  • TUTORIAL :Dplllllzzzzz

  • Looks like goku's kamehameha

  • looks like one of the gods from Legend of Zelda. on the n64,

  • as to the suggestion of just sticking with Laser OVER pbw (particle beam weapon) I have a follow up question. Are similar amounts of energy required to take out a specific military target? OR, does one have it OVER the other one in efficiency??

  • @bootspur I really couldn't say which is better. That would require an effort not afforded to me at the moment. Though i would assume either would be equal with much R&D. video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-2548823151165244267#

  • If we're going for beam weapons i would stick with the laser... Light is fast and you can put unlimited power in it. while plasma is very hot but slow... If you have the power a powerfull laserbeam would do the same type of damage then plasma (thermal) but the laser would be a LOT faster and imposible to dodge... Plasma is best fired in bolts at short range(if at all). Keeping the plasma in check would require more power then actualy shooting it. It's like a waterhose because plasma is gass...

  • That looks awfully like the Asgard Plasma weapons on the USS Deadalus from StarGate Atlantis.

  • @NANOFORGE Really? Hmm think they stole the graphic just kidding:) Im a big Stargate SG-1 fan but haven't been into Atlantis, is there a video of it? Its not really hard to do though, 3 particle emitters with color overlay effect. Blender is free and very versatile i wouldn't doubt someone on the creative team uses it.

  • @saturnofsands Yeah just type in Asgard beam weapons on you tube and the blast that fire look very similar.

  • @saturnofsands I thought it was impossible to channel a particle weapon into a beam, would'nt that make it more like a Laser, I thought you could only fire particle weapons in blots or pulses. A Laser is just a focused beam of light while a Particle weapon is a group of charged electrons accelerated to realtivistic speeds by electro-magnetism. Whats your take?.

  • @NANOFORGE Ion engines are basically plasma, which is continues. I cant think of any reality based physics that would constrain plasma from being ejected in a continuous fashion to form a beam. (even though it has not been invented yet unless you consider the ion engine). A laser is a particle beam, a plasma beam would also be a particle beam. I think its a matter of semantics.

  • The difference is that one is a photon(electromagnetic particle) and the other consists of matter (protons/neutrons and electrons, other wise its not a plasma but a electron beam). Energy beam vs Matter beam. Though still able to travel in or be shot out as a continues beam.

  • Plasma would not be my first choice though since it would travel slower then light. To your point, you could have a plasma beam but shots or blots (bolts?) as it were would (i assume) be more energy efficient then streaming the plasma.

  • @saturnofsands Blots as in Burst.

  • @saturnofsands Is'nt Plasma as hot as the core of the sun?, that would mean a plasma weapon is extreemly powerful.

  • @NANOFORGE Plasma can be as hot as the sun, but its not automatically that hot. A plasma beam at 13 million degrees would be very destructive. Would likely require a ZPM or better to power it in beam form. So i guess blot or beam depends on your energy source. So i would have to agree with you in part. its not impossible to have a beam of plasma its just more efficient to fire it in pulses.

  • @saturnofsands That makes sense I suppose a beam would generate and use more power being constant while a burst would use and generate alot less power.

  • @saturnofsands I thought that the very definition of a Particle beam is a neutral OR charged particle traveling at 186,000 mp/s... And further, how are you able to designate that you would make a "Plasma beam" when a particle beam only uses electrons & neutrons?? So I don't know where the word PLASMA actually fits into the discussion of highly charged electrons & neutrons. Perhaps you heard this idea of a "PLASMA BEAM" in a science fiction movie??

  • @bootspur This discussion is about Sci-Fi technology, and just making approximations. Particles do not necessarily move at light speed. They require a force to accelerate to any percentage of c. CERN and LHC are the only earthly things I can think of that moves particle close to 99% c. I was being very general. Hmm, Plasma is a gas of charged particles. A particle beam (real one) I believe consists of any single type of particle(s) being accelerated. LHC uses protons for example.

  • @NANOFORGE They looks quite similar. im sure with minimal tweaking I could get it to look exactly like the Asgard beam. Darker middle and the outer edge of the beam is brighter/Lighter. Very cool.

  • @saturnofsands Yeah Asgard Beams are badass, I want a pair on my car in case I get stuck in a traffic jam lol.

  • @NANOFORGE I would have to agree :)

  • KAAAAME..........HAAAAAAMMEEE..........BLAH!

  • Looks like a dick beam.

  • @EhrenTHPS yepp sure does ehren.

  • FAAAAAAAAAAAKE particle beams don't shoot strait! They bounce off oxygen cells.

  • hehe, Well have you ever seen a cloud chamber? True that and alpha, beta, gamma particles will hit other atoms, they don't necessarily veer off into wide angle like say water droplets do when hitting an object they will refract or reflect. Also check out a laser, that is a particle beam, gamma particle(radiation) are photons.

On a side note this was done in blender 3D which is free and very powerful. software.

  • Awesome, how did you do that? I have been playing with blender too. I have good at several things put particles.

  • crack after effects

  • sweet

  • how did u do that?

  • how did you do this

  • Comment removed

  • I know, what an achievement!

  • KAME HAME HAAAA!!!

  • that could be done in after effects.

  • Wow, look, after effects is a $1000 dollar program. Blender is free. And he probably doesn't want to steal after effects.

  • Actually, I got after effects in a school deal with other programs. I paid about 60 bucks for it.

  • IAMA FIREIN MAH LAZAR!

  • lol

  • neato! howdja do it?

  • um... wow that could have been like from a movie or something, otherwise why would you only do it for 3 seconds, or it could have been... ANYTHING EXEPT A PARTICLE BEAM!!!

  • Have you ever even used this program? If you had, you would know how hard it is to make stuff like this.

  • lol looks like a penis

  • pretty cool back ground for my phone

  • pfff

  • this looks pretty good keep workin on i though

  • can you suggest what the best special effect program is, or which one you think is the best, cuz i cannot download adobe after effects.

  • It'd be cool to see 3D DBZ movies out of this. XD

  • That was the idea. I was going to do a Short film based on the DB universe. My computer crashed and lost all my work. DOAH!! So now I'm working for Ash Castle Production doing VXF. I might come back the the idea using the experience from ACP. :)

  • COOL! You should explain how did you make this in Blender.

  • It's rather basic.

Two 2D particle emitter tubes (donuts). One for the beam. One for the splash field.

I then added a cloud type texture. I just played with the settings till I got what I liked. Rendered with a motion blur. Soon as i finish the mocap and camtracking I'm going too see how cheesy it looks and tweak till it looks mostly real:). Though it's giving me some deflection problems. Anyway, Glade you like it. watch my little lightsaber test till I post something new in case your bored.
