have to disagree with you there, personally i think its a rich language full of depth and color. i recommend you listen to fischer-dieskau sing the same piece...its on youtube

German sounds just wonderful. Would you rather be listening to "Im Fruling" in English translation? It's been tried by many with many of these Lieder! Long ago I spoke nothing but Italian and back then German and English sounded very similar to my ears, and

both harsh.
