How did you record the compiz 3d effects?

When I try capturing it, the screen cap glitches out and I end up with flashing bits instead of a clear video. I have tried just about everything except connecting my hdmi out to a dvr.

For any Linux-curious viewers, Ubuntu gets better and more user-friendly all the time. I mostly use Windows 7 (for certain must-have programs), but Linux quickly feels like home.

Plus, even in VirtualBox (running as a virtual machine inside Windows), it has a rock-solid feel with none of that weird rickety feeling (and no Spinning Beach Ball of Death like in my fave OS!)

To compare to windows and mac as she does, windows or Mac would have this either already set up, or two clicks to make it start happening. ok so i followed the instructions in the video, but for some reason i cannot get the sperical shape in the centre, all i get is the drum and, the images i selected for the areas specified do not apear when i go into the 3d effect. am i missing something? I am new to ubuntu. if ya need more info let me know, although i have followed the steps a few times now and still not working. On a lighter note, great vids, only ones i can find, others only show crappy music with a graphic view of the cube

hey man, I agree totally though. Its a basic concept that most everyone should get. Think of it like a dvd player, if you need to go do something you pause it, right? well when studying video its the same thing. I really don't understand all the flashiness of Ubuntu. Multiple desktops? Cube, sphere, etc? I am currently running W7, and as long as I have my snap windows I'm happy. I hear W8 is right around the corner... already... which has convinced me to look into open source options. There seems to be a lot of options in your CompizConfig Settings Manager that don't appear in mine, so I can't run through the full process. Are there extra plugins needed to get all of what you're using? Also, you blow through it kinda quick and some of your narration is pretty vague. Make sure to check all of -what- boxes? Every single one in the window? Or every one under a certain section? I'm sure this would all be elementary for a more advanced user, but I'm almost totally new to Linux.
