I heard a spent bullet hit, then heard a high-velocity artillery round pass overhead going in one direction or the other, but I didn't hear any incoming mortars. That's because you can't hear incoming mortars.... until they hit. God knows I tried, even though it's been a very long time ago.

I love the fact that one side of their pit is comprised of ammo, just begging for a secondary explosion. Just as well sofew insurgents know how to aim, or they would be fucked.

@rtm1137 if a mortar comes close enough to set off the motors there dead any way because the mortars are on safe in the pit so the only way they will go off is if there blown up, they be fine if hit by shrapnel

@nestadler Well Battlefield missions are the same short or shorter really.I think there are games like Arma 2 and upcoming Red Orchestra Heroes of Stalingrad will include missions too.

Lol, you have no idea how close the shell landed to them. Its not the explosion that causes the damage, its the shrapnel that is propelled from the blast which in some cases may travel upto a mile.
those sound like the 107mm rockets. god damn that brings back some memories. the whistling of the rocket sounds so electronic. very distinct sound that made me shit my pants
i think it will be safer if they had something to cover the mortor round with cuz if one lands on them and theymanage to get saved the round in the ground will blwo the fuck up and wont be pretty
