2010 I read the book clandestine cause my mother kept it in the cupboard. She said it was beautiful but disturbing. I came to the same recognition.Last week I read it again, now it's standing in my shelf. Then I watched the movie for the first time.Fr.Green Tomatoes and the lovely bones are the only movies I cried while watching.I think about Susie in heaven still alive in a way,but cold and death on earth in a safe. It brings back the tears everytime.Brave Susie Salmon. I think of her everyday
i must be awful, all this love for the lovely bones... i hated the book and disliked the movie as well. oh well, not everyone can be a fan of everything. but this song is killer.
@laurisss6 your maturity is impressive. due to the fact that i disagree with whatever your opinion is of this movie/book, i am automatically an ass pirate and my opinion is invalid? interesting. i was actually making a statement about the beauty of the song. maybe i'll watch for you here on youtube and wait for you to make an "unimportant opinion."
I like it right at the beginning of the book; when she goes on to talk about the snowglobe and the penguin wearing the red and white striped scarf. How she worried that it was trapped and lonely, and how her father said to her: "Don't worry Susie...he's trapped in a perfect world." I thought that was so moving...
when i heard this song in the trailer i replayed i over and over and over, so beautiful and magical and haunting. i still haven't seen the movie though. it it good????
@nigahiga377 It's one weird movie...Sad ,spiritual...Really weird to explain the feeling...But it's defo an A production.Peter Jackson makes no mistakes! I really liked this movie. If you see it please tell me your opinion :)
Listen the book and the movie is REALISTIC FICTION. That means that it could have happened but it didn't. And for the movie and song, LOVED THEM BOTH!
I watched this movie with my mom and at this scene, I had goosebumps...I meant I was just watching with my mouth open and tearing up. So simple and yet so profound.
I watched the lovely bones the other day. When the girl went into the room under the cornfield my dad was going "this cant be good, oh I can't watch!"
My mum turns round and says "does this rag smell of chloroform to you?" I couldn't help but laugh a little.
think the film was a bit of a let down in the end, particularly considering the amazing cast peter jackson managed to put together. film was a bit disjointed (one sec someone's being killed the next suzie's in transition having a great time). also thought some characters could've been developed a bit better e.g. ray/the girl with black hair. also can you believe the film was a 12A. don't get me wrong, I've heard really great things about the book and there's only so much you can do with a film
MALEFOY78- good comment. I think it's a very rewarding and inspiring movie I just hope that all is well and in this movie. I believe in God but sometimes I walk away from it. I lost my daughter was killed a year ago. but believe me I still really feeling and thinking about it just helps me keep going it's like I talk ... I am writing Chilean forgiveness and forgetting me a little English
I don't get how critics didn't like this film. What's happening to the world? The only films they like now are about some blue aliens or other things that don't even relate to reality.
Hard to decide whether this song is beautifully sad or sadly beautiful, same with this really amazing movie which made me cry so hard and yet smile a bit sometimes... x3
for all i care i wanted his genitals cut off and force feed him his own s*** til he nearly choked to death, then get sodomized by a big, fat, greasy inmate named bubba for every child he harmed x 50...then electrocuted---slowly...
this movie crushed my soul...but sadly is so real (as far as cold cases go)
there's really no words to describe the anger i felt at the end of the movie...absolutely not one OUNCE of vindication for the little girl or her family. instead she gets tossed in a trunk in a sink hole the size of a small planet, while the sick, twisted f*** mr. harvey what? falls of a cliff? PFF.
I can remember this movie and i was in love by it.
I got my first card so i could see many movies as i wishes. I buyed some nice snacks, you know 'those' special ones you take for a special movie. Not popcorn, but popcorn deluxe;) and some nice drink.
End of the movie i almost was crying.. But nobody saw that so i DENY EVERYTHING:P
All-time favourite book. Yeah. It was just enthralling to read, and it made me very sad. I loved the movie, too, but I think they're both great in their own way, even if they're not similar.

I think my favorite thing about of the movie (I have yet to read the book) is that it didn't contradict any religions. They called the place where Susie was the 'In Between', and they didn't say straight out Purgatory, which, as a Catholic, I do not believe in.
@HellServant04 well get over it. its not about you. y bother comment out here unless u have something nice to say. my uncle died when i watched this movie and it reminded me of my catholic uncle. hold this song to my heart
@denzo30 it wasnt a nasty comment. it's a positive thing that it didnt contradict any religions - that means it's open to interpretations. soyou can relate it to your uncle, and they don't have their favourite movie spoilt by something that they do not beleive in.
I have long hesitated before posting this comment because I do not know how to express what kind of world I escape listening to this song over and over again. Lovely Bones is the most realistic film, the most moving, the only film in which one enters the hispanic and live together with Suzie. Congraculations . ♥
i was disappointed in the movie, there are a lot of differences, but they missed two important parts 1. they didnt show her mom having an affair which happened in the book and Susie posseses her friend so she can have sex with the guy she has always loved. Then after that she returns to heaven.
I didn't really cry in this movie like everyone is saying. It inspired me in ways I've never experienced before though - and has very deep insight into morality and how we treat each other in this life as human beings.
I feel like they should show this movie at junior high and high schools (maybe elementary) but it will show kids not to go with strangers because it is happening more and more nowadays. Its a good idea to me, and if it REALLY scares them, thats sort of a good thing, ya know!
This was a really good movie. This movie got to me. It's the only sad movie that actually got to me before. Just like what susie says in the movie. like "I'm glad that my sister got to experience something I never will love". I think thats exactly how they said it I'm not sure but its a really good and sad movie.

I AM CRYING NOW I DONT KNOW I PAST OUT WHEN I WSA LOOKING AT HE MOVIE I DONT KNOW NO PEELS I REALLY DO I FEEL HER I DONT SEE HER I AM NOT PLAYING RIGHT I AM 11 AND I FEEL WHAT IT IS LIKE TO BE HER I FEEL HER ANMD I AM NOT I AM NOT LIKE THOSE TYPE OF PEOPLE I STOP BREHING BECAUSE OF HER I AM REALLY SMART I KNOW WHEN I CAN FEEL SOME ONE ITS LIKE THEY ARE HERE I AM SCARD MOST OF THE TIME I KNOW WHAT THE SONG MEANS THESE DAYS ARE SMOKING DAYS THES WHERE MY KILLING DAY DONT YOU SEE IF U REALLY..
I honestly didn't really like the movie. It was sad, and the fact it was based in a true story us heartbreaking, but the movie itself bored me. I'm in love with this song though.
this is by far the saddest movie ive ever seen. saoirse ronan does such a good job of acting like an innocent sweet girl. and she has by far the prettiest blue eyes ive ever seen. and mark wahlberg is the perfect grieving dad. lol i dnt know why the critics hated on this movie soooo much like they did. i thought it was really good. especially with stanleys job of playin mr harvey. he was hella creepy . and the scenery in/inbetween heaven?! so ridiculous. loved this movie
Honestly, I thought the movie was awful. But that's only because I had read the book first, and let's face it, when you compare books to movies, the books usually win. The movie left out so many details that happened after her death.
I cry in just about every film I watch, but this was one of the few films where I was properly in hysterics and bawling my out, the other films are The Notebook, PS I love You, and Marley & Me.
Didn't expect this film to be so deep and moving, definitely one of the best film sI've ever seen!
This movie was such any amazing movie but very sad made me cry througout the movie my mom showed me and that was to teach me a lesson because STRANGER DANGER!!!! Thumbs up if u agree with me :) Anyway a well done movie and her sister was very brave to do what she did
THis movie is so amzing touching and bery sad. But this movie, it just changes you. It does something to you inside. It hits something inside you. I'm a guy and I cried through basically the whole thing. It's just so great I just can't think of anything else to say. Thank you peter jackson for creating this move.
I cried the whole way through the film, and when Mr Harvey was talking to Susies father, I was screaming at my tv saying "DO'NT YOU TALK TO HER FAMILY YOU BEAST" I think I got a bit carried away. Excellent film!
my name is salmon, like the fish. first name: susie. i was 14 years old, when i was murdered on december 6, 1973. i was here for a moment, and then i was gone. i wish you all, a long, and happy life.

The song makes me feel like I'm in a different world.
And to those "13 year olds", quit acting like listening to a certain type of music makes you better than everyone else, it doesn't.

I cried at this movie =(( it's sad to think that things like this actually happen in reality.

This song should of been in heavy rain for ps3.....that's all I can think of when I hear this , it fits it so well.
MajinHanky 5 months ago
@MajinHanky I see where you are coming from, but it's more "spiritual" the Heavy Rain soundtrack was perfect anyway.

The hardest book to read....then the pain became real as I found what happened to Leiby Kletzky. Reality sadly trumps fiction. Damn fine book.
