  • Wow! How many tractors do you have?

  • Yes the weight bracket is my own design. Longer than stock. Protects the tractor better when weights aren't on it and also makes gives the weight more leverage.

  • where did you get the weight bracket? or is it coustom made?

  • going to fast

  • @catonmtn - Interesting you are willing to make a comment like that without knowing what the conditions were, what we were trying to accomplish, what we were going to plant and so on.

You do know not all tillers have the same shaft speed don't you? You should see us hustle with a fast one. :-) There is no reason to go slow and beat the soil into dust.

  • did you fix it up to slide the rear wheels out?

  • Where can I find a tiller like that? What brand and model number?

  • now how does this work do you need a pto on it cause garden tractors ik dont have them can you tell me lookin at one for a garden to small for a big traactor to pull so were putting it on a garden tractor about your size tiller

  • No PTO - this one is a hydraulic tiller. Has a hydraulic pump diving from the same pully the mower does when it's mounted. Even uses the same clutch and on/off switch. The belt runs a hydraulic pump which is plumbed to the hydraulic motor on the tiller shaft. It's a very neat rig as there are no knuckle joints, spinning shafts and so on to worry about. Really works good in rough ground - no clutches slipping or burning up etc.

  • Still think it would look better with the grill but take the side covers off. Will get rid of the heat just as well. Either way I like your rig. That Honda seems to have plenty of pull.

  • I noticed that you said you take off the grill due to air flow restriction. There is plenty of air moving through the grill. I do believe the folks at John Deere took that into consideration. Besides they look better with the grill, if your worried about heat take off the side panels. Anyway, that thing sure does sing pretty when tilling.

  • Engine isn't stock - it puts out about 50% more power than normal. Some have had trouble with them overheating. I'm pretty sure they haven't made sure the underhood heat isn't recirculating back into the engine.

    I have had no trouble.

  • yes nice research! it is a 330.

  • well i have a diesel version of this machine. alos too there able to grease these frount ends. 140 is too lite for this applaction. also there not electric its hydrulic.

  • I'm guessing you got a 332?

  • Our 112 Deere had a Tiller that could be hooked up too. I am going to restore that mower here soon cuz i hear its rare cuz it has electric lift on it. Keep her going don't get the new crap. I bet it could not do this with out breaking down or having probs.

  • i dont see how you can work a tiller on the back of a lawnmower like that. how do you hook it up to the lawnmower?

  • Many people think these tractors are for cutting grass only. Some of the lighter models are. The 140 and 318 are heavy duty garden tractors. JD has two or three different hitches for those tillers. This one is a 3 point hitch Category 0 hitch. This particular tractor has been re-engined and now has more engine power than the first tractor I started farming with a long time ago.

  • so does it have a pto like on a farm tractor or do u have to hook it up like u would the mowing deck?

  • why are you calling that a lawn mower?

  • First thing I do when I get one of these old rips is take the grill (air flow restriction) off.

Both the 318 and 140 have been re-engined with new engines with approximate 50% more HP than they came with.

I don't want engine cooling to become an issue.

  • wheres the grill?

    lol

  • that hardly looks like "new" ground to me

  • It was a back yard that had been mowed for 40 years about an hour before.

  • Needs a little WD40 sprayed on the center pinion, (on the front axle.) That will eliminate that high pitch squeaking.

  • Yep if you own a 318 that is a place you'll lube. Deere missed it there. Should have been a drilled pin with a zerk in it.

  • I hear ya. I have to spray mine twice a year.

    Nice rig.

  • i really dont get it?

  • slower would be better

  • If it ain't green, don't bother!

  • Nice job! I'm looking for a tiller for my 318.
