well the bankers are going to get their bonuses so all is well with the world... meanwhile the local council I work for has to cut 36 Million, and the private firm my husband works for may be taken over with 170 redundancies... what fun
The only problem I have with this is that it highlights some services and leaves out others. The number of services provided by various public services are a lot larger than some folk realise, including those areas that support the services that you do highlight.
What makes me really angry, however, is that all public services are being cut, wages frozen and so forth, yet HMG is still splashing the cash around on useless projects and other junk. How about cutting back HMG for once?
@UK Libertarian - go and have a look at the map on their website and enter your postcode. I've just done it and I can't believe what is being cut in my area. Really shows what work is done by the public sector in my neighbourhood and should be a wake-up call to anyone who is stupid enough to believe all public sector workers are pen-pushing managers.
I'd rather keep what we have - and improve on it - than be selfish enough to care about a few extra quid in my pocket. Great work Unison!
It's weird. I've had my job cut recently. The private sectors around here have cut loads of jobs too. A lot of the public sector jobs were created when all the industry went belly up. Now they're wanting to cut those jobs too. Is everyone just expected to go and sign on? But they're wanting to do cut those levels too, what are we supposed to do?
Great film - people working in public services do real jobs that matter to us. I for one don't want to see cutbacks to services while the banks have yet to pay back a penny of their bailout.
@TheUKLibertarian the goverment hasnt been creating any jobs dumb ass. cutting public sector jobs is always bad for the economy. why should we prop up the banks to do yet more reckless gambling with our money the system is a joke.
It's a shame we can't see this on TV - voters need to realise what the consequences of cuts will be, of course the public sector isn't perfect and it's easy to pick on mistakes or examples of waste but you're kidding yourself if you think you can cut out billions of pounds, or thousands of jobs, without having a devastating effect on the quality of life in this country.
@alessandrebieri Don't be silly whatever happens there will be MORE managers and MORE forms. How can you not understand that when critically ill patients come to your hospital we want to know its well managed, it doesn't matter a monkeys if there are any doctors or nurses or if we all catch some contagious disease from a filthy ward. Next you'll be saying the government should have spent billions on the NHS and not on rotten corrupt banks - silly you!
Absolutely Jill, and it's these hostile audits being proposed by the big end of town that will call every one of these necessary services a waste of money & prime candidates for cutbacks.

Great film - it's time we stood up for public services. Politicians can make easy points about cutting "waste" but it is people who will suffer.

Are you kidding? It's the politicians who create all these "jobs"

As an NHS nurse I can't wait for cuts, it'll help to cut down the number of managers with stupid job titles that create us un-necessary work.
I joined nursing to work with patients, not fill in time assessment forms and come up with ways to reduce carbon emissions.

Great video - that's right it isn't just job holders who are affected - the real target is the community - we all suffer when services are cut.
