  • allen and heath mixers are an instrument in themselfs

  • what is that first track thats playing when the video starts? its so f****n awsome.

    thx

  • All I have to say is wow!

  • people standing there looking at him mix are stupid, fukin enjoy the party, the dj is not the star

  • just pay attention at 8:45 . . Hawtin`s mixing technique !

  • PLASTIK MAN!!!!

  • sniff .

  • Hawtin is the man !

  • headphones technics RP-DJ1210, mixer XONE 92

  • DETROIT!

  • SEX!

  • SEX!

  • this is what made Hawtin my fav Dj...

What he does today is nothing compared with this...

  • Does anyone know the name of the song at 5:40???

  • Heartthrob+Troy Pierce - Horse nation amended

  • snore.

  • stop arguing bitches!!!! He can teach you all!!!!!!! How can you spit on that guy???? He 's a full part of this music...... No????

  • LMAO it's kind of ridiculous that nobody's actually DANCING in the video - people are just watching him...

  • @HeatSurge and its mostly guys too.

  • Hawtin's best work was loooong ago.

This is dull "minimal". I saw him at Coachella 01'(?) and it was definitley a step backward from all the cool vibe CREATIVE stuff he did w/ fuse and the early plus8 and definitive tracks.

  • MARCO!

  • actually ROB HOOD started the minimal scene. Probably haven't heard of him cuz hes Black, and black folks dont get any recognition in electronic music for the most part. If the guys from Detroit who started techno were white, they would be HUGE. I do like Richie but he is SOO overrated. People kiss his ass all the time.

  • probably you're right...but remember, this guy has more than 20 years of career in his back, Detroit parties were gone even before his half of trajectory and the greater success after Plastikman came also in NY and Europe. Even himself and those who started there with him recognize they never felt very welcome in Detroit parties. I think he started something already existent and turned it into something kinda different, and i love it :-)

  • Rob Hood did start the minimal thing, but the minimal sound that had the most influence was probably Hawtin. It is sort of like the relation between Juan Atkins and Kevin Saunderson. Juan Atkins started detroit techno, but Saunderson can be seen as being more of a pioneer of the first wave of detroit techno.

    UR>Saunderson>Hawtin

  • Juan Atkins, Kevin Soundersson and Kevin Sounderson do get recognition (watch Slices). But they they stayed in Detroit while Richie moved to Europe so that's why he is much more popular. And he also did something very differend than Rob Hood with the Berlin influences.

  • @machinewave Ah I love Hood. First techno show I ever went to. Blew my mind.

  • @machinewave carl cox doenst get recognition?

  • @machinewave I agree. House was made by gay black men in Chicago and techno was made by gay black men in Detroit.

  • @SolForceJxn2 the black men in detroit aren't gay

  • @machinewave Am sure Jeff Mills got a lot of recognition?

  • @machinewave Seriously?? Jeff Mills has never gotten any recognition? Wake up.

  • @Christiantodd1 He's one of thousands. The man/system has always chosen a handful of acceptable Negroes so that he can say what you're saying.

The system is predicated on the average person's laziness. Most will never do the research to really get to the bottom of the issue. EDM is a racist as anything else humans have anything to do with. A very sneaky and passive racism that creates the conditions for people to say what you did. Ask some of your black friends how they feel. (if you have any)

  • @machinewave how is he overrated? the man paid his dues to get where he is today

  • i callllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllleedd yoyuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • I can't believe looking at other DEMF performances how many people rip into like jeff mills and claude young on the comment board but everyones in love with this guy, I fucking hate him he's so incredibly boring, 4 to the floor everytime and not fast or slow just right down the middle, it makes me sick how much love this guy gets compared to his afro-american contemporaries that run circles around him, i.e. claude young, jeff mills, carl craig, juan atkins, scan 7, octave one.

  • thats just rude. richie is minimal and kind of the founder of the style. also somewhat of a genius, go listen to him talk. and if you dont like it, dont listen to it.

  • @ivvanthegreat2 Rob Hood is the undisputed founder!

  • Treat him for what he is, the gateway for many into techno. Frankly, I will agree that he is highly overrated, but I still can enjoy what he does on an on night, but there are far better contemporary djs even among those spinning minimal techno and tech house.

  • now i know what mixer is that's alen&heath 92 but reworked by Mathew Hawtin!!!called CTRL 92

  • this mixer he is useing looks like a&h 92,but look closer,i dont realy think its normal 92,got some midi on the left side!!!any ideas what mixer is this???

  • Xone 92 customized by hawtin's father woth a&h engineers...

  • He enjoys turning those knobs, doesnt he.......

  • ambivalent - nugget

lil louis - i called you (lyrics min 1)

heartthrob & troy pierce - horse nation amended

  • Lil Louis - I Called You (Lyrics min 1)

  • Boring...I remember days when Dj's bought twice the same track, d-d-ou-bled-ou-bled, phased with just two vertical faders....

  • yep fur sure

  • man i thought he was better, this is just boring is 07 though

  • At least the bpm's are up.

  • sickkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • w w w.myspace.c o m/saidessedj

  • Richie is the god!!!

  • does anybody knows what is the acapella he drops at the first? many thanks

  • sorry i've just seen it

  • Man it must be annoying to have people so close to you while you're mixing...plus you risk that someone fucks with your wires etc . Why don't they do a stage so that more people can see the DJ?

  • i want to chill beside richie, moron. you can dance with your mom while I talk about mixing techniques with him

  • dude why do you answer stuff like that? I'm just saying, wouldn't it be a good idea if have the stage was a bit higher so that people can see him in the back. If you think Ritchie will talk about mixing technique with you while he's playing at DEMF, I'm afraid you are the moron here.

An intelligent answer from you would have been ''the whole point of the beatport tent partys at DEMF is to have the artist close to the floor, creates a more intimate vibe'' but you chose to fail instead. peace

  • well there wouldn't be much mixing techniques to talk about since all he does now is use traktor and autosync

  • it's not all about beatmatching!

but, actually i wouldn't like to talk to people the whole night long...i would get annoyed by that at some point...:D

  • yeah because the whole point of deejaying is beatmatching.

    you dont dj, do you?

  • its not the whole point, but its one aspect of djing.

    d(-_-)b

  • the whole point of DJing is NOT beatmatching, it is MIXING. you HAVE to beatmatch with turntables because there's no other way, but the ultimate point is MIXING. no one except DJ's give a fuck about the technique involved, they just want to hear mixing..and mixing software that auto-syncs the tracks open up a WHOLE LOT MORE doors for mixing than in previous years when all DJs had to use were turntables

  • of course its not ;) this was an ironic post and i completely agree with you

  • haha fair enough

  • lol Doug, nice one ;)

  • @DougYfunnie there isn't a whole point, there are many. beatmatching included

  • @DougYfunnie excuse me but what is the point of being a dj if you beat sync everything then basically anyone can do it, you have it so so wrong in this comment no talent involved there. you beat match then you mix simple as if you cant do that then you aint no dj, and ill say turntables are the best way for a dj no computer crap needed if you can really dj open your eyes.

  • @raul23perth Word up!

  • @DougYfunnie You're missing the point. Anyone who just blindly accepts laptop Dj.'s are just partiers. Some of us are students of the culture who are impressed by creativity. Limitations force Dj.'s to truely innovate. No matter who they are, or how many tracks they can sync up, they will never get the respect of the true heads. For every door that technology opens, there is a creative/artistic door that closes. Convenience is what got us to where we are now (fucked). Folks need to wake up!

  • Nah the whole point isn t just beatmatching m8! beatmatching was the fundamenthal step, not so much any more because you can get programs and softwarwe to do it for you, the point of dj'ing for me is to have a unique and your own style!! =]

  • @Toxiccheese1990 Beat Matching separates the tuely dedicated from the convenience based enthusiasts. What type of person wants to take a short cut when it comes to art? How can you fully develop a style when the machine is doing one of the most technically difficult aspects for you?

  • The best video of richie

  • look. at. that. allen and heath mixer.

    d(-_-)b

  • holy christ its a xone 92!

  • u can se the laptop at minute 2:48

  • The laptop must be in the bottom left of the screen(his right) ........1:01

  • pure la cocaine

  • ambivalent - nuggets

  • how can he know what the next track is if there's no laptop in sight

is this all milli vanili and he's pre-programmed it all?

  • where's the laptop???

  • grande richie sei il numero uno

  • NUGGETS!

  • Found !

Tha acapella is Lili Louis - I called you

  • It's a vinyl white serato...Limited Edition !

  • why vinyl r white??

  • i suppose he is playing two M_nus vinyls....

  • its a limited edition serato time coded vinyl

  • The answer is one: HE is using a RANE SERATO SCRATCH LIVE :)

  • right!

  • you're a massive faggot if you dont think Richie deserves a shitload of respect. someones gotta rep the 313, might as well be me

  • What's ?

  • DETROIT-

  • What's the nema of Acapella ??????

  • So you know Britt, Josh, Dozia, Moss, etc?

  • two one fiiiiiive!

  • richie i am not sure is the best but he's certainly a great dj and master of messing with peoples heads. he's the only person in the world that has managed to create hype around techno. for example when's the last time you said "richie did that and OMG i couldn't believe he brought a talking robot with him and ricardo was all messed up.." or something like that. just me talking about him and us fighting about him gives him publicity. he wins no matter what. which is why hawtin is brilliant.

  • He's the best :D

  • of course you are.

what genre of music did you help pioneer?

how many releases did you put out over the past two decades...and on what labels?

how many records have you sold so far?

and have you ever played outside your bedroom?

oh...and...something stinks...did you forget to change your diapers?

  • ya..currie. whats with the "lol" you the only one being laughed at.. mps??, i don't care if hes playing with his left toe.. rich is mr techno!

  • *very nice :)

    *M_NUS* SPECIAL 02.10.08 @ Centrum Erfurt!

MAGICAL RICHIE HAWTIN feat. G.A.I.S.E.R. and many more ;)

  • Whats the last song hes playing...?

  • sorry to burst your buble mielony89 but Richie's been using Serato for years. The white "vinyls" are time code controllers and you can see him access him Macbook Pro.

  • la vocal su name is pliss

  • bravoooooo!!!

  • Ambivalent - Nugget then Troy Pierce vs Heartthrob - Horse Nation Amended

  • 8:30 = paul ritch - winter ceremony

  • 4:34 anyone?

and he is playin mp3's btw!

  • 5:50 is heartthrob vs troy pierce - horse nation amended

  • "Fuck CD`s and MP3. real DJs play vinyls!" (Ortofon)

when i first read it, i know, that this is everithing about music. enjoy DECKS:)

  • real djs play music and don't spend time chastizing other djs for how they play music.

  • i don't care what medium he's using, the end product is amazing. digital djing is always a sensitive issue, to the people that are scared to move into the future. by no means what richie's is doing now any easier than mixing on 2 decks and a mixer. if anything its more difficult because he has so many things going on at once. i recommend those still antiquated in the stone age of vinyl records to watch his video on the traktor scratch website. you can then understand what he's trying to do.

  • troy pierce - horse nation

  • thanks

  • the song 5:50?

  • true, times are changing and it's not anything bad necessarly. In the same way shitty djs existed on the 90s they also exist now, and luckyly this one is not the case. But anyway, who cares if someone is playing on vinyl or final scratch, after all you need to be very skilled on both two if you want to do a good work...

  • Lil' Louis - I Called U

  • the first track with the voice ???

  • nice mixing ! i got decks but im a begginer

  • serrato or final scratch whatever! The fact of the matter is thats pussy ass shit!! Anyone can do that, I still spin vinyl, its more challenging and more fun. I lost all respect for plastikman now!!!

  • ableton

  • ableton is even easier than serrato. there is no beatmatching involved at all!! you can purposely push off on the 3 count and it will still go back to the one count. deadmau5 uses ableton as well. I cant believe richie would go to that level, he used to be a sick dj and now a fuckin faggot. I'd blow him out of the water using vinyl alone. now he's like a tommy lee pressing buttons!

  • yea ino what u mean, tommy lee is pretty shit only good for track selection, but if u think, we know richie is a god on vinyl anyway so what does he have left to prove?

  • staying true to his game like many other djs out there. how dare he let technology get involved in his sets. look at other techno gods like frankie bones still spinning vinyl. that is staying true to your game!!!

  • yea but still your to narrow minded, this can bring the good aswell as the bad, if we all thot like u hitler would be the president! richie is godly

  • its obvious you know nothing about producing, nothing about quantizing and nothing about trak, mix and master!! your probably some rave kid on drugs who found music and think its your life when rehab truly is!!

  • actually nothing of the sort, i take it ur sum kinda godly figure who is obviously better than aloada superstar dj's i quote ''I'd blow him out of the water using vinyl alone'' but instead ur some failed asshole who decides to take the angry route and slabber about those who made it big?

  • no sorry fag! i am from the 90's culture and have sold over 100,000 copies of my album flatline. I am best friends to simply jeff and frankie bones, gene hunt and others. ask any of them, this pussy twist to djing is gay. i used to love richie back in 97 when you were probably spankin it to the jc penny ads. learn and observe you have a long way to go.

  • right, havnt a clue what jc penny is, not goin 2 argue further. i understand ur points and i know myself iv a long way 2 go i dont need u 2 tell me that! fair play about ur album(if ur tellin the truth)

  • brotha i have had my ups and downs. remember to be careful on your judgment to djs when others watched them from birth. your new to the game and i bet you dont even know what quantizing is. this whole technology setup with djs is a slap in the face to us artist. call 714 895 dj4u thats simply jeffs record store. ask him about serrato and abelton live, they will tell you. i am no dick, only real and pissed on how my scene is turning out!!!

  • i do know and i am learning, but suprisingly learning fast and moving onto better equip! gona take your advice and not go down the ableton route! cheers man, feel for your thoughts

  • Mate its called get with the times, shit is changing. Have a sook that people are not carrying around bags of records. So what Richie decides to place his music through another medium, his laptop.

You have no idea, sorry little one.

  • He seems so arrogant(*?)... doesnt look like he's having any fun

  • Talented though.. very good

  • Wow Horse Nation Track Is so Awesome!!!!Amazing
