  • awesome, greetings from mexico dude you rock!

  • fucking annoying accent :p

  • @aassyr1111 Sorry. I see you're from Iraq. Would you like me to get my voice box altered to something that is more pleasing to you? Or, I do some brilliant impressions that might be better for you. My Saddam is second to none!

  • @Dmanlamius76 woo man take it easy i am kidding i swear, i am more into American accent than british and its just a typical thing to be making fun about accents.

i do not mean to be be offensive or something its just you people sound so happy and full of joy :p

  • @aassyr1111 Ha ha! No problem man. I was only joking. Sometimes humour gets lost in text, eh? :)

  • haha got the same bass almost muh dude but i got the lb305 with the bass booster.

  • Thanks mate, you're a great bass player and you're getting me all excited for buying my first bass guitar!

  • you are funny. :D

  • back to the BASSics! see what I did there? bahahahahaha

  • @Leheno Thats exactly what I called it!, but people started shouting at me, saying I can't spell. Good humour is lost on some people....

  • @Dmanlamius76 write it this way : Back to Bas(s)ics

i bet the people will get the joke :D

  • haha what happened on 5:48?

    It disturbed your concentration!! haha:P

  • Damn!!! thats a long guitar!!!

  • its a bass

  • 5:47,

    That someone sawing wood xD?

  • i like to slip my thumb under the strings, tis comfy and it keeps them muted well- also can pop from that position

  • hey men you're holligan, i saw you in a game of west ham VS. loverpool

  • Nice shirt!

  • great videos man. but how do you know wich tone fits with the other to get that sound that you like. i like that funky sound when you play fingerwalking, and then i like slapping. but it´s really hard to get the sound i want. need help with this.

  • i could be wrong but im pretty sure it just comes from getting used to what sound what fret makes and eventualy youll know where to go to get what sound...theres probably an easier way but thats all i can think of

  • Aha the dog randomely barking near the end lol

  • right i feel ike my bass is too bad to slap.

I know its bad blaming the bass but its a starsound bass guitar, I think the pick ups are just that shit. I love bass but i might invest and just buy a nice fender percussion or something

  • well bro, nice job

  • i dont rest my thumb anywhere its just floating following my hand and i find it very confy and all.

    Cheers :)

  • when i tap its not making the same sound as yours its only making the slapping sound. so you know why???

  • Squier MB5 bass perhaps? haha

  • No, that's an Ibanez soundgear :)

  • Im taking bass in music course so chords on the bass it basicly the combination of notes you hold down with your fingers to make a rif

  • @Dmanlamius76 u just owned that bitch xD

  • Resting your thumb on the string above the one you're playing also helps to mute the string while you're playing, too. Since it's obviously a lower string, you want it to shut up while you're playing the more 'delicate' notes at the bottom. That's what my mentor keeps saying anyway, and it kinda makes sense to me... which is more than most of his lessons do :D

  • What happened at 5:48? hahaha. Good explanation

  • LMFAO ya i actually laughed...he's like wtf :)

  • the slap bass hand position he uses in our group of musicians, we call that the hang loose, where your thumb and pinky kinda stick out, kinda looks like hang loose, thumb hits in the same spot. that's hella fun and easy to learn if you give it some time, this is a great video for answering the uncertainties

  • 4get whose technique, but I learned to not anchor my thumb at all, but just let it hang free and even help with muting - wierd at first but very liberating when I got it. Great lessons Dman, thank you so much, you help us all.

  • Top stuff. I travelled for a couple of years, meeting lots and lots of guitarists who I thought were high quality. However not many could teach or get across their knowledge and I think you do that very well. I'm swapping my guitar for a bass ASAP!

  • Ha Ha! Thanks for the postitivity dude. It's much appreciated. Infact i'm very thankfull of everyones reaction to these vids. I have a bit of time (rare) in the middle of next month, and i'm planning to do more then. Thanks again! Kris:)

  • God man you have helped alot.

    whats your website again

i tried to go to it but idk i just couldnt find it or something.

    thanks man keep it up

  • great stuff mate, cheers...very helpful. I play guitar but recently joined a band on bass, having never really played bass before, so thanks indeed.

  • I <3 you! lol...PLEASE! KEEP THESE UPS!

  • exellent vid. i learned alot. i just think you need a better camera

  • I lol'd at 5:48

  • nvm i got it. :)

  • what was the website?? i couldn't understand if i can get a message back that would be great.

  • If you read the description it would stand there.

  • hello dim, roscopeco here i was asking about slap before, when i said about 'where does your thumb go when you slap' i meant do you hit thru the string(ie hit the e sting bonce off a??) i know iam being a big pain could you do a slow mom , close up of ur thumb action from down the fret board, iam not asking for any Spielberg, lol but i really think that would help alot of people to actually see close up what the thumb is doing, cheers mate keep up the good work!!!

  • and allow your thumb to bounce back away. Make sure to keep your actual arm still, it's only your wrist which needs to rotate and be lose, nothing else needs to move. Also try to not tense your arm or you might be inclined to find the wrist rotation hard work without moving your arm.

  • for tapping you should teach Fugue in d minor

  • great help i been playing 6 years good job

  • Great help! and Good information. Just one suggestion don't put the window behind you in the video. The back light makes it hard to see you and your bass. Thanks!

  • great teaching... could you make a slow version of the slap groove, you play starting at 1.16 ...sounds great , but i caaaan`t get it..

  • hey do you own a ibanez BTB? i have the exact same guitar but mines a 4 string.

  • I don't think that's a BTB.. Look at the finish, this is shiny and the body is different at the sides

  • Brilliant stuff dude. More!

  • thanks a lot for sharing your knowledge !

  • hi gr8 vid ive only been playing bass 4 like a week and ur vids realy help!

    god bless!

  • Great lessons, Dman. You have a really friendly and informative way of teaching the bass, and it's really helping me learn it (just started playing 5 days ago, and loving it!)

I would love to see longer+more informative lessons on your site, keep up the great work, mate!

    -Marcus

  • even though everyone else tells you this a lot im gonna say it too, your videos are the best. ive only been playin for several months and your videos are really helpful. thank you so much man.

  • Hey man, do a vibrato lesson. You have a nice vibrato.

  • Hello misfit. Thanks for your support, and the same to the guys above him:)

It's a technique that I'm trying to learn. The problem is that im completely self-taught, so learning something that is "taught" to me is proving a pain! I'll get it though. Just need to practise, practise, practise...

    Take care man.

  • They won't read you message except they watch it again.. You gotta reply directly under the comments.. so they'll get a note from YT that you've replied...

I saw this by chance.. (watched it again;)

    Kris

  • awesome video, I have been questioning the whole "thumb slap area" myself.

BTW? do you ever use your thumb in a pick-like fashion, i.e. victor wooten?

  • good job dude your bad as in good your good teacher

  • I love your vids man! Keep up the great work!

  • Man, I love your vids!
