@stelvans Don't get me wrong I still prefer this to the gay rap shit that is coming out these days, but when I am listening to Thin Lizzy with Phil as the lead singer, it just sounds better, but thats my opion.
@stelvans No you'r serious-_-. John doesn't sing with the kind of passion as Phillip Lynott sang, when a singer dies, the band dies. If you listen to al the albums with Cold Sweat, every single one of them sounds different in a way, and John is just coppying the lyrics.
@marijnpf He is trying to sing the same as Phil to give the fans what they want something as close to the original as possible. If he tried to put his own twist on it, it would be pointless and not what people want. I disagree some bands have been better with the new singer Iron Maiden, AC/DC some would say Rainbow have had many not sure of your age but we may need to agree to disagree.
He needs and way more than deserves so much more fame and recognition in the rock and metal world than he gets or has gotten. He is absolutely awesome! I only have been listening to him and his work for a few months and he's already like, in my top favorite guitarists.
hmmm... actually i think that is fairly astute. good call sir. the best musicians are seldom the biggest in popularity. sykes is amazing tho, gotta love him
Thanks. Yes, great player. If he'd preceded EVH, he'd probably have the same following that EVH has now, and would get the recognition that he deserves.
yeah man, i think that definitely could have happened. i like sykes' playing a lot so bluesy, but still pretty fast. overall its clean but he has a lot of feel as well. i like his riffs too, nice and hard-rock/80s metal style heaviness.
Very true. I really like Sykes's accuracy. The original Cold Sweat solo was always a huge favourite of mine. Like something that Eddie might play, with John Petrucci's picking...
yeah! i agree. the first time i heard that one was on a bbc crown jewels vid on vh1. sooo good. that was the first time i had heard his playing and knew that it was him... it simply blew me away and i had to look him up
JOHN SYKES IS GOD!!!!
