  • I tried to add an addon to my wow account however after putting the files into the addon folder in the interface folder (etc) i went to the ingame character selection menu, there is no addon button on that page, apparently the button is ment to be left of the enter world button, however there is nothing there but an empty space. help? -__-

  • @Rawrlock Check that the file is unzipped and placed correctly. Just inside the addon folder should be a .toc file. If the .toc file is not there, WoW will not recognize it as an addon. You can check any folders inside that folder (sometimes authors try to be TOO helpful and put the addon in subfolders)

  • thanks Elfbandit, this was a great help

  • @Nightmare5355 glad I could help =)

One day I think I'll redo the video since the recording quality is crummy and some of the file paths aren't what they used to be.

  • THANKS!

  • uuughhh shiver...... he sounds like a pedo

  • Why dont i have a addons folder

  • @raiden480 @gundhorien1997 double-check where your actual WoW folder is; the video is getting kind of old and Windows 7 likes to move it around. Go to your start menu and search for World of Warcraft and find the folder that has WoW.exe in it. That will be the folder that will have your addons as well.

  • i did that you said but i dont find eny interface folder....

(when i go in to the wow folder its empty to...why?)

  • when i go to enter the user and password i dont have addons there.

    Can someone please help me

  • @dabitko you'll need to log into the game to see the menu. The character selection screen, to be specific.

  • i got my stuff in the addons folder and its not in my game piz help

  • @grindcore4allsbro did you make sure to extract all of the folders from the .zip, and are there sub-folders inside the top folder? When you open up the actual addon folder, it should have a bunch of files in it with endings like .toc, .xml, and .lua (plus images and other stuff). If not, then you need to dig down to the folder that does contain them, and move them up into the addon folder.

  • @elfbandit ty

  • @elfbandit Why dont i have an addon button in my character selection screen??

  • hey thank you so much for this video i was looking for somethign like it i can now use addons thank you also dont take this wrong way or nothing but i like your voice :D it makes me feel good

  • ur voice ... made me calm

  • WoW thx alot XD it works

  • I did what you showed in the videos, like for example i got xperl from curse gaming, BUT when i put it in the add ons folder it doesn't show my addons, why is that?

  • i do not have the interface in my wow foldeR?

  • @jay22jack check to make sure that you are looking at the correct WoW folder. The interface folder should be right inside along with folders named WTF, WDB, Cache, Data, Errors, etc.

  • I dont have the addon button when I load up my character select

  • k, nvm i found the folder and dragged it in but its not showing up on the actual game :S

  • i went to my program files folder, went to world of warcraft, opened it, but all there is in the folder is "World Of Warcraft.ink.temp" there's no folders at all in my wow folder, lol heelp :p

  • I did all the same stuff you did and the folder appeared on my desktop so picked it up and dropped it in the addons folder and 2 out of 5 of the addons i dropped in appear in the addons pop up at the "enter world" screen. Bartender and Mage nuggest worked but cartographer atlas loot and omnicc did not appear

  • @Wadeness555 sometimes, addons have multiple files associated with them that are inside the addon folder itself. To test for this: open up the addon folder, and if there are just more folders inside of that (no.toc or .xml files) then extract those files into the addons folder (so you have a whole bunch of folders for one addon instead of one big one).

I know as a fact that atlasloot is broken into 4 "modules" for each of the expansions, so you don't have to load the items you don't need.

  • when i log in to WoW the addon button doesnt appear

please respond i really want to get my addons working and i dont know what to do

  • never mind i got it to work

thank you for the video it helped out alot

  • when u log in the addon button should be near your character list

  • i dont have the interface folder O_O

  • are you sure you're looking in the right place? Wow sometimes sticks some other folders on your computer, but you must have an interface folder in order for the game to run properly

  • yea i found it now

  • i saw the note for windows 7 but i cant find it. . .

  • check inside your program files too. It might be hiding there

  • i dont if somebody already helped you but in the search bar type c: and you should see user then click on that then games

  • your voice is like... emotionless

  • On windows 7 i dont have my wow folder whataaat ?!?!?!

  • lucky for you I upgraded, so I can help you there. For some reason, in windows 7 Wow installs in a new "games" folder that can be hard to find. Open up "my computer" and follow this path:

    C:/Users/Public/Games

And your Wow folder will be right there

  • theres no addon folder in my wow fodler

  • look inside the "interface" folder; it's inside of that.

  • sounds like u had weed b4 this

    lmaoo jks jks

    nice nice

  • i think it helped me 2

  • i found the interface but i only have Cinematics inside there i am using google chrome and have a windows xp can some one tell me whats going on?

  • your browser and operating system don't change where the files go. Are you sure you are in the correct folder? Make sure you are in your program files and the World of Warcraft folder. Inside, you should see a bunch of patches along with the Cache, data, Interface, Logs, Movies, WTF and WDB folders. The interface folder is where the addons will go.

  • boring voice...

  • like hes seriously lame or boring or rly old.

  • Well explained :)

  • i find interface but no addon

  • It really helped me. thanks.

  • i dont see the addon bar in wow.... im sure i have downloaded the addons

  • i have the same problem

  • do wow allow these?

  • yes! In fact, addons could not exist if Blizzard did not support them. Addons are like programs that run inside the game. This lets blizzard control what they can and cannot do, so they're safe to run (although sometimes the addons you download can be bundled with viruses, so be careful)

You can actually open up most addons in a text editor and see the code itself- they're really cool

  • thanks for the info

  • WoW allows all addons that corrispond with their rules. I.e non that give you an unfair advantage, e.g. any that control your character for you.

  • Im having some problems there is no world of warcraft folder in my my programs for my windows vista.

  • I must confess that I am not all too familiar with Vista, but most likely you changed your install location when you installed the game. Good places to look are you personal files, desktop, and if worse comes to worse, doing a search for "World of Warcraft" to try to find it that way. Once you've done that, just find the interface folder and work from there.

  • I found mine in the public>games

  • cheers mate

  • when i go into applications there is no interface folder (im on a mac)

  • thank you so much uv helped me alot

its was so great and generous of you to make this helpful video

    :D

  • only flaw in this would be a step-by-step from start menu on how to access program files. other than that another great vid. helped me again

  • I tried to do that the best I could, but unfortunately my video capture software is on my mac, so it looks a little different. For most windows users, the file path will look like:

    c:Program Files\World of Warcraft\Interface\addons

Just click the folders in that order, and you'll get to the right place.

  • It would be nice of you to answer me. I do excatly what you do in your video, but it's a problem. When I put the file inside the addon folder, and I log on wow, it's not there. Do I have to unzip it? or just put the whole thing in it without unzipping it? I really need some help fast. (sorry for my bad english..) -Hysteriical

  • Sorry for the long wait on the reply. yes you MUST unzip the folder into your addon folder. There should be a folder (with the name of your addon) with some files inside (with endings like .toc, .xml, and .lua) Once your game loads it should see them. Hope that helps!

    --Astrael

  • np. ah, well all the files inside it has an ending with ".lua" but it still doesn't work. It's really annoying, because I really need my addons. My old questhelper addon is there, but that one doesn't work. is it possible to remove it? and how? inside the log-in screen's addon file.

  • nice guide thanks ^^

  • Can you help me my add ons button is not appearing

  • make sure that you unzip the folder with the addon in it, and move it to the correct location. Inside the addon folder, you should find some folders like Blizzard_Calendar and Blizzard_GlyphUI that Blizzard put in over the course of the patches.

  • Wow very cool and easy thanks man...:)

  • sry for bad explain

  • it worked for me to open the folder and it was more folders there and i lay them on the addon folder

  • i got the same prob as blaze.

    please help

  • same

  • hey umm.. can u please tell me something..

ive bean playing wow for a wile now and just tryed to add some addons.. now to inable it in the game i donot get because. there is not button on the bottom left hand side to inable them??? please help ...

  • same wtf?!

  • dont u need to unzip it?

  • thanks

  • this is helpful, and you dont sound gay like some ppl are saying, but ty and ill try t out. btw favorited

  • on my mac theres no button when i roght click the add on that lets me extract the file .... help me out

  • Thanks, but since I had to fix my computer WOW was Erased so when I buy it again, this will help me get add-ons I have been trying to get

  • i dont have a addons file in interface!!!

  • i followed all of this, and i have alot of add ons, i keep getting error messages like, "interface failed due to add on" is that normal?

  • this frequently happens when you do not update your addons. Patches frequently change the way addons interact with the game, and the people who write addons change the addons to adapt. The errors usually aren't that big at first, but for the best performance and to make sure everything works, I would recommend updating your addons at least every patch, or after every few months just to keep them current.

  • ok ty, just did this and it is all fixed, ty for the help :-)

  • how do you download it to your desktop?

  • When you click a file to download, there's usually a popup window that asks weather or not you want to download a file. When you see that window, there's also an option on there to set where the file downloads to. When you're searching for the place to download it, the desktop is on the top of the list.

  • dude ty so much. i think its gunna work. ive tried so hard

  • btw what server are u on?

  • boulderfist(US) if you care to visit or ask for some help =)

if you couldn't guess from the title of the video, Astrael is my main character

  • i download a mod and drag the folder to the addons folder but it still wont come up in game :(

  • you need to make a sub folder, like interface, then inside that folder one called add ons, then all the add ons in there , i hope this helped you.

  • Very helpful <3 ty

  • you should have an addon folder insie your interface folder (it's a sub-directory, not directly in your WoW folder) and if it is not there already, just make a folder called "addons" (without the quotes, of course) and the game will access it as though it had created it.

  • i added my questhelper addon by using a vid like this from sumone else, but he just sayed to go to a file my typing it in the adress bar, and i added it but my questhelper doesnt work to well. And ur way seems to be the best but i dont have a Addon folder in my WoW folder.

  • the addons are pissing me off thare not working

  • boulderfist; Alliance side. feel free to stop by =)

  • you should make a pvp video

    and

  • thanks man, this helped alot

  • um guysy on my char login screen theres no addon thing tab? hwo i get that?

  • lol- I voiced it like 3 in the morning because I finally decided to put it together for some reason... maybe I'll redo the voiceover one of these days, but I doubt it

  • can u liknk the site u used to me for the addon

  • "lol- I voiced it like 3 in the morning because I finally decided to put it together for some reason... maybe I'll redo the voiceover one of these days, but I doubt it"

I was just about to ask about the voice-over. A little text would help to emphasize the key points. I had to turn my sound way up to hear you.

  • ok, good vid but you need some emotion in your voice :D

  • I actually enjoy his voice :D it's quite calm

  • probably- check to make sure that directly inside the addon folder you have a bunch of files that end in like '.toc' and '.lua' instead of another folder that has the name of your addon on it.

  • hey elf i am replyng you becouse i have inside the addon i downloaded the docs that have ibn the end . lua and .toc and the addon is not working is couse of that ?

  • yeah

the comment that neferno left is the same problem tht i have got?

  • thx alot

  • Great guide, bro. ;) I stopped playing WoW over a year ago, but I never figured this out...lol I may even give WoW another go who knows.

5 stars, keep it up ;)

    -Ston

  • make sure that the folder you put into the addons folder is fully extracted- sometimes when you download an addon, the file will have a kind of cover file to show you where to put it. Simply find the folder with the name of the addon itself on it and then put that folder into the addon folder.

  • hi,thx but i have a problem!
