  • Isn't #487's bell an automatic versus a manual?

  • Nice video shots

  • This is great. So many cameras to catch this epic authentic narrow gauge run! Brilliant SKip! This was my first scenic rail trip and the passenger cars are actually restored 100+ year old coaches. Cross the Colorado Mew Mexico border 14 times, Come out of a tunnel hanging on the side of a cliff over Toltec Gorge then over wooden spans and you've taken a trip into the way of life that really created American infrastructure over a hundred years ago. Where's the footage from this ride?

  • AWESOME! THEY'RE FINALLY RINGING THE BELL MANUALLY AS OPPOSED TO THE AIR RINGER! SWEET!

  • Many thanks: Always a GREAT pleasure to watch Toltec!

  • K-36s are beautiful! And the miniature versions of them look exactly like them only.........they're miniature.

  • DO NOT WATCH THIS WITHOUT EAR GEAR! The sound is phenomenal! Wait till you hear that whistle...absolutely fantastic!

  • SO SOS O UNREAL,, I LOVE IT,,, THANKS I ENJOYED EVERY SEC OF THIS ,, THIS CLIP JUST TOOK ME OUT OF THIS WORLD WHILE I WAS WATCHING IT , , THANKS

  • The train will be featured in an upcoming NBC western pilot "Reconstruction". Look for it this fall.

  • How many chimes does the 487 have? Doesn't sound like many.

  • The whistle dawn near scared me out of my skin at 0:47

  • I was on board that train 10 years ago and it was just like "The music man" :)

  • This is the most spectacular railroad in North America. You really feel as if you have stepped 100 years back in time. A very highly recommended trip. Hands down!

  • i rode this train

  • é o video + lindo qui assisti, parabenss!!!!!!!!

  • i really like the cattle cars, good to see it pulls freight every now and then

  • Yes quite a beautiful train! But I hate to pop your bubble, the entire trip was staged as a "historic reenactment" of a D&RGW freight train of the late 1950s. The Cumbres and Toltec does not run any freight what so ever to my knowledge, just these historic "railfan" trips, you did notice the three cabooses full of train geeks right? As well as their photo buddies along the way? Also they never hauled cattle, the livestock cars that ran in the region were for sheep only.

  • I learned about a week ago that it as just a photo freight.

  • Bravo. 5*

  • just love to see freighttrains on this line. great footage ! thx for this. 5* + Fav.

  • 3' narrow gauge

    4' 8 1/2" US Standard Gauge

are the most common but I've heard of 2' also

  • so this train cant be run on regular track then?

  • 10-4, this ones a 3 foot between the rails

    sorry i have 3 inch ( " ) mistyped above it should be ( ' ) the foot symbol

  • @SkipW 2' track is most common in maine, they had standard gauge and 2' lines, they completely skipped 3'.
