@Raaaavioli I watched it out of curiosity. I've been a carpenter for 27yrs, and can build a deck and stairs properly. I'm experienced enough to point out the faults as a warning to DYI'ers that these steps are not legal.
At best these steps would be used as temporary during the construction phase of the bldg., and even then they would be anchored better.
This vid is useless, wrong and should be deleted.
And, by the way, I was stating useful safety facts... you, Raaaavioli are trolling.
i was thinking that it wasn't right... look how arkwood it would be to have to reach out the door to grab the hand rail before going down the stairs. seems dangerous.
When laying out the rises and runs on a 2x12 or 2x10 while using a framing square, always either us the inside of square, or the outside of the square when marking it out. Place the rise side at 7 inches, and the run side of the square at 10 inches. This gives you the exact pitch to keep your stairs level. In other words, keep using the right side of the sqaure as your 7" mark and the left side as your 10" mark. Don't mix up the 2 and you'll be just fine.
35 inches from the ground to the thresh-hold. So knowing the rise is 7 inches, you take 35 divided by 7 = 5. Being the threshold acts as 1 step, you subtract 1 from 5 which = 4.
Now the run was 10 inches, so you are building 4 steps which means you are coming away from the house 40 inches. Don't forget to subtract your your facial board thickness if you're driving 2 posts which will be sticking out of the ground around 6 inches for step stability at the facial board on the bottom step.

@ 2:49 the top 4x4 post should of been closer to the house. It's now has approx. a 6" gap between house & post (does not meet code anywhere). FAIL!
Also, it needs a landing of some kind. Double FAIL!
And technically it needs a "graspable" handrail. Triple FAIL!
Not to mention they are not anchored at the bottom (2:02 to 2:04) they're only sitting on the concrete. Quadruple Fail!
The railing is weak, its only bolted to the stringers and not truly anchored. 5 x's Fail!
These steps suck ass.

These stairs do not meet code anywhere in the US. This exterior entry (door) would require a landing (small deck).

where do you make the first marks? i understand what you are saying here. you have a 2x12 or 2x10 board where do you 1st put the square on the board?

The video actually sucks. It fails to explain how to calculate the height of the risers
