I loved this car. But that roof was defective by design - it would leak and the track would get stuck. It's also way too big of truck for most consumers. I think the car that will change the market will be something like the Open Cargo Coupe Concept.
such a shame GM marketing didn't have the brains to market it right.
Ours was previously owned by a commercial delivery company that used it hard in NYC - yet we're now over the 100K mark and it's still running great. Better yet - KBB may say it's worth $5K, but here in the North East you can't find one for less that $9500.
I hope GM creates something like it again some day using one of their current platforms.
it's a cool idea, too bad it's still not being produced... a truck and an suv, sounds like an awesome idea to me thanks for the upload... a cool vechile that was ahead of it's time
I drive a 2003 Envoy XL. It's one cool truck. It doesn't look like a breadbox with wheels and the Vortec 4200 is one of the best sounding I6s I've ever heard.
It only had/has two major problems:
1. The engine blew (this is a known Vortec engine problem).
2. The air ride suspenion has a large hole in it (well the Envoy does have 150k on it).
3. Cylinder 5 is misfiring.
But other than that, the Envoy has 155k on it and is still truckin'
That waterfordjim guy is retarded. Yes they were only sold for a short time so the reason you don't see them alot is because people still own theirs and most of them are east coast states.
@LilRennagade ...... You, sir, are a DOUCHE. I live in DETROIT and we never ever see these on the road. The failed sliding roof design was destined for failure right from the get to. E A T M Y D I A R R H E A > > > > > :-)
I am not sure where waterfordjim is getting his information... as "the Mechanical problems plagued the flawed design" I have never had a single problem with this truck. and I am sure he has some basis for the " Also, the higher center of gravity gave this truck lousy tippy handling" comment... its not at all top heavy. The one downfall of this truck is the 16 mpg i average. clean trade in value on my truck is $12,463 not all that bad i would say ;)
Clever Idea, PISS POOR execution... this embarrasment was discontinued after only being offered for a short time.... Leave it to Obama Motors to screw this up. You never see these around because the idea DIDNT SELL or work well. Mechanical problems plagued the flawed design. Also, the higher center of gravity gave this truck lousy tippy handling.
@waterfordjim ...i beg to differ mine has 69,000 miles on it and its in mint condition, ive never had an issue with anything on my truck except the antenna being stolen lol
@sentrakidsr20 I am sure that it is worth only a small fraction of what you paid for it, too. That entire platform is being phased out- thank goodness! :-)
@waterfordjim You DO realize this car came out SIX YEARS before Obama was inaugurated and the GM bailout?! I see a couple of these cars around where I live: California. Have YOU ever driven this car?
my mom has a 2003 Envoy XL fully loaded. its asome wanted her to get this one but no third row seat so im happy...Im goin to try to keep hers nd tell her to get an acura mdx...
I just bought one, it is the most amazing concept for a vehicle. I do ecological field work and it is perfect for collect aquatic organisms (4WD, off-road capable, decent engine, 12v plug in the cargo area, and it is washable). Does anyone know the song for this commercial?
@ianfigures The XUV was created on the assumption that GM would be able to sell 90,000 units a year. In the end, they only sold 13,000 of them. It was a nightmare to manufacture and there were all sorts of problems like leaky roofs. It was a disaster and GM quickly canceled production.

@LilRennagade GM ended the platform for two reasons:
1. The Terrain/Acadia/Traverse platform is similar to the GMT 360, but more up to date.
2. GM couldn't afford to keep the GMT 360 platform going...
