@zarigunn Mine starts with ZD putting it at April of '86. There are a couple different kinds of "Red Rics". You might have a "redneck" it has the red fret board and no black binding. And I do believe that the dates on this color ranges about 5 years from the mid '80s to early '90s

They discontinued them becuase at the time of production they could not pay people to buy them from some reason.

They really dont sound the same as other 4003 rick 's.

between sounds and mistakes this bass makes a really nicegrowling sound.

It pulls my mistake straith =p.

Definitly my main bass, love it.
