Is the "Dell UltraSharp U2412M" also a good choice? Not looking for an extreme good monitor, just a good ips monitor with nice colours for a fairly low price.
and, sure, some older screens may have 2 ms (like my SAMSUNG) but they also have a bunch of other technology that has become quite a bit aged with the years.
@Chainzaw1447 Get a U2312HM. Just purchased one and it is the fastest IPS monitor on the market. In real world tests the 2412 etc. get around 10ms etc. whereas the 2312 got 0.6ms. I have no idea why it is so much faster, but it is. I've found it actually quicker than my ASUS VH242H which is a "5ms" TN panel. So don't be confused with the 8ms spec.
@ibanez0830 Anything under 6ms you won't notice the difference.....and I don't think IPS panels will ever be able to get under 5ms.....so it may be a long wait. But the benefits of a IPS panel outweigh the difference in response times by a mile, especially when it isn't even noticeable.
Thanks :) cuz im using an old tn panel and it blurs like SH**! and i get iritated in my eyes so im needed to find out i think im gonna buy it, But will calibration do much difference in picture quality and if it do how big in scale would you put it out of 10?
@gusilago I have only watch one movie on my monitor, the one at the end of this video. However i have not experience any blurring while playing games.
@Eslu93 Very nice....I noticed that it has a slower response time (8ms) as apposed to 6ms on the U2410. If you are a gamer it may notice a slight performance loss with the 8ms response time. As a rule of thumb a gamer should look for response times of 6ms or faster.
when you watching movies it will be the black bars on topp and under the film. Can it be changed? if you right click mouse button and chose resolution to 1920:1080, will it make it fit to the screen?
I have a favor to ask of you. Can you check the luminance with 0% brightness ? With your Spider3 Pro sensor of course :-)
I'm considering to buy it, but I'm afraid it is too bright at 0% brightness. Most of time i'm working with not so strong illumination in my working room.
@blakuntang There is no difference between HDMI and DVI, except the audio...didn't need that. Also I use the HDMI connection with my camera when filming videos.
@SuperNiko911 I wouldn't recommend the 2410 if you're going to reduce the resolution..especially down to 800X600....thats insane...you are not going to notice any difference by going from 60Hz to 75Hz...just my opinion
@WestCoastMods yes you are right. Of course I will be playing such games on the high resolution like of COD black Ops or battlefield 2 ( high detal ) but I am also playing in counter strike and in this game I must play in resolution 800x600. Thats why i'm asking whether in this resolution it is possible to place refreshing the monitor on level 75 hz
Hi there! I'm a noob on this subject (just so you know). I'm interested in this monitor but I'm concerned about it having 16:10 aspect ratio. For exampel: how will that affect the image shown if i play 1920x1080p content (full HD) ...for example a blu-ray movie, a PS3 game or something else that would usually be shown in 16:9? How will the screen show it? Would there be black lines at top and bottom?
@JoakimBD No there will not be any black bars..you won't even be able to see a difference. I suggest you go check DarkMX100 channel as he has 3 of these in eyefinity and he will be able to tell you if there are any issues. I don't watch blurays, nor do I play to many games on mine.

@rista0rile0ricky rofl u paid 400-600 dollars for a monitor and did not know the features of it. This monitor does not come with speakers my god are you stupid.
@weealisdair Yeah, bro search some of the earliest comments as several ppl was asking the same thing and I provided where I got it from. I no longer remember and really don't have the time to try to search for it...hope you understand.
@SvrRud3Bwoy Awesome bro, what are the changes in A02?
BTW how are you doing, and how is your PC running? I stop following Zoop's thread and the last I remember there was some problems with the CPU.....if I am not mistaken.
i have no idea whats different in AO2 i didn't even order the monitor i got it free from dell.everything is good with my pc,i make videos on my other account irud3bwoy
some how the mobo killed the cpu when it died.it was not zoop faults nor mines.the cpu was fine on my last system, when i used the system when i got it and did some changes in bios both died, switched to rampage 3 and no issues whats so ever and intel replaced cpu for me.never buying evga again for mobos
@SvrRud3Bwoy Glad to see that everything worked out in the end. If I may ask how did you get Dell to send you a new 24" U2410. My understanding is that they very seldom send out test units...that why you never see anyone doing reviews on them. Please tell me your secret.
Hi, i realy like this monitor...im saving a lot to buy it (here in argentina cost more than U$S 850). Im a graphic designer, buy im also edit a lot of multimedia too...this monitor had a good video resolution (like full HD?) I couldnt find it on the specification. What do you think about it? I really like to see movies in excelent quality too. Any suggestion? or maybe another monitor to recomendation? thanks and sorry for my bad english...
@darkwoman13 They res on this monitor is 1920X1200. Yeah it is a all around good monitor, but if you are going to watch a lot of movies then you may want something with a glossy screen or maybe a LED backlight monitor. I have no suggestions though, as I don't watch to many movies on my monitor.
@lilbro209 Do you honestly think you can tell the difference between 6ms and 2ms resonse time...you must have a very discerning eye. And even if you can tell the difference, which I can't...it's well worth the trade off when compare to the low quality of the TN panels...2ms or not.
@lilbro209 I used to own at UT with my 8 ms TN panel and that was a very hectic game. tbh im only now thinking of replacing it for this monitor cus of its size, 1:1 mapping, and the fact that its ips instead of a TN cus tbh theres no fast paced first person shooters coming out latly and i can see myself on the playstation 3 and diablo 3 in the immediate future.
@WestCoastMods hi, is this the best in its 24" class? because im lookin to buy monitor and people talk alot about this monitor which they said is the best!
@kohjul Well I been happy with it.....but before you buy maybe check out the HP LP2475w as it is a little cheaper.....I really haven't research it to see if it compares to the U2410...but I though I would mention it.
they say black levels are key to picture quality but apparently this monitor cant achieve very deep blacks. will DvDs or Avi files suffer from poor contrast?
@WestCoastMods I was ready to buy one and then i read this review which says the blacks tend towards dark greys ... I'll probably be watching a lot of films and tv on my monitor so now i'm confused as to which direction to go in
@MEareCAT LOL...that shows how much you know....first off I am not even a true gamer...I build custom Rigs for gamers.....and the color calibrator is not so games look accurate, but so the monitor represents true color...it's important when you want to edit a photo, then print it out...if you monitor and printer are no calibrated to the same icc profile then what you see on your monitor will be different then what you see on paper....
Maybe not important to you, but for me it is...not gaming
@stanek007 For me it does just fine for gaming, but for a opinion from a hardcore gamer go check out DarkMX1000 channel and his eyefinity setup and see what he has to say
@ProDaviid Is this hooked up to a computer...if so use the on-board sound or a dedicated sound card. But if if this is for something else, then just use what every is producing the sound to your speakers, whether that be component or something else...ie HDMI, optical, composite, ect. Just use the video component cables to drive the display.
@lizardmannnn Sorry for the late reply....but thats all personal choice...the U2410 is very decent for gaming and offers so many other options...whereas the 2370 offers nothing and is a TN panel....if all you do is gaming...then it is a toss up..but if you do anything else, then it's a no brainer.
@EsotericDesi01 All I can say is that I am very satisfied...was a little apprehensive knowing it was a Dell....but I was quite surprised. I have 2 now and am debating to by a third...or 2 more 30" to go with my 1 30" that I already own...tough decision....
@Kamenos4ever don't consider this monitor... it is an IPS monitor and will be horrible for gaming. 24 inches is not too big if you are currently using a 22 inch and don't find it too big. it's only a 2 inch difference.
you should look for a new LED monitor, like the samsung ones, which will be cheaper and brighter than this one.
@roketmode It is in the difference in panel technology...all 2ms monitors are TN panels which IMO are a waste of money...And the U2410 is a IPS panel, which is one of the best technologies, with great color reproduction, great viewing angle, sharp crisp text. Also IPS monitors are normally build with a much higher level of quality, and have many more connectivity ports, has height, swivel, rotate and tilt adjustments, things you won't get with a TN panel. can you see the dif between 2ms & 6ms?
@BetaOverclocking Their lower end monitors are anything but kickass. I've had two U2311Hs sent to me (original order and exchange). Both have horrible backlight bleed/leakage.
Nice monitor, personally I pick lower response time over size. Philips 220C is good, 22'' 1680x1050, 2ms response and 75Hz, so yea. But dell do make some kickass monitors.
@BetaOverclocking yeah, it really all depends on what someone will be using it for. As a occasional gamer, response time isn't as important as color accuracy, viewing angle, monitor stand adjustments and quality of overall build. In a TN panel you will get very few of these if any at all. But if someone is just mostly using the monitor to play games a TN panel with a 2ms response time would be desirable. But in my sincere opinion I can not see the difference between 2ms and 6ms, have owned both
@GryphonDork Thanks for clearing that up for me...yes the monitor has 16ms lag time which is different from the response time which is 6ms... response time is how long it takes a pixel to go from black to white and back. Lag time is known as input lag. Input lag contributes to the overall latency in the interface chain of the user's inputs.
controller --> PC --> graphics card --> monitor --> your eyes.
And at 16ms, that is not that bad..for more info just Google it.
@WestCoastMods Yeah bro, know I know what you were asking sorry.....yes the monitor has 16ms lag time which is different from the response time which is 6ms... response time is how long it takes a pixel to go from black to white and back. Lag time is known as input lag. Input lag contributes to the overall latency in the interface chain of the user's inputs.
controller --> PC --> graphics card --> monitor --> your eyes.
And at 16ms, that is not that bad..for more info just Google it.
@WestCoastMods Question about this. I've only just ordered a calibrator, but when you calibrate, do you have to set the monitor on custom color mode and then calibrate? Or can you set it on Game Mode and calibrate that since I do a bit of gaming and want the reduced input lag time? Thanks!
@eshudnow Yes it can be on any one of the presets...the calibrator that I have only ask me to set the contrast and brightness and it does all the rest.
Do you have any tint issues ? Did you tried with a white background image ? Because I had to send back two of those because they had the same tint issue : from the middle of the screen they fade to blue to the left and pink to the right. That's really annoying, and for the price tag that's a huge problem.
@Gofromiel Yeah I have heard some ppl having the tint problem, however I have had no such problems on either of mine.. and talking to many others who have owned this monitor, and they also have not had the tint problem. I guess it's luck of the draw...which really sucks. Where yours Rev A01?
If you have time check out my Comparison vid IPS vs TN and you will see that I used a white background as a example and no noticeable tinting problem on the U2410 monitor.
@WestCoastMods Yes, they were Rev A01, but assembled in April in Czech Republic, unlike yours which was assembled in Mexico. Maybe the entire Czech line has the problem. That's too bad, because I really don't want any other monitor. I guess I'll have to wait for the bad batch to pass...
Just thought I'd put this here, this video was a big factor in my purchase of a pair of these bad boys. After setting them up and taking a look at some pictures I immediately noticed a difference over my old LCD and CRT monitors. One other reason I bought them was because I could hook up everything in my front room to them and have enough hookups to plug two computers into it - I couldn't find a TN panel with the hookups these have. I've had mine for two months now. No regrets. May get a third.
@WestCoastMods WTF... WHATS WRONG WITH ME... FUCK I REALLY GOT SO PISSED OFF WITH ALEBRA LOL... sorry im asking for the nissan gtr r35 background thanks... sorry for the math... lol i hate high school... xD
@Gaara7809 Yeah there was a pretty big difference between the two monitors. I really don't remember what connection the 22" had, but I think it just had DVI and VGA
@eveil Hell you can buy a 40" for the same price, however you get what you pay for. A HDTV sucks IMO as a PC monitor. At a max res of 1080 text looks blurry and pictures are not crisp and sharp when you go beyond a 24" monitor. In fact I prefer a 24" monitor to have 1200 res, more pixels per inch means a better picture quality overall. However you need to start with a quality monitor first than worry about it's max res.
@eveil ppl think bigger is better, but that is not true when it comes to monitors, unless the resolution goes up to. If you want a large monitor then I would go with a 30" at 2560X1600 res compared to a 32" HDTV at 1920X1080. The larger you go with a res of 1080 the more things other than movies look pixelated.
Anyway you may disagree, but if I was to put my 30" next to any HDTV 30" or larger you would see what I'm talking about. How large could one go without distorting the picture?
@Kitarist88 The ZR24w looks like a real nice monitor, if I get my hands on one I will do a review on it. Or maybe you can send me one, so I can do a review. lol
@Zepplinne I think you meant over 5ms. This monitor has no noticeable ghosting at it's 6ms response time. Also DarkMX1000 bought 3 to run Eyefinity, and he's a pretty hardcore gamer, he also hasn't noticed any ghosting.
I not supporting all monitors at 6ms, but this I am.
@Zepplinne No problem. you know that ms whether it be 2, 5 or 6 or whatever it is...is how fast white can turn to black and visa-versa. Not necessarily frame rate.
@WestCoastMods Actually almost always "2 ms", "5 ms" or "6 ms" figures are not black-to-white but grey-to-grey (GtG or G2G) measurement claims. Black-to-white is also called Rise/Fall time and it is ISO standard. This G2G was probably invented to boost marketing... you know, lower figure sounds always better.
Is the "Dell UltraSharp U2412M" also a good choice? Not looking for an extreme good monitor, just a good ips monitor with nice colours for a fairly low price.
Chainzaw1447 2 months ago
@Chainzaw1447 Seems like a nice monitor from it's specs...but the response time is a little slow (8ms)...so it may not be good for gaming.

Avoid U2410. It is 16:10 so you get smaller FOV in games. U2311H and U2711 is far better alternatives.

@SvrRud3Bwoy Glad to see that everything worked out in the end. If I may ask how did you get Dell to send you a new 24" U2410. My understanding is that they very seldom send out test units...that why you never see anyone doing reviews on them. Please tell me your secret.
Thanks

Hi, i realy like this monitor...im saving a lot to buy it (here in argentina cost more than U$S 850). Im a graphic designer, buy im also edit a lot of multimedia too...this monitor had a good video resolution (like full HD?) I couldnt find it on the specification. What do you think about it? I really like to see movies in excelent quality too. Any suggestion? or maybe another monitor to recomendation? thanks and sorry for my bad english...
darkwoman13 1 year ago
@darkwoman13 They res on this monitor is 1920X1200. Yeah it is a all around good monitor, but if you are going to watch a lot of movies then you may want something with a glossy screen or maybe a LED backlight monitor. I have no suggestions though, as I don't watch to many movies on my monitor.

6ms response time = FAIL for gamerz
lilbro209 1 year ago
@lilbro209 Do you honestly think you can tell the difference between 6ms and 2ms resonse time...you must have a very discerning eye. And even if you can tell the difference, which I can't...it's well worth the trade off when compare to the low quality of the TN panels...2ms or not.
WestCoastMods 1 year ago
@lilbro209 I used to own at UT with my 8 ms TN panel and that was a very hectic game. tbh im only now thinking of replacing it for this monitor cus of its size, 1:1 mapping, and the fact that its ips instead of a TN cus tbh theres no fast paced first person shooters coming out latly and i can see myself on the playstation 3 and diablo 3 in the immediate future.

typical gamer "I didn't like the colour setting so I wasted money on some stupid calbrating thing"
MEareCAT 1 year ago
@MEareCAT LOL...that shows how much you know....first off I am not even a true gamer...I build custom Rigs for gamers.....and the color calibrator is not so games look accurate, but so the monitor represents true color...it's important when you want to edit a photo, then print it out...if you monitor and printer are no calibrated to the same icc profile then what you see on your monitor will be different then what you see on paper....
Maybe not important to you, but for me it is...not gaming

Component has 5 inputs.. 3 video, 2 audio.
Where are the audio inputs for component on this monitor? Surely it doesn't have video component only?
ProDaviid 1 year ago
@ProDaviid Yeah it just has video component in...you would need the optional sound bar to get sound.
WestCoastMods 1 year ago
@WestCoastMods Can I plug the component sound into speakers? Don't want the sound bar..
ProDaviid 1 year ago
@ProDaviid Is this hooked up to a computer...if so use the on-board sound or a dedicated sound card. But if if this is for something else, then just use what every is producing the sound to your speakers, whether that be component or something else...ie HDMI, optical, composite, ect. Just use the video component cables to drive the display.

Hey will subscribe if you answer cuz i really need to know, For gaming what would be best the samsung PX-2370 or this one?
lizardmannnn 1 year ago
@lizardmannnn Sorry for the late reply....but thats all personal choice...the U2410 is very decent for gaming and offers so many other options...whereas the 2370 offers nothing and is a TN panel....if all you do is gaming...then it is a toss up..but if you do anything else, then it's a no brainer.

I recently bought a Dell Studio XPS 16" notebook w/ HD-LED screen... I want a 2nd screen... Do you recommend this monitor?
EsotericDesi01 1 year ago
@EsotericDesi01 All I can say is that I am very satisfied...was a little apprehensive knowing it was a Dell....but I was quite surprised. I have 2 now and am debating to by a third...or 2 more 30" to go with my 1 30" that I already own...tough decision....
WestCoastMods 1 year ago
is 24" too big for games or is it convinient? I am using a 22" one and need a new one now.
Kamenos4ever 1 year ago
@Kamenos4ever It's all personal preference, If I could afford it I would use 3-30" monitors to play games.
WestCoastMods 1 year ago
@Kamenos4ever don't consider this monitor... it is an IPS monitor and will be horrible for gaming. 24 inches is not too big if you are currently using a 22 inch and don't find it too big. it's only a 2 inch difference.
you should look for a new LED monitor, like the samsung ones, which will be cheaper and brighter than this one.

but is Dell U2410 6,MS monitor.... other monitor is 2 MS cost cheaper, can u guys explain abit
roketmode 1 year ago
@roketmode It is in the difference in panel technology...all 2ms monitors are TN panels which IMO are a waste of money...And the U2410 is a IPS panel, which is one of the best technologies, with great color reproduction, great viewing angle, sharp crisp text. Also IPS monitors are normally build with a much higher level of quality, and have many more connectivity ports, has height, swivel, rotate and tilt adjustments, things you won't get with a TN panel. can you see the dif between 2ms & 6ms?
WestCoastMods 1 year ago
@BetaOverclocking Their lower end monitors are anything but kickass. I've had two U2311Hs sent to me (original order and exchange). Both have horrible backlight bleed/leakage.
alexgoven 1 year ago
Nice monitor, personally I pick lower response time over size. Philips 220C is good, 22'' 1680x1050, 2ms response and 75Hz, so yea. But dell do make some kickass monitors.
BetaOverclocking 1 year ago
@BetaOverclocking yeah, it really all depends on what someone will be using it for. As a occasional gamer, response time isn't as important as color accuracy, viewing angle, monitor stand adjustments and quality of overall build. In a TN panel you will get very few of these if any at all. But if someone is just mostly using the monitor to play games a TN panel with a 2ms response time would be desirable. But in my sincere opinion I can not see the difference between 2ms and 6ms, have owned both
WestCoastMods 1 year ago
Is it 6ms or 16? At first you were saying 16, then you started saying 6ms lag time. Great vid. Thanks!
chronocream 1 year ago
@chronocream Never said 16....it's 6ms response time.
WestCoastMods 1 year ago
@WestCoastMods I think you said 16ms around 9:28 but its no big deal, great review!
GryphonDork 1 year ago
@GryphonDork Thanks for clearing that up for me...yes the monitor has 16ms lag time which is different from the response time which is 6ms... response time is how long it takes a pixel to go from black to white and back. Lag time is known as input lag. Input lag contributes to the overall latency in the interface chain of the user's inputs.
controller --> PC --> graphics card --> monitor --> your eyes.
And at 16ms, that is not that bad..for more info just Google it.
WestCoastMods 1 year ago
@WestCoastMods Yeah bro, know I know what you were asking sorry.....yes the monitor has 16ms lag time which is different from the response time which is 6ms... response time is how long it takes a pixel to go from black to white and back. WestCoastMods 1 year ago
@WestCoastMods Question about this. I've only just ordered a calibrator, but when you calibrate, do you have to set the monitor on custom color mode and then calibrate? Or can you set it on Game Mode and calibrate that since I do a bit of gaming and want the reduced input lag time? Thanks!
eshudnow 1 year ago
@eshudnow Yes it can be on any one of the presets...the calibrator that I have only ask me to set the contrast and brightness and it does all the rest.

Do you have any tint issues ? Did you tried with a white background image ? Because I had to send back two of those because they had the same tint issue : from the middle of the screen they fade to blue to the left and pink to the right. That's really annoying, and for the price tag that's a huge problem.
Gofromiel 1 year ago
@Gofromiel Yeah I have heard some ppl having the tint problem, however I have had no such problems on either of mine.. and talking to many others who have owned this monitor, and they also have not had the tint problem. I guess it's luck of the draw...which really sucks. Where yours Rev A01?
If you have time check out my Comparison vid IPS vs TN and you will see that I used a white background as a example and no noticeable tinting problem on the U2410 monitor.
LazyMan
WestCoastMods 1 year ago
@WestCoastMods Yes, they were Rev A01, but assembled in April in Czech Republic, unlike yours which was assembled in Mexico. Maybe the entire Czech line has the problem. That's too bad, because I really don't want any other monitor. I guess I'll have to wait for the bad batch to pass...
Gofromiel 1 year ago
@Gofromiel I think you're correct...that sucks that they don't use the same panels regardless where they are assembled.

@Gaara7809 Yeah there was a pretty big difference between the two monitors. I really don't remember what connection the 22" had, but I think it just had DVI and VGA
WestCoastMods 1 year ago
The buttons just attracted me. But its kinda pricy for a monitor you can get a Sony KDL32EX400 Full 1080p LCD TV for that price.
eveil 1 year ago
@eveil Hell you can buy a 40" for the same price, however you get what you pay for. A HDTV sucks IMO as a PC monitor. At a max res of 1080 text looks blurry and pictures are not crisp and sharp when you go beyond a 24" monitor. In fact I prefer a 24" monitor to have 1200 res, more pixels per inch means a better picture quality overall. However you need to start with a quality monitor first than worry about it's max res.
WestCoastMods 1 year ago
@eveil ppl think bigger is better, but that is not true when it comes to monitors, unless the resolution goes up to. If you want a large monitor then I would go with a 30" at 2560X1600 res compared to a 32" HDTV at 1920X1080. The larger you go with a res of 1080 the more things other than movies look pixelated.
Anyway you may disagree, but if I was to put my 30" next to any HDTV 30" or larger you would see what I'm talking about. How large could one go without distorting the picture?
WestCoastMods 1 year ago
@eveil But you can't use your lcd tv for office work (ok, barely) or color critical work.

for gaming 2ms is the perfect response time, anything under 5ms is unacceptable as it show noticeable ghosting
Zepplinne 1 year ago
@Zepplinne I think you meant over 5ms. This monitor has no noticeable ghosting at it's 6ms response time. Also DarkMX1000 bought 3 to run Eyefinity, and he's a pretty hardcore gamer, he also hasn't noticed any ghosting.
I not supporting all monitors at 6ms, but this I am.

WestCoastMods 1 year ago
yeah sorry i meant over 5ms, and yeah this is a pretty good monitor but to be honest i prefer the higher frames than the higher res
Zepplinne 1 year ago
@Zepplinne No problem. you know that ms whether it be 2, 5 or 6 or whatever it is...is how fast white can turn to black and visa-versa. Not necessarily frame rate.
WestCoastMods 1 year ago
@WestCoastMods Actually almost always "2 ms", "5 ms" or "6 ms" figures are not black-to-white but grey-to-grey (GtG or G2G) measurement claims. Black-to-white is also called Rise/Fall time and it is ISO standard. This G2G was probably invented to boost marketing... you know, lower figure sounds always better.

@Zepplinne Don't be too anal about the quoted response time specs. Since they're often bollocks. Only thing it basically tells is h
