  • why did they change the helmet from the time warrior, it was smooth and shiney, now this helmet?

  • @Doctortrek1 you got me, I always loved the look of Styre from the Sontaran Experiment, best sontaran story in my opinion

  • The Sontarans used to be cool! And mean, they were the only monster who actually hit people lol, nowadays they just look like umpa lumpas with guns

  • I was too young to watch this in 1978 but it must have had the same effect as myself and others after Earthshock. Always nice to have something unexpected happen especially when a favourite monster returns. Good music as well although I feel this story does drag a bit.

  • @kernv

I agree, its not the most well executed episode ever taken up, in fact I'd say the Sontarans save the show really. Having said that when I got the DVD i enjoyed it far more than I remembered. The general premise is pretty cool, I think the odd behaviour of the Doctor at the beginning can be a put off at first

  • The surprise return of the Sontarans in this story had me gripped with surprise, on original transmission it was so unexpected to see the Sontarans return in Invasion of Time but superb in billions of ways.

  • classic sotry

  • Remember seeing this when I was kid and loved the Sontarians as they reminded me of Stormtroopers.

  • tardiselliott-Thanks!!! for posting one of my favourite Dr Who cliffhangers.

  • Yep, along with Androzani Part 3, one of the best cliffhangers - coz it was completely unexpected: the story felt like a 4-parter, it genuinely felt like it was over, and then... wow! Great writing.

  • I have The Bred For War(Sontaran) boxset and this one is the best out of all four episodes!

  • Great cliffhanger, crap story!

  • Crap story? The Invasion of Time? I thought it was brilliant! Definitly kept viewers guessing until the last moment....parts 1 - 4 we assumed the Vardans were the biggest threat.

  • @borgduck This isn't a crap story, it's an average story, not brilliant, not bad.

  • @legoboyABC , look, you stick to your opinion & I'll stick to mine.

  • Bloody hell, what a classic cliffhanger, i mean most of the story was pretty "meh", but it had some brilliant moments. This cliffhanger, with both the look on Baker's face and that awesome music is one of them; the Doctor unexpectedly shouting "BORUSA!" and acting like a total maniac is another!

  • Brilliant cliffhanger! For some strange reason this is one of my favourite Baker story! I love the bit where Leela fools the Sontaran and throws the knife in the back of it's neck!

  • One Of My Fav Cliffhangers & I Love Love The Music

  • yeah i think the music is what makes it

  • The "Sontaran theme" music in The Invasion of Time was awesome... Loves it.

  • great cliffhanger. shame the episode was so dull

  • One of my fav cliff hangers in all dr. Who history. Totally unexpected the first time you see this episode. I love it :)

  • Rofl Sontaran potato i cant tell the difference

    :) XD
