Dude, have you ever tried playing any Smiths tunes? There is another Rick player who posts renditions of their stuff on YT, but I like your sound better than his.
I'd love to hear your approach to Johnny Marr. Nice work.
Thanks! I've never played much of their material, although Johnny Marr is an impressive guitarist for sure. I may have to do a Smiths cover or two down the road. Their songs are perfect for the Rickenbacker guitar sound.
Actually...I hooked my thumb over to play the note. You just can't hear it that well on this video. Nothing was missed when I listened to the song because I heard what you are referrng to. Remember, more than one guitar was playing on the recording...and often I fuse the parts/chords of two or more guitars into one part. Thanks for watching. -BC
D and Bm are relative minors, they sound very alike, so sometimes you can just play one or the other and get away with it. its still "musically correct" i guess you can say? lol.
Buddy, I think for all the Gene Clark fans that hang out here, you should do "One in a hundred". And how about the Who's "A legal matter"? Townshend's Ric at its best.
I am a Gene Clark fan. You did a great job here B.Clontz. I wish you would re-post this in a way we could here Gene's vocals with your guitar work. That would be special; I would need to consume that for about a month straight.
Excellent! I am a huge Gene Clark fan too! I met him in 65 right before this came out! He was a neat guy! I was hanging with his sister for a month and she said, My brother plays in the Byrds...WOW!!!...That was awesome! I have been a Byrds fan ever since!...GREAT job, Buddy! You are great. I am going to play it again!...and I still...PLAY...it...LOUD!
Thanks for watching! That's a great story! I met David Crosby one time in the late 80's after a concert in Charlotte,NC and spoke to him a few min. He autographed a $20 bill for me which one of my children found and spent many years later!...LOL -BC
i would have been shattered and heart broken my friend, god bless you for not doing anything this too extreme! great cover, first hear this song on pettys album, and loved it ever since! Keep rockin

Another great one Buddy, I do this song on my 360/12v64. Are you using compression or Jangle Box on this one?
Best Regards,
Gary from Rickenbacker RF

Thanks Gary! I used a compressor setting from my Yamaha DG Stomp preamp. I don't own a Jangle Box but eventually I will probably buy one.

You're missing a Bm at 0:42! I understand that you play by ear but there's nothing wrong with being a perfectionist!
This is a very good cover, nice job! The guitar is groovy, i wish i had one!!!
