of course it will - if you turn the bass all the way up and the volume all the way up - it's going to distort. there is a great range, however.

let's just say that you could crank that song up and be amazed by the clarity and thump - it's only at top ranges and volumes that you will notice distortion. this is a truly awesome sound system!

@geardiary In addition, the volume in the video is cranked right up to 24. I keep mine at 9-10 (using iPhone 3GS), and in a large room it is PLENTY loud enough.

@JELLYBEAN1133 Idunno about that geardiary said, but i have the same stereo and i've turned the bass all the way up, treble all the way up, and volume to max and played one of the best bass songs i can find; Concentrate by xzibit and there was absolutly no distortion whatsoever. I could hear it from miles away and its really worth the buck if you want something LOUD

I have both, the Apple Hi-Fi does not have dedicated tweeters--the top end sounds poor, no good cymbols! They both have a lot of Bass, but the KICKER is louder and clearer in the bass. The Hi-Fi was discontinued by Apple. Overall the KICKER is better, louder and the bass is better defined, plays lower and is more musical.

Yes it does vibrate the windows. It is rated at 100 Watts. Behind it is a 6 inch SUB woofer.

I am weary leaving it unattended as well, at high volumes it walks across the table. I bought a 12v car adaptor to make it portable while camping and at the beach. Power source is jump start power pack that has built in cigarette lighter socket. Lasts all day. Built in DSP is one of the features i like about this unit, all music is equalised. Goes loud and can do it all day, small unit but big big sound for an iPod dock i really like it so do my mates.

The problem I have with this one and others is that the vibration on a table will knock the thing off the table if left unattended, you could wind up with a broken pod. Even rubber feet do not adress this well.
