  • Curtis Mayfield was one of the greatest songwriters in the entire history of Popular music! God bless your sweet Soul, Curtis!

  • Awwww yeah I rember this one....

  • whatever, people. this is a song i've always loved. I'm the one who loves you. Love me. I personally don't care about anything else. Look into my eyes and one more time realize...

  • Curtis Mayfield is and will always be one of the greatest talents to come out of Chicago. His contribution to the musical world cannot be downplayed or ignored. If it weren't for that Chicago housing project we wouldn't have the likes of him, Jerry Butler, Sam Cooke. . . .and on and on. RIP those talents who gave rise to a culture and genre we won't see again!

  • i dont know about that mr worf..with all the hundreds of live videos out there showing CURTIS playing that guitar..i think thats proof enough of his fine musicianship..let alone his exceptional vocal work and composing..a true musician..thank you curtis..GOD BLESS..

  • Truth be told... Curtis was almost a musical illiterate. He picked out the melodies and tunes simply on a cobbed up guitar. Johnny Pate, jazz musician and superb arranger put the love and soul into Curtis' songs. Johnny said in an interview that he and other jazz cats laughed at guys Curtis, but Curtis had what he and those others did not have... poetry in his soul. They will be forever linked, one could not have shined without the other...

    Worf

  • Are these guys in the rock and roll hall of fame? If not, that's a crime.

  • @thepoopie2 Yes they are in the rock and roll hall of fame, vocal group hall of fame and Curtis Mayfield needs to be and should already have been, if he's not, in the songwriters hall of fame.

  • This Brings Back Some Sweet Memories Of The Family Get Togethers Back Home In Balltimore,Md Where I Grew Up.Thanks 4 Posting This Soulhawk,This One Had Definitly Brought Back A Few Good Memories.

  • This was such an awesome and underappreciated group, songs like this shows why they should be mentioned in the conversations when we discuss the greaest all time bands, in particular, from the 60's.

  • ahhhhh...a big fave of mine thx ...mmmm

  • This has always been one of my favorite all time songs. It brings back wonderful high school memories. I bet I've played it a thousand times and never get tired of it. Thanks for posting.

  • This, like so much of the Impressions'/Curtis Mayfield's work just massages the body and mind. So happy to have in my personal collection. Thank you Soulhawk. Smooches.

  • Classic Curtis/Johnny Pate beautiful beyond words. Epitomizes Curtis' "minstrel" (not black face fools_ phase. A troubador singing tales of unrequited love. Amazing songwriting.

    Worf

  • To me Curtis's death was as big a tragedy as the passing of Otis, Marvin, James or David Ruffin. A big big loss.

Thank God General Johnson is still singing, I can still relate to my youth.

Miss you all people. Thanks for what you brought us, then left behind.

The world is a better place for it.

  • FINALLY, thank you!

  • familiar to the arcades theres got to be a loser class

  • Fantastic group.

  • Greatt little track this, under played.

  • Classic cut from soul brother #1.....

    R.I.P Mr. Mayfield.

  • it's nice of you to show respect to Mr. Mayfield. But the nickname SOUL BROTHER #1 has already been bestowed on someone else. A brother whose initials are J.B., if you know what I mean.

  • I thought J.B. was "The Godfather Of Soul". I guess he held many titles-lol.

  • Godfather of Soul, Soul Brother#1, Mr. Dynamite, and of course the Hardest working man in Show Business. Soul Brother #1 was given him in the mid 60's as he was musically involved in the civil rights movement of that particular time.

  • Yes, I remember that. Thanks for jogging my memory, Ronnie. Also, I checked out your channel...you sing & play real nice. Very soulful! Keep up the great work!

    Daddy C

  • ace track 10/10
