@Extreme1567 Typically the rule is for every inch of turtle you should have 10 gallons of water. So a 2 inches turtle = 20 gallons. So yeah Im sure your turtle would love a 20 gallon tank.

I got one YBS and I'm getting soon another YBS. I fear that my older turtle might try to bully my second turtle once I will combine them after the little quarantine. Your turtles seem to like each other, but has it always been like that? Has Huey ever tried to bully Jasper?

Another thing, how can you make your turtles to eat veggies and dry foods? My male turtle is very stubborn. He only likes to eat fish, shrimp and flys. Nothing else.

@insidethestorm81 They are often competitive while eating but just keep an eye on them when you add them together. More than one turtle will probably mean you need to upgrade your tank size. Turtles are either little monsters that eat anything (even nonfood stuff!) or picky eaters. If you have a picky eater it is most likely that if they are hungry enough they will eat what is offered so if you only offer pellets or veggies they will learn to eat it.

@bebster07 I do not know a lot about snake necked turtles but only add it if they have similar requirements such as water height, temp, UV light etc. Also watch them closely for any aggressive behavior once added and remove the new tutle if they do not good along.

Just make sure they are atleast 6 inches away from the UVB lighting and you should be fine so you can add as much water as you want. YBS's are good swimmers. Check out my newer turtle videos. Huey and Jasper are in a 40 gallon now.

You really cant sex a turtle for sure until it is about 3-6 years old and even then it is tough.

I periodically brush the algae and other gunk off of my turtles shells with an old toothbrush and apply turtle shell moisturizer. Also have a good UVB lamp keeps their shell pretty.

It is illegal here too to buy/sell any turtle of any size. So you can go out and find them in the creeks and stuff. You can get them that small at the beach (in other states like SC)

actually turtles that are 4 inches or more are not illegal, you can get them in pet stores. To get them that tiny you would have to buy them from the street like I did. They looked like they were suffering all cramped up in a little plastic container out in the cold so I bought them and saved their lives. LOL

Huey did but Jasper didnt. Jasper didnt eat for a while. He would only eat shrimp every once in a while. Pellets, dried shrimp, mealworms, crickets. etc.

Huey is used to me but Jasper still hates me lol. Once you feed them by hand a few times they warm up to you though. I would say around 6 months or so.

Depends on the turtles. Red Ear and Yellow belly sliders have the same setup and care requirements. I kept an eye on them to make sure they would get along.

if i were you i would invest in a 75 gallon tank that would be big enough for them for life just trying to help i have a turtle in a 75 gallon tank and i know that i could easily fit in 2 more turtles so ya try to get a tank more than 40 gallons if u plan on keeping them for life because they get pretty big upto 9 inches

red ear turtles are illegal if they are that small because when oyu buy a turtle it has to be 4 inches at least. I know this because I got two from China Town in California and they where $5 plus food $1. I did a little research and I wanted to know if they where legal but they are not legal if they are that small.

very nice set up just make sure that its 10gallon of water per inch so i would say about 4-7 gallons and since you have gravel be sure to get a under gravel filter it does wonders

Yeah! A 40 gallon would be awesome for them. RES and YBS have pretty much they same needs the only thing I noticed different between my turtles is that RES eat alot more fruits and veggies than the YBS does. YBS would rather have protein. Make sure you have a good filter for your turtle tank...they tend to get messy lol. Good Luck! Make some videos! :)

They can but as long as you clean your tank often and keep a turtle rock (those ones at the store the white turtle shaped block) in there. They kill bacteria and such in your tank. Then you should be fine. Some people just have the bottom empty but it doesnt give the turtles traction and I think it looks plain lol.

Im not sure. I live in NC and it is illegal to buy or sell turtles. But maybe you can finder a reptile breeder in your area. My RES was given to me and my YBS was found in a creek.
