual info on the computers. Thats why they're broke as hell. One guy went through all the motions mentioning all the extra crap and the customer just got fed up and left. People want a sales person who knows computers not the ins and outs of firedog and warranties.
i sell about 8 for a 4 hour shift. and ur wrong. customers need to see the benefit in the product as well as services...there is a reason why stores offer them...it's not just to make money. obviously, you werent cut out for the jobs

Haha this video made me lol in real life i know a few of these guys Bob worked for Best Buy before migrating over to CC. And Jeff was probably one of the best CC managers i'd ever met. I work for one company but its not important which, both companies have plenty of fully knowledgable people that work there and the same amount of people that just don't care, but you get that everywhere. To bad Circuit City is finished. What a shame. NOT! Jesus one time I went in their to pick up some speakers for my car. Of course I could not bring it to the front myself! They had to bring it through the back and had me wait on line for 30 minutes while they "found" it. The speakers were only like 60 bucks. I have never had any problems with BB they are great.

Tomorrow (nov 3, 2008) at 8am Circuit City will announce that they will be closing 155 of it's stores just before the holidays.
CC's latest financial struggles come in the form of a letter sent from the NYSE. Because CC stock averaged a $1 or less closing price over the 30 days, the fund is falling short of the exchanges requirement. The company has 10 days to specify how the company is going to remedy the situation and maintain an average trading price of $1 or higher within six months.

heh, as a Firedog Tech, it just so happens that in our town we are the more knowledgable ones about our products. If you haven't noticed, BB and CC stores vary greatly (due to lack of consistent training). One store might have awesome Associates and techs while the other managed to pick up some half wit who just happens to know how to turn one on. Our CC stores does great. We get a lot of BB customers just like I'm sure some BB stores get a lot of cc stores. Depends on your associates.

Honestly, having worked both places, Circuit City has been much better to work for. Not only do they pay a lot better, the conditions are nicer, and a lot less stressful. Circuit doesn't make a point to remind everyone on a daily basis that if you fuck up, they'll replace with you with one of the 50 16-year-old applicants they get a day. And up until recently, they weren't hellbent on gross margin like Best Buy was.
But then again, every store is different, for both companies.

Actually I sold roughly 8 computers during my three weeks there, the problem is they fill the employess heads with info on extra crap (warranties and firedog) and not actual info on the computers. Thats why they're broke as hell. One guy went through all the motions mentioning all the extra crap and the customer just got fed up and left. People want a sales person who knows computers not the ins and outs of firedog and warranties.

the rex tv in new castle (yes the town where stores go to die) has more stuff to pick from than cc in boardman ever will. someone should put cc out of its misery.

Um Wow. So apparently people don't know that best buy will price match, their customer service is WAY better than CC, employee's have more fun, and the employees are so much hotter in their lil uniforms. Other than that the only true notes hit in this lame video are that BB has better music playing in the background and that they unfortunately have to deal with whiney, stupid, nasal-voiced, white soccer moms that don't have any business steping foot into a place as cool as Best Buy!!!!!
