I had heaps of problems to start with - but I watched what you were doing.
I now connect the 'balance' lead, but not the 'Deans' plug. Fire up the charger, walk the menus and cycle through 'LiPo' until I get the 'BAL' option. Then I finally connect the Deans plug, and away she goes - good as gold.
Q:)
PS - mine is the B6AC. Very happy now :) Thanks for your vids - they have been a great help.
Yes.... but you must NOT plug in the Deans plug until after you have plugged in the Balance charge lead, and powered up the charger via the AC current lead. The manual does not tell you this.
I found that out the hard way - if I had no battery connected when I powered-up the Charger, it went mental. If I then connected the Battery, it tried to charge is as a NiCd, and wouldn't let me change anything.
But - it seems you must FIRST plug in the Balance lead. Then connect the Charger to the mains A/C. Then you can cycle the menu's to find the LiPo battery page. Once there, you can choose the BAL (balance) option, select the number of cells, Volts and Amps (I did my 1500mAh at 1.0A, not 1.5A (just to be on the safe side)), and it all finally worked.
The manual should be more specific in the order you must do things in to get the charger to work properly.
Why should my AC version be different to any other?
What I'm getting at is there is a specific order you have to do things in, in order to get the get the charger to work properly.
This is nto explained very well in an Manual. Surely there will come a day when those that make these things will consult with a proper English (or any other language) speaking person so that we end up with a Manual that makes sense to all of us.
One of the most common gripes I read about is that anything purchased from China is severly lacking in two departments - clear, concise instructions... and this thing called 'Warranty' - if the Unit is defective, it should be replaced free of charge - just like it is in the rest of the Western World.
It's a cheap unit - yes - but that doesn't mean it's crap.
A little bit of Business accumen and some basic business ethices would go a long way to produce happy customers.
I personally think that the iMax B6 range represent a truly value-for-money competitive package (apart from some bad-choice resistor values I've read about)... and of course the negative attitidue towards customer complaints.
If you guys lifted you games just a tiny amount regarding customer enquiries (English speaking), and genuine customer support, you'd be killing this Niche Market no end.
You wanna 'Rep'? - I'll be one. BUT, I have to know how my product performs.
Oh...and dude... before you kick into me regarding 'RTB' (return to base) warranty - why should anyone have to pay postage to return something back to the manufacturer if it was defective in the first place?
If I buy something, I expect two things: 1) I get what was advertised; and 2) It performs as stated.
Anything less is 'false advertising' - usually heavily policed in the 'Western World'.
Having said all that, I think my Charger works ok - only I didn't undersand what I had to do.
No - nothing is wrong with the Charger. The instruction manual is not specific enough.
If I said to you "You go North to upside, not to be putting foot near shoe, and taking lighting torch to other side", would you have ANY idea what I was talking about?
No.. I doubt it.
~*Think*~
That's all I'm asking.
You guys are clever - very clever. But PLEASE put some effort into your Manuals so that we can all read them and understand what we must do.
Like I said before - if it hadn't been for your Vids, I wouldn't have got my Charger working - period.
Top job!
While on that subject though, do you feel that the iMax boys could do a better job of explainng to a n00b like me what we have to do to in order to get this Charger working correclty for us?
To quote myself - "The learning curve is steep - the Ocean we crash into is shallow".
do u mean in imax b6's manual page 13 ? this is the pin assignment diagram for e-station's balancer PB-6, please do not follows, all you need is connect the battery's balance port (imax use align type of balance port) directly to the charger's correspond port i.e. 3s connect to 4pin port, 4s connect to 5pin port etc.
this has given me good understanding and hope in my future with my new B6. However I'd like to know about it's use with A123 M1 cells, I see in the 'manual' the eight pin connection for three cells, but I do not know why ! is this normal ?.
When i discharge a nimh what does the voltage do?

Dude - what are you trying to say here? That the iMax B6 *does* or *doesn't* discharge properly?
I can't make out the readings on your equipment at all - a few words would have been nice...
Q:)
Quokka57 2 years ago
it is discharged properly and balanced, however video quantity was blur !
quantifly 2 years ago
Ok... kewl :)
Wasn't sure, coz the readings were pretty blurry.
So, it works ok - yeh?
I'm having trouble getting mine to cycle through the menus so that I can get to LiPo Balance (BAL) charge.
If I have the battery connected when I turn it on, it says NiMh. If I don't have a battery connected, it goes mental.
I must be doing something wrong.

yes unlike imax b5, imax b6 need to connect deans as well as balance plug if you want balance while charging !

Perhaps a 'revised manual' sometime?

i don't have ac version, but i suspect your unit has problem as ac version is just put ac power on top of original imax b6 ...

first of all i need to clarify i am not from imax company, i did these test on my own.
imax b6 is 100% copy from e-station or you should download the manual from e-station to compare, let see if it was caused by your unit !
quantifly 2 years ago
Yah... thanks for that. I'll look that one up.
No offense meant in any quarter - ok?
