  • i was born the day before this on august 30, 1988

  • that has to be the calmest I have ever seen a person get after winning that kind of money

  • Anyone catch Dick grabbing Teresa's ass right after the family gathers around?

  • I have this one dvr'd. Teresa was an outstanding clue giver-only a few were ever better than her. So many didn't use all poss options for clue giving-as in the first clue-when putting a "his" before clay....a lot of the starts would forget that and then figuring out the way to get a the review clue answered WITHOUT getting buzzed-very outstanding BUT the contestant was great too at listening before just blurting out tons of answers, and that has to help.

  • Soooooo good. BRING BACK PYRAMID!!! (AND NOT THAT LAMEASS NEW VERSION WITH DONNIE OSMAND OR WHOEVER--THE OLDSKOOL VERSION :) !!!! xoxo

  • I like how Dick Clark tells everyone to be quiet, yet he often screams "hurry, hurry" when they are in the winners' circle

  • M-M-M-MONSTER WIN

  • Teresa cheated a bit - a CRITIC's play was sort of outside the bounds of clue giving.- it directed the contestant to think of reviews. I guess such clever use of a single adjective is permitted under the most technical of definitions - it achieved its purpose. Strategy or cheating? The producers thought it the former.

  • Do you think she spent all the money on drugs? I do.

  • @bhstone1 hell ya

  • hehe so whos the guy on the left that goes over and feels up Teresa, her husband or boyfriend i assume he practically is humping her in front of everyone LOL

  • @eolsunder Not sure if that's the intent, but what do I know? It's Henry Polic II, the other celebrity in the game. Not the first time these two were paired on Pyramid either (e.g., the last $100,000 show). Wikipedia has a reference on him, too. He was a good or not-so-good player depending on who's commenting, but I think he had(?) to be good to be selected for tournament week. Also, if the IMDB website is right, the two of them were both on 125 $25,000 Pyramid shows, the most of any celebrity.

  • @eolsunder That's the other celebrity guest, "Webster's" Henry Polic II. Close personal friend of Teresa, also... :-)

  • If someone won $10,000 or 25 the next 2 shows this show might've continued on a little longer.

  • Dick Clark always got the audience quiet when they were on the last subject, Cullen or Davidson could careless.

  • I'm not sure Teresa's clue "a critic's play" should have been accepted for " Things that are Reviewed". "Critic" and critique" come from the same root; and "reviewed"and "critiqued" are pretty synonymous. But the judges have to make decisions instantly, rather than discuss or think about it, so I guess I would have let it pass as well. But, ya know what I mean?....

  • @DannyBkyn I know, but here's how I would "rationalize it". A critic can write a play just like anyone else, and you'd think others would definitely review something a critic wrote (especially if they had an ax to grind). Buy it? Not sure. It wouldn't be the first time they let something in the gray zone go, though.

  • @ErniePaulGeorge There's a story behind that. Teresa went to the winner's circle in the first round and gave an illegal clue, causing my opponent to lose the $100,000. So she was scared to death to use the word "critic" for fear it would be deemed a synonym. Lucky for me the judges ruled in my favor :-).

  • @ErniePaulGeorge A critic can be reviewed to a reviewer can be reviewed. So I think she was ok, but she probably wouldn't get away with by today, because critic and reviewer are the same

  • @Jopo1226 What if critic A wrote the play and critic B reviewed the play?

  • @ErniePaulGeorge That's fine, but critic and reviewer are the same so it could be argued that critic is the same as a reviewer hence reviewed. It's one of those gray areas, because I remember somone getting buzzed for saying "a speeding bullet" for the clue things that are fast. Speeding is in the norm of going faster, but when you actually look it up it solely means increasing rate of motion which does not mean that it is fast in any means. A turtle can be"speeding" by going 5mph vs 3mph so IDK

  • @Jopo1226 Definitely gray.

  • @ErniePaulGeorge probably why pyramid has been on hiatus for so long the rules are so open, yet closed on what you can say in the WC.

  • @Jopo1226 Critic could be a "type" of reviewer, whereas speeding and fast seem closer together in meaning. MAYBE. I'm also not sure that the WC strictness is a bad thing/the reason that the show isn't back-still hope. The tension of WC and seeing the explosion when there is a win seems more rewarding when tough, and there are more "wins" here than recent password or millionaire shows. FWIW, NYT bestselling book, a term paper, etc. Gray can draw buzz/ratings when used wisely. Thanks, anyway.

  • Bravo, Teresa! You gave this contestant such perfect clues en route to a $100,000 tournament win! GSN aired this episode last night. I enjoyed watching it so much, I rewound my digital cable box just to watch the excitement one more time! They don't make 'em like classic Dick Clark and "The Pyramid" anymore, for sure! Keep these episodes coming, GSN!

  • @ChihuahuaboyDH You are so right about Teresa giving me perfect clues! And you're also right about Dick Clark...they DON'T make 'em like him any more.

  • Now we have the original tournament qualification at 6P_Q3nDGKtE just substitute this in the "v=" above for Carrie Ethridge (I hope I spelled that right).

  • @ErniePaulGeorge Close...the correct spelling of my name is "Kerry Etheridge."

  • @PyramidKerry 1st: wow! I didn't expect a Pyramid winner to reply! Thanx and congrats! 2nd, I guessed using Wikipedia's name spelling in the "Pyramid (game show)" entry (& now wonder about Keefe/Kief? Ferrandini's wikipedia spelling I referred to). Third, I can only dream of having a chance on Pyramid given the failed revival attempts, so it's fun to see you (and the others) in the episodes, including you w/Howard Morton). Thanx 4 all the comments below. BTW, who was more excited, you or Teresa?

  • @ErniePaulGeorge Even though I won the money with Teresa, Howard was my very favorite celebrity out of the six that I played with. What a sweet gentleman! And thanks to him, I qualified for the tournament.

Teresa WAS pretty excited...she kept jumping up and down saying, "You're so rich, you're so rich!" I think she was most excited that she didn't blow it for me like she did for my opponent ;-).

  • @PyramidKerry Thanks. I was guessing she was yelling, "You won! You won!" but I can't read lips. Yes, Howard seemed to have a gentle nature. I put a comment on your channel on the 4 other videos I know of that had you featured. 3 are all related to that day that you blazed with Howard Morton through the Winner's Circle (the individual video addresses or trying my tournament playlist on my channel). One more curiosity, if it's not asking too much: who were the other 3 celebrities you paired with?

  • @ErniePaulGeorge Well, she may have been saying that, too. The other celebs were Mary Cadoret (with Howard Morton), Meg Bennett and John Moshita, Jr. Mary co-starred with Howard on The Munsters Today; Meg was an actress/writer on Bold & Beautiful and Young & Restless, and John (as you probably know) is that fast-talking actor that did commercials for products like Federal Express and Minute Rice.

  • @PyramidKerry Thanks again. Sorry, the channel comment got wiped out, maybe bcuz they were links. For your other videos, substitute the v= codes above in the web address. The v codes: v=6P_Q3nDGKtE for the Howard Morton 1st half, v=3Fu844-9ynU for the two winner's circles, v=v28n58SQUKw for the 2nd half, and v=UWuZ7ffCRpI for almost same clip of the $100k. Also, can search for "Peter/Carrie 1/2" or 2/2, "From Great to disasterous/dismal" (not my words), or look on my playlist. Hope this helps.

  • @PyramidKerry So so so late in replying to your comments but I just want to say how it's always awesome hearing from people who appeared on this show. Glad you had such a great time there, and it's always fun hearing how this type of experience changes lives for the better. :)

  • @excuseyou77 1. Agreed. 2. Thank you excuseyou77 for putting up so many of these videos.

  • @PyramidKerry Oh, my GOSH! Kerry Etheridge? Is that you? Congratulations!! You really cleaned house on Pyramid! If it's okay to ask, what was it like winning $100,000, and what did you do with it all? I know thousands of thoughts were running through your mind when it happened... ^_^

  • @gameshowluvr86 Thanks for congrats :-). Needless to say, winning was life-changing. The biggest thing I dd with it was to buy my first home.

  • @PyramidKerry Wow, that's wonderful!! :-D What happened after they went to commercial? Did they brief you on taxes?

  • @gameshowluvr86 Actually, they don't take out taxes...you have to pay them yourself. I honestly don't remember what happened during the last commercial break (when you move from the winner's circle back to the game set), but after the taping there was a lot of paperwork to sign.

  • has anyone heard??? CBS ordered a pilot for Pyramid!!! we might have found the replacement of Guiding Light!!!

  • @barber215 Strike That. the replacement would be for As The World Turns

  • I wouldn't mind a Teresa Ganzel wardrobe malfunction, but sorry. As she puts her hands in the straps around 0:40, you can see a black flap of fabric, a belt, or whatever between her right arm and the camera. That is what flew up into view. She also does nothing to fix the alleged malfunction, either.

There must have been a tech problem switching to the $100K graphic. Because the camera that shoots $300 box also gets the contestant, we have an unusual angle as it could not pan while being live.

  • What happened during the win, was there some sort of edit?

  • I think Teresa's top came loose when the last catagory was guessed correctly. That's probably why the $300 box stayed on the screen for awhile after the win. Sometimes accidents happen. :)

  • Ok thanks jennings861.

  • Anyone notice how it seems like there was a bit of time edited out of this win? I'm talking about the time just after the $300 box turned and when the lady's family and friends came up. Is it just me or am I paranoid???

  • Comment removed

  • The reason the win was edited so weirdly was because when Teresa jumped up, her top slipped and well... hehehehe... That's also why the $300 box was kept on screen. :-)

  • Though not "annouced" there it was implied that this was the last taping. Dick was not telling the players about getting to the top in the shortest time, Henry made some comments during the final show (he looked snazzy). And the high scorer (came back during the 1st episode of the Davidson version), Dick not say have a good weekend, see you on Monday. He just said, thanks for coming on.

  • What I liked about this tournament was that everybody had an equal shot at the $100,000. Carrie was on the previous day and both her and Al tied wtih $500-$550. She came back on a coin flip. Hope she kept the coin. Also, she won because Teresa made an error on the previous round. Somebody was on Carries side!!!

I wondered what would have happened if the tournament had to go on for more than a week.

GREAT WAY TO END THE SERIES!!!!

  • They gave Carrie the $100,000 because Teresa made an error in the first round? She wasn't even teamed with Carrie the first time around...

  • In the 1st round, Carrie's opponent won $900 (GREAT SCORE). The subject that Teresa got zapped on in the first one was "Spanish Speaking Countries." Teresa started to say "Spa.." for Spain. That was the error Teresa made.

  • And this was it. The very last Winner's Circle win in all of the 1982-1988 era of "Pyramid".

  • Last $100,000 win... ;-)

  • It was both.

I don't know why some people think the final $25K Pyramid week was taped after this. It was taped before this. They had no way of knowing that $25K Pyramid would end, and when it did, it was while they were in the process of taping this week. And when word got out, they had to go back and re-edit the 7/1/88 episode of $25K Pyramid to include a farewell message from Dick Clark.

  • Really? I didn't know that! Neat...

  • By the way, vnisanian, Teresa didn't seem as... overtly cheery as she usually was when she did the show... Do you think maybe it was because the show was going off the air? Or maybe because Nathan Cook died shortly before this was videotaped?

  • Actually, I noticed all throughout this week of shows that Teresa was losing it for some reason.

  • (Sorry for the double post)

Even Henry seemed to be a bit too tensed up.

  • She was in the Winners Circle a total of 3 times (2 times on the day the $100k was given), and once the day later.

  • It's probably because she knew that the $100,000 Pyramid was ending the week the tournament ended. She was probably a big Pyramid fan and was sad that it was going off the air. At least she ended up having the final win. I sometimes wonder if she was given enough credit for her game playing. She was a terrific player - a contestant usually got a great score with her in the WC.

  • Maybe a combination. Both Henry and Teresa were regulars on Pyramid. Teresa was paired with Nathan. They made a good team. Teresa still looks good today. I hope when and if they bring back Pyramid that she can appear as a celebrity.

  • Thank You so much for uploading this!!!! But is gsn going to air the other episodes from 1985??

  • Unfortunately, no. They'll be showing season 3 again.

  • No season 1 and 2 episodes? I guess there are not enough episodes around today to be able to show them. What a pity.

  • The season 1 and 2 episodes do exist.

  • Yes, all of this show is still in existence. GSN just leased the rights to only one season.

  • I don't know why GSN doesn't wanna lease for the first season (even though they've shown it before). What are they afraid of?

Then again, what do you expect from a network that has very little integrity for the genre of game shows, and is actually serious about an upcoming Reality show, completely ignoring the fact that they tried this before, and it failed miserably?

Now you know why they invented the term "Reality Bites".

  • Well put, vnisanian. :-)

  • It would have really been nice, especially since season 1 hasn't been shown regularly in years and to be quite honest there isn't much else to look forward to on the network right now.

  • Plus, cbrrenn1, the same situation will apply for the $25,000 Pyramid the day after New Year's Day in which it will start another cycle at the beginning of September '85. However, one good thing is that GSN will air the skipped Christmas '85 week on Christmas week.

  • What I REALLY wish GSN would do is air the 1983-1984 season of The New $25,000 Pyramid... They still haven't gotten around to it. :-(

  • I don't know if GSN ever will, considering the direction they're going.

I haven't watched GSN since they showed the Christmas 1985 episodes of $25K Pyramid. I find myself tuning into Turner Classic Movies more frequently these days. At least that channel cares about their viewers.

My only hope is for Sony (the owners of this show) to start up an online service, similar to what Proctor & Gamble did for a while with their daytime soaps. It may be costly, but it would be worth the effort.

  • The only thing I find myself watching nowadays on GSN are Match Game and then just FF through the 3-6 pm block for answers to the Oodles questions.
